Chapter 35

After eating, Donghae’s mom asked him to buy some dessert from the nearby convenience store.

“I’ll be quick.” Donghae promised as I went with him to the door. He suddenly pulled my arm and kissed me on the cheek before going out.

Okay… what just happened?

“HyunAe-sshi?” Eomeoni called that brought me back to my senses. She’s still at the table.

I went back to her and started cleaning up the table.

“HyunAe-sshi, what do think of Donghae?” she abruptly asked as I take the plates to the sink.

I nearly drop the plates.

“Eh…?”

“What do you think of Donghae, my son?” she repeated. “Do you find him cute, handsome or what?”

“I don’t deny the fact that your son is attractive Eomeoni… he’s an idol.” I don’t know how to answer her question… I mean I have an answer in minds, but I don’t know how to say it to her.

I started washing the dishes to distract myself from his mom’s question.

“I’ve heard from the news that Donghae dated other artists before, but Donghae never really did confirm anything to me. But that was before, before you came.”

The plate that I was currently washing slipped from my hand.

“Are you okay?” She asked as she heard the sound of clashing plates.

“Deh Eomeoni.” I answered.

“Okay. As I was saying, Donghae really changed in that term since you came. Did he tell you his feelings? As of what I’ve been observing of him, I can tell that he likes you. Are you, of any sort, feeling the same towards my son?” she asked directly.

What have I gotten myself into?

“HyunAe-sshi?”

“I…”

“I’m back!” Donghae suddenly said.

Saved by the bell!

“Umma. I got you your favorite icecream.” He told her and placed the pint on the table.

He went over to where I am and got a spoon for his mom.

“What did my mom tell you when I was away?” he asked in a small voice, but not small enough to be heard by his mom.

“I didn’t say anything. I just asked her if I can help her clean the dishes. She said there’s no need. And that’s just it.” His mom said and winked at me.

Donghae looked at me for assurance and I gave him one.

“Okay…” Donghae said and went to back to the table.

“I have to go.” His mom said as she read the message on her phone. “Your brother is already outside waiting for me.”

“Why didn’t he just go here?” Donghae asked.

“He’s with his girlfriend.”

“Okay. Tell him to dive slowly.” He added as he picked up his mom’s bag.

“I will.” His mom answered and went to the door. Before really leaving his mom looked at me again. “HyunAe, get my number from Donghae’s phone. And text me always okay?” she said and waived before disappearing on the other side of the door.

“AHH…” Donghae sighed deeply as he sat back down to the couch. I sat down beside since he asked me to come over.

He placed his left arm over my shoulders and pulled me to his chest. “That was tiring… but fun… thanks enduring my mom’s talkativeness… Chagi.”
