Her Childhood Friends

Oppas' Little Girl

"Please? It's only this once! I never asked you for anything," Hoya pleaded. He was following IU through the busy hallways, hoping that she would join the dance club. He figured if IU joined the dance club, he could get closer to her. IU sighed and stopped in front of the school's announcement board. It was the busy time of the month to select elective, and IU had the choice of choosing dance or performing arts.

"Sorry, Hoya, but I'm not a good dancer. Maybe next time," IU said in a weak smile. She was getting a bit tired with Hoya's pleads, but Hoya wouldn't stop. He snatched away the pen IU was holding and raised it high in the air. IU widened her eyes as she tried to reach for her pen. "Hey! Give it back, Hoya!"

"Not until you agree to join the dance club! Please, IU? I'm going to be lonely!" Hoya begged. IU frowned. She didn't understand why he was so desperate, and neither did Hoya himself understand the reason.

After five minutes of trying to reach for the pen, IU finally gave in and signed her name for dance. She bitterly stared at the paper and dropped the pen back to where she had found it. She turned to face Hoya and scowled.

"There, are you happy?" she asked with a hint of rudeness in her voice. To her shock, Hoya seemed awfully delighted about her signing her name for dance. Hoya quickly signed his name below IU's name and smiled at her.

"Thanks! You're the best!" Hoya exclaimed. He pulled IU into a hug, but stopped when he realized how embarrassing it was to hug a girl. He pushed IU away from him and apologized for the sudden skin contact. Before IU could reply, he took off and disappeared into the busy crowd. IU scrunched her forehead, feeling a bit worried for Hoya.

He's been acting strange, IU thought, puffing her cheek. Right then, someone poked her cheek and IU accidentally spat out the air she had stored in her cheek. She groaned and glared at the person who had poked her, but suddenly restored her angry expression to a sweet one.

"M-Myungsoo!" IU exclaimed. Myungsoo grinned and pinched IU's cheek. He let out a chuckle and patted her head.

"What's up? You look kind of upset," Myungsoo said. IU quickly shook her head.

"N-No! I was just… Wait, why did you poke me?" IU asked, frowning. She crossed her arms and watched Myungsoo's confused expression. Myungsoo stared down at his fingers, and shrugged his shoulders in reply.

"I'm…not too sure," Myungsoo mumbled. "I guess it was just for fun."

IU sighed. "Well, fun or not, please don't poke me again."

Myungsoo smirked and saluted IU as he walked away. IU heaved a sigh and stared back at her name on the board. She groaned as she dragged her feet back to class, dreading to go to her soon-to-be elective.

"Alright, everyone! My name is Dongwoo, and feel free to call me Dongwoo. My last name isn't very important, so there's no need for the last name introduction. I'm your dance teacher, so if you didn't sign up for dance, then you may leave," Dongwoo announced. No one left from their seat, for they all signed up for dance. IU, who was sitting in at the front, nervously gripped her finger on her chair. Dongwoo quickly scanned around the room and nodded his head. "Okay then… To get into this elective, you must show us if you are worthy to dance. By auditioning-"

"Wait, we have to audition first? In front of everyone?" IU whispered to Hoya, who was beet red. Hoya, who felt his heart thumping against his chest every time IU glanced at him, nodded his head shyly. IU dropped her jaws and groaned.

"Is there anything wrong, IU?" Dongwoo asked. IU forced a weak smile and shook her head. Dongwoo cleared his throat and stepped back. "Alright, who's up first?"

This could be my chance to impress IU, Hoya thought, stealing a quick glance at IU. IU seemed a bit pale, but Hoya's excitement blinded him from noticing. Hoya shot his hand up in the air, and Dongwoo proudly pointed the boy, knowing how well he danced. However, a girl behind Hoya got up, mistakenly thinking that the teacher had pointed at her.

