HOYA'S POV:

 

It's been 2 weeks and I've been trying to convince ----- with my acts, but nothing seems to work. I tried fetching her 

 

everyday, but inside the car, none of us would talk. Everytime  I'd try to hold out a conversation, she would always sleep 

 

or talk to her phone with her friends. I tried giving her gifts, old style courting, getting close to her in our classes, 

 

etc. But none of those worked. This wedding is driving me nuts. 

 

Today is my final attempt. If this would fail, then I'd probably give up and tell my mom the truth.. That this wouldn't 

 

work out.

 

It's Saturday today, so I decided to ask ----- out even if I wanted to spend this day on going out with my friends in the 

 

club. I visited her at their house but to my luck, she isn't there.. She went shopping with her friends. I met her mom, and 

 

this isn't the first time that this had happened.

 

She invited me in eventhough ----- isn't home. I became hesitant at first since I thought I should just go out with my friends as well..

 

"Howon, if you don't mind, I'd like to have a word with you..."

 

She said. I guess a few minutes won't hurt. So I just nodded.

 

We stayed at their garden and sat there..

 

"Here, have some.."

 

Mrs. Jang offered me some chocolate chips and coffee..

 

"That's -----'s favorite.. Everytime she wants her quiet time, she'd stay out here in the garden and eat choco chips with coffee as her drink.. And then she'd read books to relax herself.."

 

I didn't really know what's her purpose of still inviting me at first.. But when she mentioned something about -----, I knew we would be talking about her daughter..

 

"Mrs. Jang... Uhhmm.. Sorry if I would be asking this.. But, what if our marriage won't work out? Just.. what if.."

 

"Howon ah.. Please make my daughter fall for you.."

 

WHAT? Her answer startled me. Why would she ask me such things? Yes, we'll be getting into this wedding and all, but she can't possibly fall for me since we've been bashing each other for five years. Her mom sounded serious. She continued without even looking at me..

 

"You see, just like my daughter ----- ah, I was also dragged into an arranged marriage. I don't even love his father at 

 

first.. I actually hated him. Just like -----, her father was my enemy.. I guess my daughter had the same fate as mine.."

 

She gave me a weak smile.. I can tell that by her eyes.. This conversation is quite serious..

 

"But Mrs. Jang, what are you trying to tell me?"

 

"Her father and I fell inlove with each other after 10 months since we got married.. It was hard, and horrible for me.. 

 

Before we fell inlove, we've been through a lot of petty fights.. I've seen him cheating on me since I really didn't have 

 

his heart at first.. That hurt me, a lot, since I was the first one who fell for him.. But as much as possible, I tried to 

 

keep it from him.. Until a lightning struck his heart I guess.. He realized that he loves me.."

 

She paused and we let out a slight chuckle..

 

"I didn't invite you here today to tell you our love story.. I invited you here because I wanted to tell you something 

 

important..

 

Howon, try to love my daughter before you both get married.. Try to make her fall in love with you as well.. I know that  you two are still very young to get in these kinds of stuffs.. I might sound selfish right now, but I hope you understand  that I'm doing this for her.. She's the only treasure I have.. I don't want her to feel the hurt I felt when I married her dad.. I want her to marry the man she loves.. So before you finally get married, I'm hoping that the both of you are finally in love.. If you get what I mean.."

 

She explained everything but my mouth seems to be glued. I can't speak. I couldn't react at first. I was about to answer her but then..

 

"Hey moooommm! I'm home!" 

 

----- came skipping her way to us with full of paper bags in her hands..

 

"Hey mom I bought you so-- Oh hey Howon.. What are you doing here?" She asked, I guess she was surprised that I was there..

 

"He went here to ask you out on a date, but since you went out shopping with your friends, I invited him to have a cup of coffee with me, and you know, talk about stuffs.." Mrs. Jang explained.

 

"Oh, well.. I'll go upstairs first, I'm gonna change.." She said, and with that, she went off..

 

"Mrs. Jang..." I sighed heavily.. "I can't promise you, but I'll try." 

 

She plastered a wide smile in her face and gave me a motherly hug..

 

"Thanks Howon! Stay here for dinner. I'll be inviting your parents as well.. I guess we really have to start working on your wedding.."
