What Happens Now?
Hyung's Yeobo
Author’s POV
Jiyong unlocked the door before entering. He noticed that a lot of things have changed in their house. Things he didn’t really take notice before when he and Kiko arrived. Everything was already baby-proofed. He chuckled when passing by the playpen set up in the living room.
He didn’t remember seeing that when he entered the house before. In fact he didn’t even notice that the table's corners were already covered with rubber ends.
He looked at the door to his room and he sighed.
He unlocked the door and opened it. When he the lights, he was surprised to see stacks of post cards and envelopes on his bed. He wrinkled his forehead.
He remembered leaving his room clean so why was it there?
He pulled his chair near the bed and he scoffed. He knew the postcards were from him, when he was trying to hide from his hyung.
But the envelopes beside them filled his curiosity. He took one and saw that it was for him but with different address written on it. It matched some of the post card address that he sent and it seems that someone has been trying to send him letters with the address from the postcard. He wrinkled his head before opening one and he read what was inside.
Coffee…
It’s probably the hundredth letter I’ve sent to you. I’m still not sure where you are and where to search for you. I’ve been doing my best. If I could, I would have gone to the places your post cards came from… But whenever I sent letters there, it was always sent back to me. It wasn’t even a real place.
I’ve done nothing but regret when I didn’t tell you how I felt that night. I should have pushed myself to confess to you but I struggled with myself.
I am in love with you…
I’m still in love with you…
But sometimes I think you left because you didn’t feel the same and I was the only one who looked at it differently. Maybe my judgement was clouded, thinking that you’re also feeling the same.
If I could, I want to relive that moment when we were always together on the rooftop. I’d always steal a glance at your sleeping face. I loved staying in the rooftop because you were there. I always looked forward to the time we’d spend together… I always wanted to be with you.
I hope you come back soon. I have so many questions to ask you…
Where are you?
Jiyong opened more of the letters and read them all. It all came from Dara. Jiyong bit his lower lip as he read the letters.
Aside from that he noticed a package under all the letters.
He wrinkled his forehead and looked at the package. It was from his father.
He sighed before opening it.
The package had a thick envelope inside and also a separate small envelope. He opened the big one first and he saw that it was a title of their old house named after him. He wrinkled his forehead and looked at the other papers. When he pulled out all the contents of the big envelope, a bankbook fell on the floor. He reached for it and when he opened it, it was full of money and the last day of the deposit was his birthday last year.
He immediately put the papers and bank book on the bed and opened the small envelope. Inside the envelope was a picture of his father and real mother. At the back of the photo,
Happy birthday my son. Love, Mom
Jiyong looked at the picture again and stared at the woman in the picture. She looked very beautiful and for some reason a smile escaped his lips.
No wonder his father didn’t pay him much attention… he looked just like his mother.
Seunghyun: Hey…
Seunghyun called out to Jiyong. Unkowingly, Jiyong had left his room door open as he was absorbed into the letters that he was reading. He didn’t even notice that Seunghyun had already arrived in the house.
Jiyong: Hey… sorry I got distracted.
Seunghyun: (shakes his head) don’t worry, we got everything settled in. We made some renovations upstairs. Had to get rid of the extra rooms we had to give space for the baby.
Jiyong: Hyung…
Seunghyun: Hmm?
Jiyong: Sorry…
Jiyong looked at Seunghyun who only smiled at him. Seunghyun went near Jiyong and noticed the picture he was holding.
Seunghyun: So you opened it already. Your dad begged me to give this to you no matter what.
Jiyong: Where is the old man?
Seunghyun: The last time I heard he’s travelling with his little kid.
Jiyong: I see…
Seunghyun: Well… wanna see what I did upstairs?
Jiyong: (Smiles) sure.
Jiyong stood and Seunghyun went ahead. Jiyong placed the photo on his night stand before following Seunghyun to see the new stuff upstairs.
Jiyong was amazed when he got upstairs. The extra rooms on the left side were joined into one and in there was a large play area for the baby. There were shelves of books and a rocking chair at the side.
Jiyong: Did you join up all the rooms up here?
Seunghyun: no. We still left two guest rooms in case people decide to stay the night. I moved all of my things up here and so the room beside yours is vacant now.
Jiyong: It feels kinda awkward coming back here now. You have a family and…
Bom: Stop with the nonsense Ji. It’s not like we don’t know each other.
Seunghyun: (chuckles) Bom’s right. If I remember correctly she was supposed to be your fiancé right?
Bom: yah!
Bom immediately hit Seunghyun’s chest and he just laughed. Jiyong shook his head.
