Chapter 40

“Where are we going?” I asked her as I helped her pack a couple of clothes for both of us in her small bag. She didn’t answer me and continued ignoring me until we got in to the van that was waiting for us. “Chagi?”

“Don’t ask. Just sleep during the whole ride okay?” she said and sat at the last seat of the van. Of course I sat down beside her.

The sense of excitement and thrill of going to some place that I don’t know of is there, but something else is telling me that I have to be prepared.

The van started moving and I saw HyunAe plugged in her earphones which mean that I have to do the same or else I’ll get bored to death.

I was about to turn it to the maximum volume when I felt HyunAe tapped my shoulder.

“Juice?” she asked. Holding a bottle of mango juice and a sandwich on the other hand. “I know that you haven’t taken lunch yet, so, here. I packed some for you. You can check the bag for more.”

I took both from her and shared some with her. I don’t usually do that when I’m hungry, but hey. It’s HyunAe.

After a few minutes, I felt HyunAe’s head on my shoulder. She’s sleeping… I slouched a littled from my seat so her head can be anchored directly on my shoulder and she can be a bit comfortable in it.

If only we can open the windows and let the wind touch our faces for a more romantic feel, I would do that.

The van made a stop over at a gasoline station, maybe it will be a long ride.

Maybe I should sleep too.

“Sir, we’re here.” I heard someone say. I guess it was the driver.

I tried to move my arms, but they were around HyunAe’s waist, well, one of my arms, that is, and I couldn’t.

I slowly opened my eyes to adjust to the light and the first thing I saw was HyunAe’s face. She was facing the crook of my neck and I can feel her slow breathing. I’ll never get tired of this view every morning…

“Chagi-ah…” I tried to wake her up. But she didn’t wake up, she just snuggled closer to me and tilted her face a bit upwards…is this a test? God. Those lips are like inviting me to kiss her so she would wake up!

Trying to distract myself from the view and the feeling, I looked outside to check on the place where we are. It was a residential area, perhaps a village of some sort. Are we moving to a new place?

My thoughts are cut by a knock on the window by a man. It was loud enough to wake up HyunAe. as if she’s used to that way of being waken up.

“Hey, we’re here. I guess…” I told her and smiled. She just smiled back and checked her bag. “Let’s go?” I asked and she just nodded.

As soon as we got off the van, the man who knocked loudly at the window was already standing outside, waiting for us.

“Appa…” I heard HyunAe say.

“Get inside.” He said coldly after scanning me from head to toe before walking in to the house first.
