Ch 23. Reflection

Jungkook

I didn’t imagine that I could be so gullible to believe that was Yeo Jin. 

I did realise that her voice sounded different. 

I knew that something was strange when when she asked me to come there. 

The girl I knew wouldn’t ask me to come all the way to Busan just because she was scared. 

But I rushed off without thinking clearly. 

My feelings clouded my judgement. 

I was too panicked that something bad would have happened to her. 

I should have listened to my Hyungs. They were right.

We arrived in the dorm. 

We did it. We got back in one piece. 

We were both shaken after that incident. 

It was one of the most terrifying moments in my life.

Yoongi hyung was struggling to press the code to our dorm. His hand was shaking. 

“Here Hyung, let me do it.” I offered.

The sound of the door opening was music to my ears.

I’ve never thought that I would be so happy to step foot in my dorm.

Inside, I saw my hyungs sitting on the sofa anxiously. 

All of them stood up and rushed towards us when they saw us entering.

They huddled around us in a circle for a hug. 

Without knowing it, I felt very overwhelmed and felt tears streaming down my cheeks. 

This was all to much for me to handle. 

Yoongi hyung embraced me and patted my back. 

“It’s okay. We are home.”

Once everyone calmed down, we sat around the kitchen table. 

Everyone was silent. I didn’t know where to start.

All I knew was that I need to contain all of the havoc I have caused.

“Jungkook, do you think you can call Yeo Jin?” Jimin hyung suggested.

I nodded. That was a good idea. Most of this does concern about the two of us. 

I didn’t know if she would still be awake at this time. 

It was already 2am but we desperately needed to sort this out before anything escalates further.

It’s worth a shot.

I borrowed Yoongi hyung’s phone to call Yeo Jin’s mum’s phone. Hopefully the phone was with Yeo Jin.

To my surprise, she picked up almost immediately.

“Jungkook.” she said

“Hey, I’m sorry for calling you at this time.” I apologised.

“It’s okay. I couldn’t sleep anyway.” she admitted. 

“My Hyungs are here. Do you mind if I put you on loudspeaker?” I asked.

“No, go ahead.” 

Namjoon hyung took a deep breath and started. 

“Alright, I think we all heard about the situation. So I think we need to find a solution to make all the fans calm down.” 

“Clearly, there are some sasaeng fans out there who don’t like the idea of Jungkook being with a girl, but I know that they would listen to anything we say.” Seokjin hyung said. 

I nodded in agreement. 

Sasaeng fans were possessive but they would do anything to make their idols happy. 

“Maybe if I ask the fans to not hurt Yeo Jin or invade our privacy they would listen.” I suggested.

“Yes, I’m sure they will. But other fans out there need an explanation why you’re so protective over Yeo Jin. This all started because of that picture of the two of you holding hands.” Hoseok hyung said.

“Well you can tell them that we grew up together. That we’re good friends.” Yeo Jin said in a matter of fact.

The hyungs eyed at me suspiciously.

“Really? That’s it? Because even I don’t believe that.” Taetae hyung argued.

The rest of them looked at me waiting for an explanation.

“I think now is the time, Jungkook.” Jimin hyung told me.

Jimin hyung was right. There was only one option. 

I just didn’t imagine this to come so soon. 

I gathered enough courage to say what was in my heart.

“Yeo Jin, I’ve been wanting to tell you this.” I said.

My heart was racing and I was extremely nervous to say it.

“I really like you and I want to be with you.” 

There was a moment of silence. My hyungs were gritting their teeth from the suspense. 

Oh no, is she hesitating? Maybe I should have went somewhere quiet? 

I didn’t imagine confessing to her on the phone nor did I plan to say it in front of my hyungs.

This was by far not the most romantic confession. 

I should have been more prepared.

I should have looked to her in the eye and gotten her a rose like the time I did for the Boy in Luv music video. 

I mentally scolded myself for my very impromptu public confession.

“Listen, if you…” I started.

“I like you too, Jungkook.” she whispered, cutting me off.

My eyes widened.

“You do?” I asked out of disbelief.

“Yes! I really love you.” she said unmistakenably. 

Hoseok hyung and Taetae hyung jumped out of their seat out of excitement. 

Jimin hyung hugged me out of relief. 

Namjoon hyung, Jin hyung and Yoongi hyung simply patted my back and looked at me like a proud parent. 

I smiled. I was the happiest man on earth right now. 

I heard her giggle from the other line.

We were both happy. 

Now let’s hope everyone else can accept that.
