The Night Before
OVERDOSE: Midnight MemoriesIt is past midnight when I find Minseok sitting alone in the front yard of Kris’ mansion. I walk slowly towards him while holding a cup of hot blood. Realizing that I come, Minseok turns around to see me. He smiles as I sit beside him on the ground. “This.” I give him the cup. He takes it and sips it slowly. “You should take a rest.” I say. “Soon it will be tough for all of us.”
“I know.” He replies. “But I just can’t feel relax.” He continues. “Sitting here while looking to the dark sky gives me such comfort.”
I look at him before putting my head on top of his shoulder, gazing the sky, the stars looking back at me. “What do you think will happen towards all of us?” I whisper.
“I don’t know.” Minseok sighs. “I can’t even bring myself to imagine the result.”
“If we die?” I ask, not realizing that it’s such stupid question.
Minseok chuckles. “If we die?” He repeats. “We just die.”
“Minseok…,” I silently whisper, “I don’t mean like that… I mean… I am afraid if we die…,” I breathe softly.
“Why are you afraid? If we die, it’s just like sleeping.” Minseok caresses my hair. “Nothing else.” He kisses the top of my head. “It’s better to die in a battlefield than doing nothing.”
“I know… I know…,” I nod, “I just don’t want you to get hurt.”
“Sarang…,” Minseok hug my arm tightly, “Listen, the one who will highly get injured is you. Not me. Not the other boys. But you. You are the one who is in the most danger.”
I stay quite for a while. That’s also true. But, the other are in danger too.
“They want you.” Minseok hisses. “They never want us. They want you.”
“I’ll protect you… I’ll… protect all of you…,” I speak, swal
