Chapter 43

It was a fun dinner with her family. It was better than what I thought would happen. Her Dad is not that bad, he’s actually joking most of the times. He loves his daughter so much that he even told me a few secrets about HyunAe. Even her little brother, who likes Shindong hyung more than me, joined us and HyunAe gave him her death glare every time he says something about her. They are saying a lot about her. Most of which are her flaws. Thinking that maybe by saying those, it would turn me off. But no.  I actually fell for her more by hearing those things. Especially the thing about the mascots and the likes, how she hates them.

It was really a fun family dinner. I wish I can come back and experience this thing with her family once more.

“So… where’s your room?” I asked her after dinner and was about to go back to the living room.

“Upstairs. Would you like to see it?”

“Yeah. I mean, I can get something about you in your room right?”

We took the flight of stairs and went to room that was exactly just after it on the left.

Far from a pink or pastel colored room, HyunAe’s room wasn’t. It was blue all over the place. From her walls, ceiling to her floor.

“Are you, by any chance, a SuJu fan?” I jokingly asked her. “Everything around here is blue.”

“I really like the color. Even before your group officially announced that it was your color.” She defended and sat on her bed.

I went around her room, surveyed everything that I can find from the little corner that she has. There are a lot of things on it and just by looking at it, I can tell that she’s interested in a lot of things.

Her things are organized, segregated into their respective kinds. Total opposite of my room.

“Next time, I’ll take you to my room back in Mokpo if we have time.” I told her and sat down beside her. “It wasn’t as much as your room, but it holds a lot of things about me too. I spent most of my childhood in that room. I don’t usually allow people to see it since it was all memories, but, I just want to share it with you.” I added and eventually lied down. “I have a study table on the corner of my room, directly across my door. My bed isn’t as big as yours, it was just a single bed.  Well, since I’m just small, I could fit right into it. Unlike your closet that is probably filled with bags and accessories, mine has my soccer ball in it.”

I looked at her and she’s just plainly looking down at me, wholeheartedly listening to whatever it is that I am saying. I just smiled at her with my hair spread out on her bed.

“I won’t say anything more about my room since you’ll be seeing it right?”

She just nodded and smiled back.

“Donghae.” her dad called just as we went out of HyunAe’s room and I was about to pull the door close.

“Yes sir?”

“Come to the porch.” He ordered. “We’ll have a drink.”

“Appa. Donghae is not into alcoholic drinks.” HyunAe said, trying to save me from her dad.

“He will be. After tonight he’ll start drinking.” her dad stated and laughed. “I’ll wait for you outside kid.” He added and walked away. “Donghae not HyunAe.”

We were both thinking silently on how I can pass the drinking invitation of her dad but HyunAe was the one who was MORE pressured with it.

“Hey.” I called her attention and cupped her face with both my hands, “Don’t worry about me. I don’t think your dad would do anything bad to me. Maybe he’ll just test me or what. I can handle this okay?” I tried to assure her. “If ever you heard me singing out of tune, saying something out loud, or not hearing anything at all, then that’s it. You should come and rescue me.” I joked and smiled at her. “Your Dad’s waiting. I better get going.” I then kissed her forehead and went out.

“Don’t worry. We’re not drinking anything alcoholic tonight.” Her dad said as I sat down across him.

I sighed of relief after hearing that. I don’t have to force myself into drinking something bitter.

HyunAe’s dad started of telling me things about HyunAe again. And this time it was more serious. Not that the talk over dinner is not serious, this one got more emotions in it and more of the dad-son in law talk that I’ve heard from others.

I was answering some of his questions, especially when it was about my feelings about his daughter. It wasn’t filmed so I was really letting myself out to him.

By the end of the night [it was already 12 midnight], we decided to call it a night.

“Hey. I really like you for her. I never said it to anyone yet, just you. And I trust you.” He said and went in to their room.

So where am I going to sleep?

Just as I asked myself that question, her brother opened up his door.

“You can’t sleep with my Noona. You can use my room. I’ll just sleep with my parents.” He said and went to their dad’s room.

“Thanks!” I followed up.

I went to his room and saw that everything I needed was already there.

I met her family, got the chance to mingle with them and I got to learn more about HyunAe. and it makes me tingle more inside, as if I was falling more deeply for her by knowing more things about her.

I fell asleep with a smile on my face.

“I’ll try to visit you guys again soon.” HyunAe told her brother as we waited for the van that would take as back to Seoul.

I was with her dad, he was telling me about his plans of visiting Seoul and he is expecting to see me, still together with his daughter.

I was about to answer him but he already laughed hard after saying that.

“I’ll see you soon.” We all said to each other along with our ‘goodbyes’ and ‘nice meeting you’s’ as HyunAe and I got into the van and fled off.

“How was it? sorry about my dad.” HyunAe asked after a few minutes.

“Don’t say that. I had fun meeting them. I get to learn more things about you throughout the day.” I told her and pulled her to my side. I rested my head on her shoulder and closed my eyes. “It makes me love you more.” I blurted out and smiled.
