Chapter 28

My husband, the babokwang!

   >Lia<
You could say that Min had knocked some sense into me. Because after a whole day of pacing and contemplating, I found myself in my car with all my things packed and kept in the boot at 10pm that night. After some— like what Jay would say— deep thinking, I thought that Min was right, some of it atleast. I couldn't let Gi Kwang-goon bleed to death. I loved him too much to let him suffer.
"Are you sure about this, Lia?" Yonghwa-hyung asked me.
I adjusted the earpiece in my ear as I drove. "Yeah, hyung. I want to give him a second chance. The first ever second chance I've given to anyone in my life."
I knew hyung didn't like it. He wanted me to get a divorce. Even if Gi Kwang-goon didn't cheat on me. But Yonghwa was a good hyung.
"Okay. I'll support you no matter what your decision is. But, no third chances please."
I smiled. "Arasso, hyung. Don't worry. I'll be fine."
"Alright." We hung up the phone.
When I parked the car in front of the apartment building, I gazed up. I was going to meet Gi Kwang after a month since I last saw him. Of course, I should be nervous.
I picked up Kwangie and my sling bag from the passenger seat and then went to the back to grab my luggage.
"We're going home, Kwangie. We're going home," I murmured to him in the elevator.
Once the elevator door dinged open— I even missed the sound of that elevator— I stepped out. I turned to the right, to go to my apartment, but paused. I decided to drop by Beast's apartment first, just in case Gi Kwang was there.
I rang on the bell even though I knew their passcode. I waited nervously. Were they home?
Just as that thought appeared in my head, the door opened and Yoseobie stood there, right in front of me. Oh, wow. I missed him so much.
  I smiled shyly. "Hi."
He stared at me for a long moment. I couldn't read his expression. Anxiety made me fidget. What was he thinking? Was he angry at me?
I needn't worry because right then his face broke into the biggest smile I had ever seen him wore.
"Lia!" He ran out and gave me the warmest, biggest hug I didn't deserve. "Oh, my god, L! I thought I was imagining you." His voice sounded thick.
I hugged him back. "No, Yoseobie. You're not imagining."
  "Are you back for good?"
"Yes. I'm back for good." We pulled back and I saw tears in his eyes. "Don't cry."
He sniffled but smiled. "I'm just so happy." Then he yelled in. "Kids! Lia's back! She's really back!"
Running footsteps could be heard and then, the rest of Beast members were there. Gi Kwang was nowhere in sight though.
"Lia!" Junhyung ran to me. He hoisted me up and turned in circles. I laughed.
"Oh, thank god! Thank god! I can't eat those food anymore. And this place is a mess," Hyun Seung was babbling to himself.
They each hugged me, all smiling so widely. I was touched that they accepted me back just like that. Dongwoon gave my title back to me; Beast's maid and chef. Doojoon ruffled my hair.
  "Where's Gi Kwang?" I asked.
"He's in your apartment. He's been sleeping in your room since..." Doojoon trailed off.
"Go, Lia. Go and ease his ache," Yoseobie encouraged gently.
I nodded at them, and went into my apartment. Garfield came running to me. I picked her up and gave her kisses. When I put her down, Kwangie launched at her and they went rolling on the ground.
The door to my room was a jar. I could see that the table lamp light was on. I pushed the door open and it squeaked. Gi Kwang stirred on my bed. I stepped inside and looked at him. I missed him so much that I thought my heart was going to burst.
I put down my luggage and bags on the floor. They made a tudd sound, which woke Gi Kwang-goon up. He turned and saw me. Then he sat up fast, blinking a few times. I switched on the ceiling lights.
Min wasn't kidding. Gi Kwang was majorly messed up. His hair was a little longer than I remembered. His face was thinner, from lack of eating. Dark circles under his eyes.
We stared at each other for a moment. Gi Kwang stood up.
  "Lia?" He whispered.
I nodded. I couldn't speak. Too overwhelmed by my feelings.
"Is that really you?" He asked slowly. "Or am I dreaming again?"
Dreaming again? What, did he have delusions of me?
I swallowed hard and said, "I'm here, Gi Kwang. I've decided that second chances aren't so bad."
He suddenly groaned, covered his face with both hands and fell back down on the bed. "I'm dreaming again. Damn it!"
I frowned and went to stand in front of him. "Gi Kwang-ah. You're not dreaming. I'm really here."
He wouldn't uncover his face. "You always say that. Always. But once I open my eyes, you'll disappear. And that hurts like ."
I went down on my knees so that my face was almost at the same level as his. I tugged on his hands. "Open your eyes, Gi Kwang. Open your eyes and look at me. I'm not going anywhere."
When he let go of his hands, he slowly opened his eyes and looked at me. "Lia?"
I nodded. "Yes, baby, yes. I'm here, see? I'm here. I'm back now."
His shaking hands cupped my face. "You're here. You're really here."
  "Yes."
He started crying and I pulled him into my arms. He cried on my shoulder for a long time. I must have wounded him deep.
When his hiccups finally subdued, he pulled back and looked at my face. His bloodshot eyes roamed my face hungrily, like he couldn't get enough. His hands went into my hair, and he pressed his forehead against mine.
"I thought you'd never come back," he croaked.
"I thought I wouldn't either," I whispered. "But I couldn't make myself go to court and sign for a divorce. I couldn't let you go, no matter how many times my brain told me to. My heart wouldn't let go."
"I like your heart. I don't like your brain," he said softly.
I couldn't help but smile. "I like you."
He pulled back and stared into my eyes. "I love you."
Then he kissed me. A soft, sweet kiss. I kissed him back, feeling warm and tingling all over. When we pulled up for air, Gi Kwang started tailing kisses down my throat.
  I sighed. "I missed you."
His head rested on my shoulder. "I was waiting for you to say that."
I chuckled a little. My eyes fell on my luggage. "I should unpack now."
I stood up, but Gi Kwang wouldn't let go of my hand. "Right now? But I just got you back."
"I need to change into my PJs. So I need to unpack." I kissed his forehead and then went to my luggage.
Before I could open it, Gi Kwang said, "You know, you don't have to sleep here anymore."
I turned to him, my eyebrows raised. "Then where should I sleep?"
  "In my room."
  "With you?"
He nodded. "But, if you don't want, then it's alright." He played with his fingers. "Sometimes, sleeping alone feels lonely."
I narrowed my eyes at him. "Is that your way of seducing me?"
He looked at me without lifting his head. "Is it working?"
  "Maybe." I suppressed a smile.
Gi Kwang was trying not to smile too. He stood up. "I'll just go back to my room then. Alone. Sleeping on the bed. Alone. All alone. Aloooooooonnneee," He dragged out the word as he walked out.
I rolled my eyes and grabbed my stuffs. "Okay, fine!"
He spun around and grinned at me. He practically skipped to my side, took my luggage and bags from me and zoomed off to his room. I couldn't help but laugh.

