Flowers and Airports (For Noodles) ... TOP Oneshot

GD⊤ One Shots

Author's note at the end.

--------------------------------------

SeungHyun approached the nursery-park and spotted the lady he was looking for.

She was bending over some flowers, making sure that they were growing well, pulling out some weeds. She looked just like the way he first saw her huddled over flowers in the park, all the way in Japan.

Ren's hands slowly one of the roses. Her mind everywhere but on the rose.

"Ren?" Her head shot up at the familiar voice. "Baby..."

Her shock was mixed with slight happiness before it was replaced with mild rage.

"Do you think its wise to come see me here when I have so many things I can kill you with?"

SeungHyun looked around, only to see she was right. The sharp garden tools were extremely intimidating and would definitely make good murder weapons.

"Ren, baby, I just wanna talk." He pleaded. "I miss you."

Ren's heart beat wanted to beat a pace faster at his words but she refused to let it do so.

"Well, I don't." She turned away from him. "Please walk away and never come find me again."

"Ren, plea--"

"No. Now walk away."

"I'll come back tomorrow then." There was a small sad smile in his voice.

Her head snapped back to rebutt him not to do so, only to see him already making his way out. Once he was out of her sight, Ren slid to the floor, tears streaming down her face.

"SeungHyun Oppa! I'm home!" There was no reply and Ren walked a little bit more into the hallway.

"Oppa?" There was a bit of a rustle and Ren's mind started thinking of every possibility.

Before she could open the door to her bedroom, It opened on the other side.

"Hey Baby," He greeted her. "You're back early."

He leaned down and gave her a peck. She accepted it but felt that there was something wrong. His tousled hair, messy shirt and most distinctly, the smell of someone else's perfume.

"Yeah, Didn't have much to buy today." She said cautiously. "Did you go for a shoot in that shirt today?"

She thought she saw slight panic rush through his face but it disappeared as fast as it came.

"Yeah Babe. I did. Why? Is there a smell?" He lifted his own shirt to take a whiff. "I bet it's the model's perfume."

She nodded her head and left it at that. He gave her his award-winning smile and she couldn't help but to smile back, making her way to the kitchen to cook something for them to eat. He accompanied her to the kitchen, asking about her day, watching her cook. But Ren couldn't help but feel there was something very wrong about everything. But she didn't want to jump to conclusions.

"I'm going to the bathroom okay? Then we can eat when I'm out." Ren acknowledged it and after he went off, she decided to change into something more comfy as well.

She made her way into the bedroom, only to see a shirt and a pair of high heels on the floor. She could hear SeungHyun's faint voice from the bathroom and there was an occasional higher and gentler voice replying him.The messed up covers and tossed pillows told her that she would not want to know who he was talking to.

Ren turned, walked out of that room and the house, not bothering to finish the dinner she just cooked. And she never turned back since.

But it didn't mean she didn't want to.

"Hey... Yeah, he came and looked for me today..." Ren spoke into her phone as she opened the door to her rather new apartment, groceries hanging on her arms. She managed to find a fully furnished apartment for rent after she left his house and it had everything she needed : A bed, a cupboard, tables and chairs, a sofa and a tv and etc. All she needed to bring were her personal items and utensils like pots and pans for the kitchen.

"I'm okay... You're coming over? Okay. I'll prepare dinner for all of us."

Ren worked her way in the kitchen before her friends came strolling in her front door.

The good thing though, is that she has friends that stick by her. That's all that's keeping her from breaking down.

"Hey Ren, when are you leaving next week?" Jessi, one of her friends asked.

"Uhh. Thursday..."

"Then we'll throw a farewell party for you on Wednesday night." Jiyong, Her ex-boyfriend's band leader suggested.

Panic and unwillingness passed through Ren's features.

"Uhh, thanks guys. But I don't want to be doing any celebrations on Wednesday." She hesitated for a moment. "Is Tuesday okay? Just don't touch Wednesday okay?"

Her friends all exchanged looks, understanding why no celebrations should be held on that particular day. They left it at that and dinner went on with no more interruptions.

----------------------------------------------------

"Ren! There's a delivery for you!" Her Manager called her over to the main office.

Placed there, was a home-packed lunch box.

