Chapter Thirty Three
Coincidently
Kai
Coincidence.
I promise I didn’t mean to hear anything it was just pure coincidence.
Soojung and Seyeon walked out to the small greenhouse-like garden to talk. It was hard not to hear what Soojung had to say.
“I’m not here to talk about my family life today.” Soojung announced. “I wanted advice.”
“Sure.”
“I… I got accepted into a university in America that has a business course I’m interested in. My sister put in the form for me and I had no idea that I would get accepted but I did… And I don’t know what to do now because my entire life is here.”
America.
Halfway across the world, roughly a 14 hour plane ride from Korea.
It sort of hurt… because it was unexpected. I couldn’t help but eavesdrop the rest of their conversation until I thought it was coming to an end, that’s when I went back to my car.
Soojung’s reason of not going was definitely because of me.
As much as I loved her I didn’t want her to miss out on a huge opportunity she was willing to do, especially because of me.
It broke my heart a little because I know for sure that the best I can do with my life is to stay here, university isn’t even an option for me but Soojung has all these different open doors and… she’s refusing open any of them because of me.
In a way I felt happy because it proved how much she loved me but it also made me feel absolutely terrible.
“Hey.” Soojung rushed in the car with a small smile.
I looked at her then to the florist and realised Seyeon was outside watching my car. I did a light bow and drove off to the roads.
“Thanks for driving me here.” She murmured and held my hand.
“Anytime.”
“I’m going to sleep at my house today.” She announced.
“Sure.”
“Are you okay?” Soojung asked, squeezing my hand.
“Of course, why wouldn’t I be?” I grinned.
“I don’t know.. you just seemed extra quiet.” She murmured.
“I’m fine Soojung, don’t worry about me.” I said.
Krystal
I dropped my bag on the kitchen bench to get a glass of water. A sudden move rushed towards me in the speed of light, it was my sister.
“You’re finally home where have you been?!” She questioned.
“At school, as usual.” I replied, placing my water on the table.
“Oh yeah I forgot. ANYWAY!! I have good news!” She said excitedly.
“What is it?”
“DAD HAS DROPPED THE COURT CASE FROM FURTHER ACTIONS!” Jessica screeched.
I frowned. “What?! Seriously!?”
“YES!! No beef between our family and your boyfriend’s family!”
“Oh my god” I sighed in relief and hugged her tightly.
“Thank you.” I whispered.
“I didn’t do anything Soojung, dad dropped it himself.”
I frowned and walked straight to his office.
“You must have heard.” He said as soon as I walked into the room without a knock.
I nodded silently. “What was your reason?”
“As much as you hate me, our company, your step-mum and the past you’re still my daughter. I saw you genuinely smiling.” He explained.
“When?” I frowned.
“When you were with your boyfriend, Kim Jongin.”
“What happened to ‘the boy I’ve been sleeping with’” I scoffed
He didn’t reply.
“You stalked me again?” I questioned.
“Just a couple of photos. I realised that I did hurt your feelings and I’m sorry for that.”
“Apology accepted.” I murmured.
“Since I did you a favour I want you to give me something in return.”
I looked at him, gesturing him to continue.
“I want you to accept that university course in America.” Dad said.
“How did y---”
“It’s a great opportunity Soojung I don’t want you to miss it. It will definitely boost up our reputation too.”He said, cutting me off.
“I’ll think about it.”
“Hey, can you come over?” I asked, over the phone.
“Sure, I’ll bring some KFC.” He said, hanging up.
It was only moments later when he rocked up at my front door with a plastic bag. I brought him into my room and I sat him down to tell him the good news.
“Why do you look so excited should I be scared?” He a