  •Gi Kwang•
I woke up and reached for Lia. She wasn't beside me. Panicking, I sat up and looked around. My racing heart only relaxed when I saw her half unpack bags and our last night's clothes strewn messily on the bedroom floor. Running my hand through my messy hair, I got up and went to the toilet. I looked at the mirror and almost didn't recognize myself. I frowned, I had got to have a hair cut.
After I had done the necessities and put on a new t-shirt, I went in search of my wife. Lia was in the kitchen, standing in front of the stove. She was wearing only my t-shirt. Nothing else. Even though that shirt fit me perfectly, it was too big for her. It covered her tighs and stopped short above her knees. She looked hot. My blood heated in my veins. I still couldn't believe that she was back, here with me. I still thought that I was dreaming. If I was, I didn't want to ever wake up.

I guessed I should thank Min again. Last night was the best night of my life.
She looked up and smiled at me. "Morning!" She said in english.
"Morning, Love." I strolled to her, then wrapped my hands around her waist from the back.
She let her head fell back and rested on my shoulder. I pressed my lips to her neck.
  "What are you cooking?"
"Remember when you forced me to cook for you the first time? I want to cook that today, to celebrate our reunion."
My heart warmed and I nuzzled her shoulders and the curve where her neck and shoulders met. She giggled. I missed that sound.
  "Stop it. It tickles."
I didn't stop. She kept laughing and tried to wiggle out of my arms. The doorbell rang. We looked up and stared at the door.
"That must be the kids," I guessed. "They always spoil my plans."
Lia laughed. "I'll go get the door."
She took two steps forward but I caught her wrist and pulled her back to me.
  She frowned at me. "Waeyo?"
I deliberately looked at her from head to toe, raising a brow. She followed my gaze.
  "What?" She said.
My brow raised higher. "Are you going to open the door like that?"
  "Why not?"
I took two steps closer to her. Our nose almost touching. "Do you know what I'm thinking when I look at you right now?" I asked, my voice low and seductive.
  She shivered a little.
I brought my mouth to her ear slowly and said with the same voice, "Do you know what any, straight guy would think when they look at you right now?" I pulled her close until our bodies touched.
She shivered again, swallowed hard and moved back a step. "Arasso. Arasso. I'll put on my jeans."
I couldn't help but smile at her back as she practically ran away from me.
Each and every one of them were giving me an angelic smile when I opened the door.
"What do you want?" I scowled at the kids.
"Ermm... Gi Kwang-ah..." Junhyung started sweetly.
"You know we haven't eaten a really delicious home-cooked meal for a long time now," Hyun Seung continued.
  "So?" I asked, acting clueless.
Unfortunately, Lia arrived at that moment, wearing jeans, thank god.
  "Oh, Beast, waeyo?" She asked.
  "L-ah!" Yoseob said happily.
"Liaaaaa," Dongwoon whined. O'oh. He was doing his cute, pitying act again. "I'm so hungry."
I banged my head on the door hard. Lia couldn't refuse this. She couldn't hear if the kids were hungry. She would quickly cook something for them. No matter how late or how early in the day. Uurrgghh..
She was watching me in amusement as she said, "Arasso. I'll cook more."
The kids brightened. She went to the kitchen.
I glared at them and threatened through clenched teeth. "If you planned to stick around after breakfast, you're dead. You hear me?"
"Eeiihh... What are you going to do after breakfast, ah, Gi Kwang?" Junhyung teased.
"Ooooooouuuhhhh, Gi Kwaaang." Doojoon joined in, raising his brows at me.
I stuck my tongue out at them then stalked off to the kitchen. They came into the apartment uninvited.
"Lia, do you need any help?" I asked.
She turned to me, surprised. "You want to help me cook?"
  "Yup."
She stared at me for a long moment. "Why?"
"I told you. I'm going to treat you better now."
She continued to stare. I guess it was kind of surprising that I was doing this. A smile spread across her face.