"Someone wearing sunglasses and a beanie dropped it for you. He said you paid for it already. But He didn't tell me which company he was from."

Ren recognised the box and her heart quickened it's pace just a little. She quickly thanked her manager before taking the box with her to her working area, where there was a small wooden table used for picnics.

She placed the box at the middle of the table, about a half a hand's length away from her. She sat there staring at the box, not sure what to make out of it.

With a sigh, she opened it to reveal a bowl of jajangmyeon, her favorite noodles. Wrapped around the chopsticks was a note which she unwrapped with slightly unsteady fingers.

You seemed to have gotten skinner. You're still as beautiful, but please eat your meals regularly. Don't make me worry more than I should already. I love you.

Ren stared at the note, thoughts running everywhere.

What do you want me to do, Oppa?

Reaching a conclusion, she stood up and closed the lunch box.

"I'm not going to give in." Ren told herself, pushing the lunch box away.

The following 3 days followed in the exact same way, food being delivered by the same "Mysterious guy", as her manager puts it.

"It's your last day already, Ren. Just sit here with us and have the food for lunch." Her manager offered. "We'll really miss you here."

Ren took the box, sitting down with her colleagues. She finally opened the box after all 3 days of ignoring the others. Inside was, still warm, bimbimbap. Wrapped around the chopsticks was another note and she quickly unrolled it, reading it quickly.

This is the 4th box I'm sending you. Hope you enjoy my cooking just like I've always loved yours. I'm trying rice today, although you must be expecting noodles just like the others I sent. Hope you are eating well. I miss you so much. I love you.

Ren sat, stupefied at the note and guilt started gnashing at her heart.

He prepared the food himself...

"Ren, you okay?" One of her colleagues asked.

"Yes, I am." Ren snapped out of her daze and nodded. Her colleagues had order a delivery and everyone was having around the same food aside from her, in that petite, adorable looking lunch box of hers.

She took a first bite after mixing everything.

Chicken... He took in the fact that she preferred chicken over beef...

The bimbimbap really did taste good and it was obvious that his cooking had improved.

"Wow Ren, that lunch box of yours looks good! Did you make it?" One of her colleagues asked.

"No, someone delivered it for me." Ren smiled in reply.

"Must be her boyfriend. She has been receiving those lunch boxes for the last 4 days!" Ren's manger added in, making everyone go "OoOoo".

"Okay okay... let's not make her embarrassed." Her manager hushed them. "Why do you have to leave anyway Ren?"

"I have to go back to Japan." Ren stated. "But I'll come back to visit all of you, don't worry."

"You better!" One of her colleagues pushed.

But there was no promise that she would...

Her day passed by without any disturbance until she reached home, where Jiyong and her friends were already busy with her 'farewell' party. Jessi had decided to cook and Jiyong brought all the utensils they needed. (Since Ren's house didn't have any. Even if she did, It would have been in a box already). Everybody else chipped in with something and by the time Ren had been let off from work and reached home, everything was already set and ready, including someone the Ren did not know.

"Hi, I'm SooRin. I'm a friend of JiYong Oppa's." She had introduced herself.

Ren had been nice, thanking her for coming for such a simple dinner. As they all sat down at the table, everyone eating with reminiscences about the past before Ren got caught up in this mess she called Choi SeungHyun.

"Um, Ren-sama? I have something to tell you." SooRin had cut through conversations during desserts. Everyone immediately fell silent, as if they were all prepared for this and were waiting for it to happen.

"Uh, sure. What is it?" Ren asked gently, trying to get rid of the awkwardness that she felt.

"I've known Ji Yong, and SeungHyun Oppa for a very long time." She paused and Ren's heart pounded hard at his name. "Slightly more that 3 weeks ago, I arrived in Korea from America."

More than 3 weeks ago... Around the time that I caught...

"I went to look for SeungHyun Oppa. And I--"

Suddenly Ren stood up.

"Don't say no more. It's okay. It's all over and in the past." She controlled her emotions for a moment. "Thank You for the party. Please excuse me."

As she started walking towards one of her rooms, SooRin stood up as well.

"Ren-sama, Please, Listen to me." She pleaded. "We didn't do anything! I was the one who started everything."

