Lost
Bus Stop StrangersYou spotted the bus pulling away from the bus stop. You cursed under your breath and slowed your pace, figuring there was no point in rushing now that you'd have to wait for the next bus to arrive. You let out a long sigh as you passed by the bench by the bus stop. There were already people sitting on it and there was no where else to sit without being in someone's way.
Hoping to make time pass by faster, you walked along the sidewalk incredibly slowly. Your eyes wandered around you, staring at nothing in particular. You looked – and felt – absolutely bored.
A boy around your age spotted you. Intrigued by your foreign features and the fact that you looked kind of lost, he approached you.
“Do... you,” he started in English. He paused as he tried to think of the words to say. You stopped your slow pacing and looked over at him. His tongue was sticking out of his mouth slightly as he thought. “Help... Uh...”
“Do I need help?” you asked, speaking in fluent Korean.
The boys eyes widened and he seemed very surprised that you could speak Korean so well. He also looked a bit relieved. The look on his face made you smile and laugh softly. You shook your head.
“No. I don't need help, if that's what you want to know,” you said.
“Are you sure you're not lost?” he asked. Your eyebrows rose and you wondered why he would think you were lost. “It's just, you look like you're a bit lost.”
You decided since you were bored and you found him cute, that you wished to keep speaking to him.
“Maybe I'm lost,” you said slowly.
“Where are you going?” he asked. You tell him the name of the university you're attending. “Oh, you just have to take the bus.” He pointed back at the bus stop. You can't stop yourself from letting out a little laugh.
“That's what I planned on doing,” you replied. “I just need to wait for the bus to get here.” You sighed and stared hatefully at the bus stop.
“Oh... So, you really weren't lost?” he asked. He seemed confused.
You hear the screeching the bus pulling to a stop and watch as people start boarding the large vehicle. You quickly excused yourself and joined the crowd.
The boy watched you leave, looking more than a little disappointed.
