Chapter 2
Watching Over You [repost]
Chapter 2
“What?” she asked. It was obvious that she was shocked by what I am doing.
“I’m your husband-to-be.” I answered without standing up.
“Y-yah…” she called as she pulled me up. “Wae?”
I just pointed out the camera and smiled.
“I thought this would start next week…” she murmured to no one in particular as she accepts the flowers.
I just smiled since I was shocked too. At least she knows something about it unlike me.
The PD shyly went over to our side and handed over a new envelope. They don’t usually do it this way but I guess, since we were running out of time because I had a hard time looking for my wife, they had to hand it over.
Finally, you two have met each other. Get to know each other for the night.
Groom, be a gentleman and get your wife home before midnight.
“So…” I started off, still holding the letter. “Is there are a place you want to go? Do you want to eat?” I asked.
“A-anything will do.” She shyly answered. I can sense that she’s not yet accustomed to my presence, to the cameras and to the attention people are giving us.
“I know a small coffee shop somewhere near. Is that ok with you?”
She just nodded. I then offered to carry her bag, which looks a lot like a varsity player’s bag, but she declined.
“A-ani.. It’s not that heavy.”
We walked to my car which was parked at the far end of the parking lot.
I opened the door for her first before getting in on my side of the car. We were about to leave the area when I noticed that she wasn’t wearing her seatbelt. So I stopped the car, leaned over to her side, reached for her seatbelt and buckled it for her.
“Safety first chagi.” I told her as I went back to my position. Then I realized that I just called her chagi. “a-ah.. e-eh.. uhm..” I startled. “i-is it okay if I call you chagi?”
She just nodded and I swear. I saw her blush.
“You haven’t introduced yourself yet…” I suddenly remembered when we stopped by the intersection. “Not even your name.”
“You didn’t ask for it either.” She replied with a smile.
Sheesh. Me and my manners.
“Sorry. Would you mind introducing yourself now?” I asked.
“How about later?”
“Why not now?”
“Because the stoplight is already green and the other cars are piling up behind us.” She stated with a smile.
I looked up and saw the green light and looked back to check. Yes, cars are piling up behind us.
Couple of minutes after, we arrived at the coffee shop that I was talking about. Coffine Gurunaru. I was thinking about the other coffee shop, Angel in Us, which is just across Lotte World and in a main street, but then I realized this area is polluted. At least Gurunaru is in a quieter place.
She chose the seat at the far end corner of the shop where the couch, and not a chair, is located. I took the seat across her and pulled the other chair for her to put her BIG bag.
“So…” I started off again. Sheesh. Am I being too talkative?
“Should I start introducing myself now?” she asked.
“It’s up to you.” I told her. “I mean. You can tell me more about yourself while eating.”
And just when I blurted out the word ‘eating’ my stomach made a sound.
“We should get something to eat first before I start talking about myself.” She said as she tried to suppress her laugh.
“Sorry.” I said before standing up. “What are you having?” I asked since I already know what to have.
“Iced Peppermint Tea and Panini Roast Chicken Sandwich.”
“Not your fist time here?” I asked as I walked to the counter. She just shook her head and smiled.
Sheesh. We order the same damn food here.
