Chapter 49

 

After that book incident, I decided that I should not mingle with HyunAe whenever she’s reading a book seriously or if it’s the time of the month. I’m not really sure about the last reason, since I don’t really have the guts to ask her, but still…

 

“I’m home!” I said as I set foot inside the house. I got no response from her so I checked my watch. It read 12:36am. Maybe she’s already sleeping. But her usual bedtime is around 1.30-2am… I quietly went to her room to check on he, but to my surprise, she’s not there. From what I remember, she said she would be going home tonight since she doesn’t have a work of some sort. Where the heck is she???

 

As I waited for her, I went to the bathroom to get myself cleaned from all the sweat and dirt that I acquired from today’s activities. 

 

I wasted about an hour under the shower since I want all the dirt to be washed away, and still there’s no sign of HyunAe.

 

I texted her as soon as I have my clothes back on and for the next 15 minutes, I sent about 7 messages.

 

I’m really getting worried and pissed from what was happening. Another 15 minutes passed before I decided that I should call her.

 

“The subscriber cannot be reached. Please try your call later.”

 

Fail.

 

All the negative things are running through my head as the clock strikes 3am. where the heck is she???

 

I really kept on moving around the house, trying to get myself preoccupied, but the thought that maybe she met an accident on her way home is creeping up on me. 

 

Few minutes before 3:30, I heard the beep from the door. Someone opened it. And it was HyunAe.

 

“Oh. Chagi-ah. You’re still up. Still playing that game on your phone?” she said in a jolly manner that totally pissed me off.

 

I’m here, all worried about her and she would just show up in that mode???

 

“Where have you been?!” I can no longer control my tone. I was worried sick!!!!!!

 

“I hanged out with my friends.” she answered casually.

 

“You hanged out with them without even telling me? I stayed up all night waiting for you, worried about you since you’re not replying to any of my texts and your phone is out of reach! You should’ve at least informed me!”

 

“I sent you a message!” she somehow yelled back. From that, I can tell that she’s getting mad too. “I sent you a message around 5 in the afternoon, telling you that, yes, I’ll be coming home and I guess it would be late and there’s not food for you BECAUSE I’M GOING OUT WITH MY FRIENDS!” 

 

My forehead knotted from what she said since I know I didn’t receive anything from her.

 

I quickly grabbed my phone and scanned through the messages, NONE. I showed her my phone as a proof that I didn’t really receive the message.

 

“You just deleted it.” she told me. “You can check my sent items if you don’t believe me.”

 

“Okay, let’s say that you really send a message earlier, then why aren’t replying to any of my messages? Why aren’t you answering any of my calls??”

 

“My phone died!” she said. 

 

“You should’ve used your friend’s phone to text me again!” If you want something, there are ways!

 

“I don’t know your number.” she simply said.

The rest of that conversation is not really shareable to the public as HyunAe and I really stood on our ground. It was another gruesome fight between us. And I don’t wish for something like that to happen again. Never.

 

The rest of the days of the week isn’t a week worth remembering. Sheesh. It was pure cold treatment from both of us. No one’s talking.
