Day 14- Revelation
To Death, my friendChapter 14
Day 14- Revelation (Monday Noon)
---
She was deep in thoughts and wondering what was going on around her. Everything had to be revealed today, even if she wasn’t going to like it or not.
She was taken aback when she heard the sudden knocks on her door. She unfolded her arms and held the door’s handle as she asked who it was in a firm voice. A voice tinted with fear answered her and she couldn’t help but sigh and shake her head since she noticed her voice must’ve been stronger than her usual sweet voice. She opened the door to let the guest in.
The young woman enters as the woman guides her to her living room. She makes the blond head sit down on her couch while she goes in her kitchen to prepare something to drink.
“Would you like something to drink?” asks the woman as she presses the ‘on’ button on her coffee maker.
“I’ll take a cappuccino, please,” says the young girl while removing her short army green trench coat and placing it on the couch’s side. She arranges her hair as she sits comfortably, sinking into the soft beige couch.
“How about something to eat?”
“No, thank you, I’ll take nothing.”
The older woman comes back from the kitchen with plate in hands. She puts it on the coffee table between her and her guest. She places one of the mugs in front of the girl while she sits back into her couch with a plate of tiramisu cake.
She takes one piece into and chews it with a blissful look on her face. She takes a sip of her hot drink to finally speak to the young girl in front of her.
“So, Nana, I hope you’re doing fine.”
“Q-quite, how about you?”
“Always fine, you know. I’m hoping this cake will stomp the possible upcoming bitterness.” She smiles as she takes another piece of cake.
Nana, on the other hand, despite not having her heart, feels anxiety eating her. She knows she’s going to feel really guilty when she will spill the beans. She fakes a smile, “I should start with something easy and not too hard to digest then.”
“Like the fact that you’re not a new neighbor, am I right.”
Nana swallows hard as she continues. “You’re right. I am not the new neighbor’s daughter or anything like that. In fact, I had to lie just to speak to you. Speaking to you was my priority ever since I got myself into this mess.”
“What mess are you talking about?”
“Well, Jungah unnie… I am not human, I would like to show what I really am, but I fear that it might shock you.” She looks up to see Jungah still chewing on her cake while looking straight into her own cup.
“What are you then? Something that came out from a science fiction book? Or a horror movie?”
“In a way, yeah, I am something that came out from these supernatural and horror novels you human wrote. I am a creature, a creature made of black particles. We are ‘human shaped’ and we live in a similar way to humans. Except, we do not have this thing called emotions. That’s the easy way to explain. Another detail, there are also light creatures…” Nana went on with her explanation that sounded similar to the one Yujin had given to Lizzy.
After a minute of explanation, Jungah passed her hand through her hair. “That explains why you sound so dull today compared to the last time we met. But that still doesn’t answers the questions that have been going through my head. What about the incident that happened that day? And… Jooyeon?”
“This is the mess that I’ll be talking about…
… You, Kim Jungah, and other people that have met this girl, that I will call A, all lost your memories that were related and that you have lived together with A. Not only that, if something had happened because of A, like your meeting with Lee Jooyeon at least 20 years ago, they were forgotten too. That is why you didn’t know who Jooyeon was until an event similar to the past happened so you could recall her.”
