The hyungs were busy bickering and fooling around as usual before our practice schedules starts. Sometimes I do doubt whether if I’m really the maknae. I mean, how can I not when my supposed to be hyungs are acting so childish. Tsk. But they’re a fun bunch of people so I love them anyway.

I was busy annoying D.O hyung when the door opened revealing a crying little girl that startled all of us. We were at loss of what to do when Suho hyung, the most sensible one approached her. She seemed to have calmed down a little considering that she is only sobbing now and started scanning around the room.

I felt weird when our eyes connected and even weirder when she approached me with small steps. I mean I don’t necessarily have the friendliest face compared to Xiumin hyung or Suho hyung. She stopped right in front of me and looked up with the most adorable bright, watery eyes that rivals Luhan hyung. Instinctively I picked her up in my arms that surprise even myself because I wasn’t that good with kids.

Nodding when I asked whether if she was lost, I probed further asking for her name. I was astounded when she kissed me on the lips unexpectedly and hugged me tight around the neck. My eyes widened in surprise when I’m pretty sure I heard her calling me Appa in an almost inaudible voice.

I was engaged  in my own thoughts of the familiarity of this adorable little doll but couldn’t pinpoint who. We stayed like this for a while when one of the coordinator noonas burst into the room and started shouting “She’s here!”

“SaRang baby!” A female voice resonated. That familiarity of the voice got the little girl jump off of me and ran towards the door shouting “Mummy!” and clinged onto the female.

I was entranced by the sight of the lady. Inwardly I thought to myself that how funny it is that people meet again in unexpected ways. It all became clear now that the little one is a mini replica of the female. When my eyes captured hers, she looked startled and subconsciously muttered my name. How long has it been since I’ve seen her and heard my name rolling from her tongue.

Too long. Memories started flooding into my mind.

A five year old me who wanted to join the other boys in their game of football only to be made fun of. I fell when they pushed me around. A literally little girl, even tinier than me came to my aid and defended me. But of course she fell down too and started crying loudly. The bullies were frightened and went running away. I felt guilty though that she must be in so much pain because of me.

But she caught me off guard extending her hand towards me and started smiling brightly. I was reluctant to hold her hand but that smile of hers captivated me and so I linked hands with her. She led me to the swings and pushed me with all her might. Instantly I felt much better because she told me that she will help to swing all my bad memories away.

We grew up spending a lot of time together bickering and annoying each other. I don’t know why but I’m only like this around her compared to my usual stoic self. Her bubbly, outgoing personality helped her made a lot of friends but that didn’t mean she abandoned me in fact she was the bridge to my other friendships. I could always trust her.