"Um, student, I've called on H-"

"Here's my CD. I go by the name Luna, and I'll be quick," the student promised. Dongwoo nodded his head and did not hesitate to slip the CD inside the CD player. In a few seconds, the music blasted in the gym and the young girl was already grooving to the music. As IU watched the girl's moves with her wide, brown eyes, she couldn't help but feel a bit too nervous.

She's amazing! IU thought, admiring the dancer. How am I ever going to be that good? This class is for experts, isn't it? Argh! I can't surpass her! I can't even dance well. Why am I here? Oh yeah, because of Hoya. Why couldn't I just sign up for the music elective? That would've been much easier. At least I wouldn't be an outcast, right? I'm probably a decent music player. I can-

"IU, you're up!" Dongwoo called. IU squeaked and bolted up. A few kids giggled at her and IU's cheeks went on fire. She took small steps towards the center of the gym, and apologized to Dongwoo for not having a CD prepared. Dongwoo nodded his head and sighed. "Since you don't have a CD prepared, I guess we'll have to use this CD."

As Dongwoo slipped the CD into the CD player, IU wiped her sweaty hands and stared at the crowd. All eyes were on her, and she could feel her legs shaking. Music started playing, and IU froze. Her eyes went wide and she could only stare at the audience. What would they be thinking? Did they already dislike her? Were they judging her already?

Laughter arose in the crowd, and IU found herself dancing in the most embarrassing way she had ever danced. Her moves were choppy and childish, and her shoulders were feeling quite heavy. At the corner of her eyes, she spotted Dongwoo trying his best not to laugh. There was a wide, taunting smile right on his face, and it made IU uncomfortable.

Hoya slapped his face and shamefully looked away. His cheeks burned in embarrassment and he could only take small peeks at IU's dancing. Though it was quite horrible to see someone dance so badly, he couldn't help but feel a bit…shy? Her unprofessional skills appealed to Hoya's eyes. They were charming and cute, and that was all he could see.

As Dongwoo turned off the music, IU felt tears swell up in her eyes. Her cheeks were burning from embarrassment, and her heart wouldn't stop beating. Dongwoo pulled IU to the side and chuckled lightly.

"That was…cute," Dongwoo complimented her. IU stared down at her shoes. "Hoya, why don't you come up and show everyone how dancing is done?"

Hoya gasped when his name was called. He quickly got up from his seat and rushed to the center of the gym.

To dance after IU? Wouldn't that just embarrass IU even more? What if she hates me for dancing so well? What if- Hoya's thoughts were interrupted when Dongwoo proudly played the same music IU had danced to. In seconds, Hoya immediately danced to the beat. To everyone's eyes, his moves were flawless and graceful. Some moves were swift, and other moves swayed the audiences' heart. Hoya's dance even impressed IU, who felt like crying even more.

However, in Dongwoo's eyes, he saws several flaws. He frowned, and his expression darkened. When Hoya danced, his moves were choppy for only a split second. He stumbled over his feet for a few time, but he quickly recovered before anyone could point out his mistake. Dongwoo was able to catch Hoya's mistakes with his hawk-like eyes, and he was obviously disappointed.

"Dongwoo," IU whispered. Dongwoo looked down and stared at IU.

"What is it"? Dongwoo asked, his tone a bit snappy. IU flinched and bit her bottom lip.

"I…I'll be right back!" IU replied. She rushed out of the gym, thinking that Dongwoo was upset because of her unprofessional dance moves. Dongwoo blinked his eyes, and Hoya quickly stopped dancing. Everyone's eyes followed IU until she disappeared out the doors. Dongwoo turned off the music and glanced at Hoya. For a moment, Dongwoo froze.

Hoya was glaring at him. It was the first time Dongwoo had ever seen Hoya glare at Dongwoo himself with such hatred in his eyes. Dongwoo stared back at Hoya, and his shocked eyes followed right behind Hoya when he left to catch up with IU. Dongwoo scratched his head and turned to the crowd of students.

