Chapter 41

I got HyunAe’s hand before we can even start walking. She just looked at me and I smiled. I admit, I’m scared of her dad, but I don’t want to show HyunAe that I’m scared and all.

“Noona!” someone called as we walked into their house.

“Hey. Don’t you have school?” HyunAe asked.

“I skipped class because you’re coming.”

I just watch them as they catch up with each other. it is somehow similar to how my brother and I interact with each other whenever I go home after a long time.

“By the way, this is JaeHoon, my younger brother.” HyunAe finally introduced her brother. “You already know him don’t you?” she asked her brother while pointing me.

“Of course.” He answered and just like what their father did, he scanned me from head to toe. “I still like Shindong hyung more.”

That remark made me laugh and forgot about the pressure of meeting her family.

“Nice to meet you too Jaehoon.”  I told him andreached out his hand for a hand shake. “How old are you?” I asked.

“11.” He shortly answered.

“If I call Shindong hyung later, are you going to talk to him?” I asked him to somehow, start this off as our bonding.”

“Maybe.” He just said and walked ahead of us. “If you make my Noona cry, I’m going after you. Got it?” he added as he looked back at us.

I nodded in an instant. and he just continued walking.

“Sorry about that.” HyunAe said as we followed her brother.

Phew. Her dad and now her brother.

We went to the receiving area of the house and inside, her father was waiting for us.

As usual, I bowed down to her down to show respect before sitting beside HyunAe.

“Good afternoon sir, I’m Lee Donghae, HyunAe’s husband for more than two months now.” I added.

“I know.” He shortly answered that made me feel butterflies in my stomach again. What have I gotten myself into? AISH.“How was your relationship now?” his father asked. “And why didn’t you tell me about this earlier? Why is it just after 2 months?”

HyunAe answered him but it seems that he’s not contented from it.

“How about you?” he asked me.

“Eh?”

“Won’t you say anything?”

“Uhm… we are still getting used to the idea of being married together and we’re still trying to get to know more about each other for the past months, sir.”  I answered confidently. “I’m really sorry that we visited you only after a long time of being together.”

He just nodded and sat straight up.

“I’m handing over my only daughter to you. And I expect you to treat her the way I treated her. If I hear any news about you and your relationship and I know it’s affecting my daughter, well, you better get ready.” He told me.

I don’t know if it’s an acceptance or what, but it felt as if it is a threat too. The idea that I have to get ready made me swallow a ball of saliva.

“Hey. I’m not against your relationship and this whole marriage thing that you’re in. but since it was my daughter’s feelings that is involved, I have to be cautious for her own sake.” He added and stood up. “Let’s go. My wife prepared a meal for us.” he said and tapped me at the back before heading to the dining room.
