I can’t believe Baro and I are staying in the same apartment. I’ve always thought about how nice it is to have one of your classmates as your neighbor so you can walk to school together. But I have never thought that this person will be Baro. Speaking of him, he’s extremely quiet the whole time.

“So....” I said, trying to break the awkward atmosphere around us. “You just shifted here you said?”

“Yeah. Can’t believe we’re neighbours.”

“same here.”

We continue walking without talking. I hate silence. Come on mi sun, talk about something, break the silence!

“Weather’s quite cooling..” omgosh lame mi sun, very lame

 “yeah.”

Okay, let’s try something else.

“Anyways, how do you find this place? Oh yes, have you been around? Are you familiar with the roads? Oh where did you stayed before shifting here?”

I didn’t expect so many questions to come out from my mouth, but it just did.

He chuckle. “Wow slow down! Well, I haven’t really got a chance to walk around, been busy unpacking. And I have to take care of some erm..stuffs.”

“like.. school stuffs?” I asked.

“yeah, something like that.”

“do you miss your friends?”

“Of course. I’m from the country side you see, so I’m still trying to get use to a city life.”

“ahh.. No wonder you have a little slang when you speak.”

He laughed. “You realized I speak very slowly too right?”

I nooded. “But you speak quite well.”

“I shifted to busan when I’m 10years old due to my father's business. I was born in Seoul.”

“oh I see. Teach me some dialects”

He laughed. “Okay, what do you want to learn?”

I serious have no clue. I am just saying it so we can keep talking.

“Erm.. let’s start wi- OUCH!”

Something hit me. Something hit the back of my head. And it hurts.

“Is someone trying to kill me?!”

“A ball tried to kill you.” baro laugh and pick up the ball.

Oh, a ball, nice.

“Hey little buddy.” Baro said to a boy that came out from the playground. “Is this yours?”

The little boy nodded, shyly.

“Your ball here almost “killed” someone.”

“Not funny baro.”

He laughed. “Shall I give you some pointers?”

The boy nodded, happily this time.

“Alright, come on, are those yours friends?”

Baro went into the playground with the boy; I followed them and sit on a bench.

He starts teaching the kids how take the ball away from another person. Okay I’m sure that’s not the right term, but hey, I ain’t a football fan.

I watched them play. They look so tiny around baro, who still have his sling bag on his shoulder. They start passing the ball to each other, laughing and kicking it. Suddenly one boy fell down.

When I was just about to get up to help the boy, baro went up to him and pull him off the ground. He brush off dirt from his pants and checked for injuries, and then he patted his head. He then wave goodbye to those kids and walk up to me.

“so!” he breath “how was it?”

“you look like a father with 8kids.”

“yah!”

“it’s true!”

“come on, let’s go.” he started walking out.

“I didn’t know you can get along with kids so well.”

“do I look like I can’t?”

“you look like a kid though.”

“yah!”

“what?”

“I do not look like a kid.”

“okay hambaro.”

“yah!”

“what?” gosh I can’t stop laughing, he look so cute when he’s sulking.

Wait, did I just think his cute?

We were silent for a moment.

“Anyways..” I said, trying to clear off my thoughts. “Do you have younger siblings?”

“yup. I have a younger sister.”

“No wonder you’re good with kids. “

“you think?”

“So how old is she? You both must be close.”

“How about you? Do you have siblings?” he asked.

“Nope, I’m the only child.”

“It must be nice, being the only child.”

“Not really, it’s quite lonely sometimes.” I said, walking into the lobby of our apartment.

“you have juri and gong chan.” He said, punching the elevator button.

“yeah but they’re not with me 24hours. They have their own family.”

“true.”

Ahh…silence again.

“oh, you haven’t answer my question.” I suddenly thought about it.

“What question?”

“Your sister, how old is she?”

DING!

“Oh it’s here, come on.” He walked into the elevator and I followed.

“floor?” he asked

“6^th.”

He punched number 6, then number 9.

“oh you know, we can go to school together, if you don’t mind.” He said.

“not at all.”

“how about we meet at the lobby around 7am?”

“sounds good to me.”

DING!

“okay, I’ll see you tomorrow. Thank you for today.”

“no, thank YOU.” He said, holding the door as I get out.

“7am.” I said.

He nodded. “bye!” he waved. I waved back as the door close.

Ahh… what a day. Hold on, he still hasn’t answered my question! Don’t tell me he forgotten his sister’s age. Or could it be something else?