Ren stopped short in her steps.

"He was the one who pushed me away. He is totally innocent, and I'm sorry for spoiling the wonderful relationship that the both of you had."

"It's over." Ren let out a whisper. "But it's okay SooRin-sshi. Thank You."

Her strides got larger as she made it to one of the rooms. Once the door was closed, Ren sank down to the floor, her lungs constricting as she fought the urge to cry. Soon enough, she succumbed to it and let a sob run through her. She had no idea how long she spent crying, but by the time she gathered her courage to step outside of the room, her friends had cleaned up everything and were seated on the couch.

"Ren..." Jessi and Jiyong both stood up and approached her. They both gave her hugs before she let a small smile tug at her lips slightly.

"I'm really sorry for ruining this party. Please, don't trouble yourselves further. Please go home and get some rest everyone."

Her friends reassured her, some even apologized for putting her in such a position.

"It's really okay, I'm fine."

Her friends started to leave one by one, leaving only Jiyong and Jessi behind. They ended up all seated on the floor, leaning on the couch with the tv playing. No one was really paying attention. Jessi was rubbing circles in Ren's hand while the latter's head was resting on Jiyong's shoulder. She had been sobbing silently while they sat infront of the tv and the two could not do much to help her. They knew that the only comfort they could give her was to acompany her and at least let her know that they were there for her.

Ren's breathing started to sound steady and they realised that she had fallen asleep. The two shared a look and wordlessly, Jiyong turned off the tv while Jessica reached over to dim the lights, allowing all 3 of them to sink into a much-wanted sleep.

-----------------------------------------------------

The late next afternoon, Jessi, being the first one to wake up, went out to buy lunch for everyone.

Ren didn't have much to say, sitting there listening to the other two's conversation.

"Ren?" Jiyong's voice drifted into Ren's empty void of a mind. "Ren?"

"Huh? Oh, yeah?" Her mind finally registered him and answered.

"I was asking if you were going to be alright... I got to go, need to be in the studio."

"Oh! I'll be fine! Please, don't trouble yourself any further. Just go."

"And another thing," Jiyong's expression turned sad. "I can't see you off tomorrow, I have an inkigayo recording to attend."

"Oh..." Not having one of her best friends see her off was heartbreaking for Ren, especially when she didn't know when she would be coming back. Unknowingly, she had started to tear slightly at that thought.

"Please don't cry, Ren. We'll see each other soon, It's not like you're leaving forever." Jiyong pulled her into a hug.

But that's the point, I might never see you again...

His hand her hair before pulling away from the hug.

"Honestly, I thought you won't be leaving anymore. But, in anyway, I'm going to miss you so very much. I'll come and visit you as often as I can. You better visit too." Ren tried to smile through her tears at her best friend as he chastened her slightly.

They shared another hug before he gave her a last peck on her forehead.

"Be safe, I'll see you soon?"

She nodded, without any promise.

"Good Bye, Jiyong."

"Oh, come on. We'll see each other soon. This is not farewell, yeah?" With one last hug, he left for the office.

Only if you knew, Jiyong

Ren turned back to Jessi, who was looking back at her with a slightly skeptical face.

"You're not coming back, are you?" Jessi treded lightly on the topic. "I saw the look you had when Jiyong said that you're not leaving forever."

Of course Ren wouldn't be able to fool Jessi; she knew her ever since she arrrived in Korea during their University days.

"I'm sorry Jessi... I have to. I've overstayed in Korea for too long."

"But- but.. hasn't everything been solved? SooRin-sshi owned up didn't she? SeungHyun Oppa had nothing to do with this."

"Jessi, it's not that simple."

"Then explain it to me. Why leave the life you've built, independantly, to go back to Japan? Your brother is coping fine there and doesn't need you, per se. You're going to just give everything up?" She quickly caught her breath. "You were just going to leave Jiyong and I hanging? How about every one else? You were just going to cut yourself from us? What about me? You're the sister I never had, the twin Jiyong never had. Do you know what will happen to us if you just disappear like that? Who's going to be there to hear our whining? To eat ice-cream with me and hear me babble about my day all through the night? To stop me from doing reckless, life-threathening things?"

"Jessi-"

Jessi was on a roll and she was just shooting all her thoughts at once.

