There for You
Broken Promise(2016)
(T.O.P POV)
I smiled for the camera, a photo memory of my family visiting me in Germany.
With Inhye in my arms and Inbok stood in front of us, it was a simple and beautiful moment for us
We were in front of the iconic Brandenburg Gate, as typical tourists, nobody would be minding us.
“Thank you very much!” Dara thanked, as she stepped out to receive the camera from the helpful person.
As she was the best English Speaker between us, Dara took it upon herself to be the face of our trip. She would communicate with staffs, with Berliners and others… English really is a handy language to know!
With Dara coming back to me, showing the camera, I put Inhye down next to Inbok.
“Omo, what a great picture!” I noted as I looked over the photo. “Do you think we could hire them as our photographer for the day?” I jokingly asked.
Dara chuckled her response to me. She then turned her attention to our babies, “Inhye, do you want to walk for a while?” she asked, crouching down to our daughter.
Inhye nodded, as she took her Orabeoni’s hand.
“Where to now App-App?” Inbok asked, eager to see more of Berlin.
“Let me just ask your Nanay.” I told him, putting the camera away.
Dara stood up straight, a confused look on her face.
“We have two options, we can go towards the Reichstag and the Soviet War Memorial which is straight ahead that way and go through the park.” I indicated, my hand going towards the Brandenburg Gate. “Or we could go through this way towards the Berlin Wall and see the Holocaust Memorial.” I pointed towards the left of us.
“And what if we circled back from the Berlin Wall to the Reichstag?” Sandara asked.
“Omo. You really are smart! I didn’t think of that!” I told her.
“Does that sound like a plan to you?” She reassured.
“Dae!”
I adjusted my coat before joining hands with Inhye. “Arraso! Kaja!” I announced.
Dara chuckled as she followed us with Inhye’s stroller. “Make sure to stay close me!” She said in her laughter.
“Dae, we need to stay close to Nanay!” I reiterated to my babies.
My grip automatically tightened onto their hands as the fear of loosing one of them crossed my mind.
“Now where are we going?” Inbok asked as we started walking towards the Brandenburg Gate.
“We are going through here, to turn left and to go to an important memorial.” I explained to them.
“A memorial?”
“Dae, much like Seoul and South Korea, Berlin and Germany have lots of history. And that history is commemorated in memorials and monuments, like museums.”
