HAPTER 30

"Guest?" she asked. 

"7pm?" I asked too. That made us check the wall clock. Still got plenty of time to prepare since its just 10:33am.

"So..." she started. “What should we cook for the visitor?"

"Can’t we just order Chinese takeout?" I suggested since I’m not really good in cooking.

HyunAe glared at me after hearing my suggestion.

“Okay. Not going to order Chinese takeout.” I said and started thinking seriously about the food. “Why don’t we just cook the same foods we ate during the house warming party?”

“Why don’t we check the internet for some easy recipes?” she said, totally ignoring what I said.

“Right.” I answered and got my laptop.

After 20 minutes of searching, we finally decided to have 3 meals in a minimum amount since the ‘mission’ says that ‘a special visitor’ not ‘special visitors’. We concluded that there will be one visitor for tonight.

While HyunAe was taking a bath, I scanned the fridge for some supplies. Luckily, we have most of the ingredients that we need. But we still have to buy the others.

“Chagi~ it’s your turn.” She said when she came out with a towel cone on her head. “Did you cross out the ones on the lists that are in the cupboard?”

“Yeah.” I answered while I was getting my towel. “But I included some household needs.” I added before finally entering the bathroom.

“Kimbap right?” I read the list she gave me.

“Yeah. Why?” she stopped, turned and asked.

I was the one pushing the cart while HyunAe is in front, pulling it.

“Chicken?”

“I don’t like eating fish and beef always, so, I somehow modified it. It would still taste the same. Except that instead of fish and beef, it’s chicken.” She explained.

Not really sure about that... I haven’t and I won’t even try doing that... but... anything HyunAe says...

We went to the wet section of the super market and got the fresh dressed chicken that we could find.

Next stop, Sesame oil.

We went to the oil section of the super market and scanned the stacks of oil on the shelves. Canola, Olive, Extra Olive, Corn, etc. But i can’t seem to find the one that i am looking for.

“Chagi-ah. I can’t find it. Maybe they don’t have it here.” I told her. She’s on the other side of the aisle of oil, looking at the other stacks.

“Keep looking for it. I know they have about two brands of Sesame oils here. I used to buy either of the two. But they rearranged the whole supermarket and now, i can’t find it.” She said, continuing on with what she’s doing.

I swear. I’ve checked all the oils that were on the other side, and nothing says ‘SESAME OIL’.

I parked the cart behind HyunAe and joined her into the search for the missing Sesame oil. Well, not really. I was actually looking at her most of the times. Yeah. I’m not concentrating on the quest for the missing Sesame oil, but more on HyunAe.

“There it is!” she suddenly exclaimed and pointed at the topmost part of the shelf. She tried to reach for it for a couple of times and failed before i offered to help her.

I know it sound so rude, but i was actually... how can i explain this... mesmerized? Enthralled? Captivated? By her, alone.

“Where is it?” i asked her as i come closer to her.

She started describing the bottles near it and told me that i should get the one with the green label.

I stood behind her, already hovering over her at some point, trapping her between my body and the shelves.  We were both facing it.

 I reached out for the said Sesame oil. Finally.

“Got it!” i told her and read the label to make sure.

“Yeah. That’s th-.” She said and turned around. We are now, basically, facing each other.

I felt my blood rush up to my head. AISH.

We immediately walked from each other.

I bet i was burning red.

“S-s-so...” we said at the same time.

“You go first.” Again.

“No, you go first.” For the third time.

“W-wife first.” I finally said. She just nodded.

“W-w-we need some other stuff for the other meals. W-we should get g-going now.” She said and walked away. I followed her.