"How about SeungHyun Oppa? Do you know how miserable he has been? All the effort he put in just to get you to talk to him? All the things he wants to say to you... and you're just going to leave him? Why, Ren? How could you? On these few days of all days! You know it will break his heart!"

Jessi was tearing by now and her words sent arrows straight into Ren's heart, leaving her in tears too.

"I'm sorry Jessi. I really am. I'll visit. I promise. But I have to go. I just have to. I don't know how to explain it to you. When I'm ready, I'll come back. But for now, I have to go. I'm so sorry."

Ren grabbed Jessi into a hug, mumbling apologies throughout. As they pulled away, Jessi's phone rang. She answered it, wiping tears away as she did.

"I've to go back to the office, there's an emergency in my department." She sighed, fixing herself. "I do not understand, Ren. But I accept it. Please don't cut yourself away from us. I love you, my sister, don't forget that."

They had a fierce hug before parting.

"I'll go down to the airport with you tomorrow okay?"

"Okay... See you tomorrow."

And with that Ren was left alone in her apartment, not really sure of what she wanted to do on the eve of her departure, on this day...

She cleaned everything she could in the house and ensured that all her stuff were packed, trying to distract herself.  She layed out some clothes for herself to wear the next day before plonking herself infront of the tv with a bag of chips.

Let's hope there's something distracting on the tv.

Every channel Ren turned to, it seemed as if all the shows were taunting her. Couples holding hands; couples kissing; couples fighting... Wasn't there a show on that had nothing to do with couples?!

She finally turned to a show about animals and settled to watch how a mother lion protects her cubs. As the show changed to one about birds, Ren's eyes closed and she slipped into a nap.

----------------------------------------------------

When she finally woke up, it was to her phone ringing endlessly on the table. She grabbed it and picked it up.

"Yeoboseyo?"

The background music was so loud that Ren could barely hear what the guy on the other line was saying.

"Hello? I'm calling from the Dongyang club!" The guy was pratically shouting into the phone. "Your boyfriend has been calling you for the last half hour and he's passed out! Please come get him!"

"I'm not--" Ren was hung up on before she could even say anything.

Looking at the phone, Ren realised the call was from SeungHyun's phone. Checking through the other calls, SeungHyun had called her 17 times in the last 45 mins.

She could just leave him there, to wake up the next day and have a bad hangover... but something nudged at her.

He's done nothing wrong. It's not going to make a difference if you just drop him home...

Standing up to grab her keys and getting out of the apartment, it didn't occur to Ren that she could have just called his band mates or his manger to go pick him, without needing to move her feet.

The club was filled with sweaty, sticky people grinding against each other, making Ren cringe inwardly.  She squeezed her way towards the bar, and found SeungHyun passed out on it.

"SEUNGHYUN!" She nudged him, shouting over the music. "GET UP!"

The bartender noticed her and gestured that he'll help bring Seunghyun out, since he was outcold. They went by the back door and did a round around the club to Ren's car.

"Thank You so much," Ren said after they got SeungHyun in the back seat. She buckled up and started to drive over to SeungHyun's apartment.

During the drive, SeungHyun kept on mumbling but Ren could never make out what he was saying. When she made it to SeungHyun's house, she entered the passcode, opening the gates wide open, allowing her to drive in. The gates closed behind her and she leaned her forehead against the steering wheel, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath before getting out to help SeungHyun.

Leaning his weight on hers, Ren somehow managed to get the both of them into the house and placed SeungHyun on the sofa.

"Rennn..." She heard SeungHyun groan. "Babeee..."

"Come on SeungHyun... Lift your arms for me." Ren struggled to help him out of his t-shirt. Managing to get his shirt off, she went to get a wet towel from the kitchen to wipe him down.

"Babe Please don't go", SeungHyun whimpered as he tossed a little from side to side. " I'm sorry... Please... Stayyy"

Ren's heart skipped at his mumbling, but she steadied herself, finishing up and went to toss the towel into the sink. She walked into his room to go grab a blanket, but stopped short. All throughout the room were pictures of the both of them at, obviously, much happier times. They were pasted all over the room, almost every single inch of the room covered, even the wardrobe and bathroom doors. In the midst of them were countless post-its, filled with little notes with SeungHyun messy, but elegant handwriting.

