A Sweet Distraction

The car ride home was almost completely silent, nothing could be heard except for the quiet hum of the engine or the occasional sound of Luhan flicking the blinker on. You stared out of the window, your thoughts were a muck but you had calmed down significantly since you had left the EXO mansion. 

"You alright?" Luhan asked with worry, breaking the silence.  

You nodded, looking over to him with a small smile. "Yeah, I'm better now." It was the truth, you had calmed down a lot, no longer mulling over every single word said at the game, instead you had come to a decision. It had ultimately come down to two options in your mind; Overthink everything, go against your boyfriend's trust and call him a liar. Or;  it up, accept that some things aren't perfect, and learn to trust Luhan. You chose the latter, though you were lying to yourself if you said you didn't have any doubts. Realistically, you were just hoping it was the right choice, even though it didn't feel like it. 

Luhan sighed, finally pulling up to your drive way. No lights were on in your house. 

You looked at him curiously, there was a troubled expression in his eyes as he bit down on his lip. 

"Are you alright?" You asked. 

Luhan closed his eyes for a moment, debating something in his mind. "Look, Saerom..." Is this it? Am I going to tell her about Yunko? He looked at you, your eyes wide with concern and expectance. "I...Um..." Ugh. How can I tell her that, she'll leave me. "I.." What am I supposed to say? I have to at least tell her something, at least something. Something true. "I, er..." 

You looked at him, confused. You had never seen him act this way before, he was obviously trying to tell you something important. But what? You thought. But then, your heart started to flutter. Is he going to say it? "Y-Yes?" You squeaked. Please say it... 

"Umm..." Luhan blinked at you. "I just want to say..." 

Yes, yes. Say it. 

"That...um..." 

Yes, come on Luhan. You can do it. 

"I..." He stared into your eyes again, you looked so innocent in this moment, so precious and heartbreakingly wonderful. His heart started to beat faster, he had never felt this way before. Why were you so special? Why didn't he want to kiss Yunko? And why, oh, why, did he wish that he was the only person in the world to see that expression of yours. 

He swallowed again. Is this what it feels like to love someone? "I...want you to have a good night." He cleared his throat, leaning back into this seat. I can't... 

"Oh..." You were visibly disappointed, a dejected feeling rising in the pit of your stomach as your cheeks turned a brilliant red. "Oh." You said again, looking away from him before he could notice. 

Luhan's stomach twisted uncomfortably, a sudden pain shooting through his heart. Oh, how he wanted to embrace you and tell him how much he loved you but – he just couldn't. "Sorry." He muttered. 

You bit your lip and shook your head, well, if you were feeling better before, you certainly weren't now. "I'll, um, see you at school tomorrow." 

Luhan nodded, his eyes straight forward. Too cowardly to look at your heart broken expression again. "Yep." He said. 

And just like that, you were left in your driveway with your suitcase in hand.  

You watched him drive away feeling incrediably small and lonely. 

What more can I do? I can't love him even more than I already do, can I? I don't get it... What more does he need? 

"I don’t think I can do this anymore." The words spilled from your mouth into the open air.  

Shocked with your own words you clasped a hand over your mouth with a gasp. Did I just say that out loud? After I had decided to trust him? 

"Honey?" It was your mother, she was standing on the front porch with her dressing gown on, "Saerom, is that you?" She squinted into the darkness. 

"C-Coming mum!" You called as you heaved your suitcase towards the stairs. 

Your mother smiled when she could finally see you properly under the porch light. "How was your break with the girls?" She asked as she helped you inside. 

Oh, right. Girls. You had told your mother that you were going to be spending your time at Mina's house. Which was half true, Mina did live in that house. You just conveniently left out the part where she shares that house with twelve other boys. 

"It was fun." You answered with a smile, "Kind of tired though." That much was true, you were completely mentally and physically drained. You hadn't had that much social interaction in your life. 

"Well, I'm glad you're home." She gave you a hug, "I missed you, no one was around to eat my muffins." 

You laughed in her embrace, happy to be home. "I'll get around to it." 

11:30pm 

"Ugh!" You tossed around in your bed, finally sitting up. "I can't sleep!" 

I wonder if everything is okay back at the house with Luhan, Lay and the others. A thought occurred to you. I really hope Luhan isn't beating Lay up or something, that would be terrible. 

If only there was some way you could communicate with them.. 

You picked up your phone from your bedside table, eagerly typing away. 

To: Mina 

From: Saerom 

Hey, is everything ok over there now? 

You smiled down at your phone. Mina should be able to keep you well informed. 

To: Saerom 

From: Mina 

Yeah everything is pretty much back to normal, Eunhee went home shortly after you left too. Are you okay? Lay shouldn't have said those things. 

You bit your lip. You were ok, but there was one major thing irking you, you had to know what she thought. 

Yeah I'm okay...Is Lay ok? You don't believe those things he said, right? 

She replied quickly.

Yeah he's okay I think. He seemed okay at dinner. 

You rolled your eyes 

Mina, you didn't answer my question. 

This time, it took a little while before Mina replied. You assumed she was taking her time to word it properly in a way that wouldn't hurt your feelings. You didn't take this lengthy time as a good sign. Eventually though, your phone buzzed and you scrambled around to grab it. 

You have to hear me out, ok? It's not like I believe Lay, because I really do think Luhan loves you, it's just that... Luhan has never been in a proper relationship before. It wouldn't surprised me if he had made a mistake. 

You sighed. So even Mina thinks he's a cheater. You type a short 'thank for telling me what you think' and threw your phone on the other side of your bed. "What am I going to do?" You groaned into your pillow. You didn't want to think anymore, or more precisely, you didn't want to think about Luhan anymore. It took up so much energy. You just wanted to have fun. Right at this moment, all you really wanted was a nice distraction. 

Tap. Tap. 

You eyes flew open. "What was that?" Cue distraction. 

Tap. Tap. 

There it was again! It sounded like it was coming from the window. You quickly unravelled yourself from the blankets and ran to the widow. Did Luhan come back? 

"Lay?!"