"Free time for five minutes," Dongwoo announced. Everyone cheered as Dongwoo left the gym, ready to catch up with Hoya and IU.

"This is so embarrassing," IU muttered. Tears were already trickling down her cheeks while she was running away. How could she think of signing up for dance? She turned back, and realized that no one was following her. Heaving a sigh, she began to jog and take deep, shaky breathes.

Exactly at that moment, IU accidentally bumped into someone tall and muscular. She yelped and fell on her bottom, and so did the person she bumped into. The two groaned in synch,

"Watch where you're going…" IU paused and stared at the three unfamiliar boys. She frowned, and quickly got up. She dusted off the dust from her skirt then glared at the boys. "Who are you? You guys aren't from this school. Tell me your names!"

The boy who IU bumped into widened his eyes. "That voice…"

"It's Jieun!" a happy tone exclaimed. IU widened her eyes in fear.

They know my name? IU thought. The excited boy wrapped his arm around IU's waist, which caused her to blush deeply. "W-What are you doing?"

"It's really her! It's really Jieun!" the same boy yelled happily, but quiet enough for only the four to hear.

"I can't believe we actually found her," another guy with jet-black hair said. In seconds, IU was pulled away from the joyous boy's grasp. IU turned around and blushed even harder when she noticed that it was Myungsoo who had pulled her away from the stranger. Myungsoo narrowe his eyes and coldly glared at the the three strangers.

"What in the world are you three?" Myungsoo asked bitterly. Hoya and Dongwoo followed right behind Myungsoo, panting and glaring at the three strangers. The stranger who had bumped into IU cleared his throat and stood up. He smirked, and stared at Myungsoo with mischeif in his eyes.

"My name is Wooyoung, the guy who hugged Jieun is Yoseob, and this other guy is nicknamed Thunder. We're IU's childhood friends," Wooyoung introduced. Then, he glared at Myungsoo and scowled at him. "Now who in the world are you?"

Author's Notes: Okay, don't hurt me yet! Lots of you guys have been requesting the three childhood friends as one of the three members (if not, all) to be EXO. Instead, I have chosen Yoseob, Wooyoung, and Thunder for a few reasons! First off, I have made several promises to make an WooU, SeobU, and/or ThunderxIU fanfic to others. However, since I'm so busy with being prepared for high school, I've decided to let them as a cameo here. Second of all, another story is coming up after I finish up Oppa's Little Girl, That Cold Wall Called Fate or Business Engagement. Who's it going to feature, you're asking? Not all of EXO, but only one: Baekhyun. So you'll see Baekhyun in the new story. My third and final reason is that Yoseob, Wooyoung, and Thunder fit the roles much better. I'm not familiar with the EXO members (OTL), so if I want to get the plot flowing and less awkward than it is, these three would be the best choice since I'm familiar with writing about them. Okay, whew! That's my long explanation and excuse about how these guys are…well, these guys. I'll try to post up the next chapter soon, alright? Until then, bye! :)

@cheekylittlechubba: Thank you! :) Well, it's a sudden cliff-hanger, and I never saw too much cliff-hanger endings, so that's probably why it feels different.

Chapter 43: It's so good!!! Since authornim decided to let readers think of their desired-fantasy ending... It just feel different... Like we as readers don't know what authornim really want the ending to be - even if authornim mentioned that it was originally MyungU...

Despite that, I still love the story ^^

@Diobic: Hahaha~ XD It was originally supposed to be a MyungU fanfic, but at that time, there were already a ton of MyungU stories and people were cheering for different couples. So I thought that I should just let people think of their desired-fantasy ending and ta-da! XP

Chapter 43: ... Why must you do this? Now I must suffer, hanging off the cliff. D: Now I must rely on my imagination, which isn't really helpful.

@xiahope: Actually, she didn't end up with anybody. The ending is kind of a cliff-hanger; you choose who you want IU to be with. X)