    >Lia<
"Have you ever fallen in love before?" Gi Kwang-goon asked me.
We were on the sofa. I was lying down, my head on his lap. He kept running his hand through my hair. After breakfast, Gi Kwang-goon literally threw Beast out and slammed the door in their faces.
I thought about his question. "Hmm... I don't know if you could call it love, but I have fallen for someone once."
He frowned down at me. "Why wasn't it love? Tell me everything. What was his name? What was he like?"
"Daniel, his name's Daniel. It was more like an obsession. I couldn't stop myself from seeing him everyday, even when I wasn't supposed to see him. He was like a drug to me. I would feel high, whenever I was with him. We'd do reckless, dangerous things. And, it was more on lust than love."
I saw the slight change in Gi Kwang's expression. "You've—"
I shook my head. "Just making out. We didn't go far," I paused and bit my lower lip. Should I tell him honestly?
He tugged on my hair gently. "I told you to tell me everything, didn't I? Just tell me. Truthfully. I won't get angry. Promise."
"I wanted to, you know. We'd go to that extend, but I would always stop it at the last minute. I didn't know why. I thought I was ready, but then, at the last minute, I'd change my mind. Now though, I know why. Daniel wasn't the one. He wasn't you."
Gi Kwang smiled down at me. "Tell me more."
  "You really want to know?"
"I want to know everything about you."
"Me and Daniel, we weren't in a relationship exactly. He was a player. We were friends with benefits. He'd go with other girls whenever I couldn't see him. And, I wasn't supposed to see him like I did."
  "Why?"
"He's the son of my father's strongest rival."
Gi Kwang's eyebrows raised. "Yoseob told me your father's a Mafia. That means..."
"Daniel was part of his father's mob."
  "Oh. Wow."
"I was supposed to spy on him but I ended up hooking up with him."
"Did he know who you were?"
  "He didn't, at first."
"What did he do when he found out?"
I shrugged. "He kissed me. That guy is sick in the head actually."
My mind flashed back to those days. Because of Daniel, I had a huge fight with Lucas.
"How old were you?" Gi Kwang asked, bringing me back to reality.
I smiled ruefully. "Eighteen, nineteen. Around there. Now that I think about it, it wasn't love at all. He was like a drug. I would go crazy if I didn't see him for a few days. But after long, when I didn't see him anymore, his effect on me would wear off, and I'd be fine. Its not like you. You are like the air I breathe. I wouldn't be able to live long without you."
Gi Kwang's eyes shone with tears of joy as he smiled at me. He went down and gave me a quick kiss on my lips, his way of saying that he loved me. I smiled up at him.
"What about you? Ever fallen in love before?"
He shook his head. "It was all a crush or monkey love. It wasn't as intense and real like with you. You're my first and real love."
I grinned hugely up at him.
He gazed down at me and tried to pull off a straight face. "Do you like it that much?"
  "Of course."
He couldn't hold off the smile. His hands went under me and he pulled me onto his lap. Then he kissed me long and deep. I sighed, tingling all over. When we pulled apart, our foreheads rested against each other's.
"Are you happy, Lia?" He asked me.
  I nodded. "Very happy."
"I told you, you'll get your happily ever after."
I pulled back a little to look at him. "I don't think this is the end yet, Gi Kwang. I just don't think this is our happily ever after."
I saw a flash of fear in his eyes. "What's going to happen?"
"I don't know. But, whatever happens, I want you to promise me you won't give up on me, on us. Promise me you will fight for our love."
He swallowed hard but didn't say anything, staring into my eyes. My pulse quickened.
  "Gi Kwang!"
Instead of answering, he kissed me. This time more deeply than I thought possible.
"Promise," he whispered when we broke apart. "And I mean it."
