White Lies
The Boy's Letter“Jagiya. Are you okay? You have been spacing out lately.” Changmin asked Yejin. They were at the living room; they had just finished eating dinner. It was a Friday night and Changmin had no schedules.
“I’m okay.” Yejin replied to Changmin. She still had not told him what happened last month. She could not bring herself to say those words that she did not believe herself.
“Dad, look what do you think of it?” Changjin asked his Dad as held up a freshly drawn picture. It resembled the garden that they had just outside with the tree house and swing.
“Dad. Junsu samcheon called awhile ago. He said he’ll come over tomorrow to play soccer.” Changjin said as he continued to draw more on another paper. Changmin took the finished one and taped it on the wall. He had specifically arranged the furniture so that a wall would be free of anything for Changjin’s artworks.

“Jagi. What is that you’re taking?” Changmin asked Yejin as she took another pill.
“Vitamins jagi.” Yejin answered curtly as she put back the medicine bottle back at the medicine cabinet.

“Jagi, are you okay?” Changmin asked Yejin worriedly as she accidentally dropped a plate while washing the dishes.
“I’m okay.” Yejin replied weakly.
“Are you sure? Why don’t you go to Changjin? I’ll finish up here, you look pale.” Changmin suggested as he got hold of Yejin’s shoulders.
Vitamins? Lies. Meet up with college friends? Lies. Just tired? Lies. Yejin told Changmin lies one after the other. She could not bear to say to him or her son that she only had a few months to live. How could she? God was playing a cruel joke; it was not even funny from the beginning.
I apologize for the shortness of this update. College life and my academic jeopardy... I just hope everything turns out okay. In any case I'm working on it. Until then...
always keep the faith.