"I miss your smile..."

"Your laugh sounds like jingles in Xmas..."

"Your hair was always so soft..."

"I want to hear your voice... telling me it's all gonna be okay."

"I miss you so so so much"

"I love you Baby... To the Stars and back"

Ren's eyes felt hot and tears started to roll down her cheeks... How was she suppose to leave now?

---------------------------------------

As Ren was tucking in SeungHyun on the sofa, the front door opened and HyeYoon, SeungHyun's sister stepped in.

"Ren-ah, I saw you car outside."

"HeyYoon Unnie" Ren quickly stood up straight and greeted her.

"I just came to check on him, you know since today is... well. I knew he would get drunk."

"I'm so sorry... I didn't mean for things to turn out like this."

"Come, let's go sit. I take it that SooRin has admitted everything?"

Ren nodded as they made their way to the dinning table. HyeYoon sighed and looked at Ren.

"He was crazy for a week without you. You didn't answer his calls, Jiyong wasn't talking to him, he wasn't sleeping, camping outside Jessi/Jiyong's flat, hoping if he caught the couple, he would catch you too. Then after that week, he was printing photo after photo, writing post its, lyrics and letters, asking Jessi or Jiyong to pass them to you. Then after that he started cooking. All your favourite dishes, he tried to cook them all. He even sprayed your perfume in the room and bathroom, just so that it would seem like you never left. He misses you so."

Ren's eyes brimmed with tears, some escaped and she wiped them away.

"HyeYoon Unnie... do you think I deserve him? Do I get a second chance?"

"If you knew how much my brother loves you, you won't be asking such questions." HyeYoon smiled, tsking at Ren.

Ren blushed, looking down at her hands wrungged together.

"Unnie.. Can you bring him to the airport for me tomorrow? Don't say anything, but just bring him?"

"I will do my best," HyeYoon smiled. "Now go on home, get some rest."

They stood and shared a hug before Ren left.

Once in the car, she pulled out her phone. "Jessi-ah, You're going to think I'm crazy but I need you to do something for me."

-------------------------------------------------

SeungHyun rushed into the airport once HyeYoon stopped the car at the drop-off bay. He had woken up the next afternoon with a massive hangover, head filled with faint memories of being with Ren the night before.

He stared at the screen displaying the departure timings, trying desperately to find Ren's flight.

"Tokyo Tokyo Tokyo Row 14" SeungHyun runs down the rows, only to see that it was closed already. He ran to the departure gate, heart beating in his ears. He spotted Jessi near the gate, but she was alone.

"Jessi! Is she still here? Has she left?" He grabbed her shoulder, shaking her.

Jessi didn't look up at him.. slowly shaking her head. SeungHyun felt his heart fall, landing on the ground to shatter into a million pieces.

He let go of Jessi, resigning to the fate that he had lost her. He turned around ready to get back into the car and back home to curl up in their his bed that still smelled like her.

But he saw her. He saw her standing there with flowers in her hand, a small smile on her face as she gave a small wave, shifting on the balls of her feet.

"No she hasn't left." Jessi whispered behind him, a smile in her voice.

But SeungHyun didn't fully comprehend what Jessi said, the only thing on his mind was that she was there, right in front of him. It seemed so cliche, but that didn't stop SeungHyun.

He walked hesitantly towards her.. fighting wether to just break into a run towards her, or to be calm. (But his heart couldn't be calmed, it was beating out of his chest.)
But he is stopped by her hand, lifted up as a signal for him not to. His heart that seemed to have glued it self together, threatened to break again, but was stopped by the smile on her face.

She pulls out a piece of paper from her sling bag, an A3 size, unfolding it with one hand.

"Happy Belated 3rd Anniversary Oppa.
               널 항상 사랑할게."

A slow, but wide smile grew on SeungHyun's face as he read the words, watching as Ren gives a shy smile while a blush creeps up her neck to her cheeks, her eyes looking downwards.

When she finds the courage to look up back at him, she finds him closer than before. She locks eyes with him, heart beating out her chest.

He smiled, opened his arms for her and she ran.

But this time,

towards him.
