The Fragility of Friendships

Into the Digital World

(╯°□°)╯ Hellloooooooooooooooooooo! <3

Here's a lengthy chapter. I couldn't divide it properly or it'll feel a little choppy? Or I'm just weird like that.

Anyway, I had a lot of fun writing this one for some odd reason... So, I hope you guys will enjoy this.

Note: GoC = God of Chaos

Now, on with the show!!!

.................

“It’s… The end of the world.” Yoona said in terror.

They all froze as they watched the God-sized black skull, covered with muscle tissue slowly descending from the dark gate.

The girls couldn’t fathom how massive the monster was.  With its head the size of a planet, its jaws large enough to swallow mountains, and its appearance summed up exactly what they were feeling in two words.

“Holy sh*t.”

Sooyoung nearly fainted from shock.

“The God of Chaos is humungous.” Sunny said, unable to believe this reality when it should only happen in video games.

“This is bad! Seriously bad!!” Hyoyeon waved her hands frantically.

Ever since this adventure started, the girls ran into several near death experiences and came out lucky. But, this time, this time might just be it, they might actually die.

Seohyun touched her temple with her eyebrows creasing in worriment, “Martel-nim! Martel-nim! Are you alright? Please answer us!”

“G-Gir-…”

The static voice drew all of the girls’ attention.

Sunny also tried, “Martel, please help us, guide us, something!  Anything!!

“Martel! Where are you?! Do you see what’s happening!?” Taeyeon yelled urgently.

“Girls… RU-“

Taeyeon kicked the ground with great frustration, “God damn the interference!”

“What the hell do we do!? We can’t fight that thing!!!” Yoona shouted frantically.

Yuri stared at the humungous form of monstrosity in front of them. She found herself unable to move or say anything except stare at the large being.

Jessica stared at Yuri with concern, and soon questioned her eyes. “No, Yuri.”

“I know what you’re thinking, please don’t play hero.” Jessica held Yuri’s arm.

Yuri placed her hands on Jessica’s shoulders and turned herself to face her. Jessica looked at Yuri dead in the eye and a silence settled in between them. Yuri searched her face and found signs of mistrust and fright.

“Sica…”

“Don’t ‘Sica’ me, Yuri!” Jessica shot back upsettingly. “What do you think you’ll be able to do against that!?”

Jessica pointed at the God of Chaos. “You can see how powerful that thing is!”

Yuri parted and tried to argue, but nothing came out as she was rendered speechless from the truth.

Taeyeon stood there, feeling a knot tied itself around as she stared at the phenomenon that petrified everyone.

This is insane. Taeyeon thought. The amount of power this God has… It can destroy the entire world…

She turned herself away from the enemies above and looked at Yuri and Jessica. Taeyeon fell silent staring at the two girls, observing their exchange.

GET OUT OF THERE!!!!” Martel’s voice boomed through with a panicked yell.

Yuri glanced away from Jessica and immediately replied, “Don’t give me that crap, Martel!”

“Yuri!” Jessica yelled at her. She noticed the angered look in Yuri’s eyes.

Taeyeon whispered in a muse, “We’re trapped… We’re trapped either way.”

“I have a bad feeling about this!!!” Yoona blurted out worriedly.

Tiffany looked at Yoona with fear upon her loud comment and began to tremble.

The sky rumbled in accordance to their words, their fears.

“It was a mistake…” Tiffany said quietly, a horrified look upon her features as she realized what was potentially going to happen. “This was all a mistake, wasn’t it? Us teenagers in this world… What the hell are we even fighting for? This isn’t our god damn battle to fight!”

“No… You’re wrong.”

Taeyeon cut in and softened her look when her friends looked like they were losing their confidence. ”Coming into this world was fate. We came into this world together because it was fate.”

“Fate really had a twisted sense of humour.” Jessica said dejectedly, softly drawing her eyes to Taeyeon.

Yuri released a frustrated breath, “So, what now? Are we just going to run away with our tails between our legs and leave this world to be destroyed? Is that what you guys want to do?”

The girls looked at Yuri.

“You don’t understand the situation, Yuri!” Tiffany argued with the heated girl. “It’s not about winning or losing a fight! This is about getting away with our lives! And I’m not sure if all of us are going to make it.”

“What?! What the hell are you saying!? Are you trying to tell me that some of us are going to get killed?!” Yuri raised her voice and closed her hands tightly.

“Yuri.” Taeyeon said with determination, as she tried to get hold of the girl’s gaze.

“Babe…” Jessica whispered quietly, while she watched intently as it wasn’t a good time to interrupt. She hadn’t seen Yuri snap at anyone like this before.

Yuri hated this feeling. The uneasy fear that made her friends second guess themselves. They’d been through far too much to just be held back here because of something as insubstantial as this.

“Don’t you guys get it!?” Yuri exhaled sharply and her jaw clenched. “We won’t ever be returning back home if we don’t beat this!”

Sooyoung held Yuri by the shoulders and shook her, “Are you insane?! We can’t fight them! It’s a frickin’ God! That thing is the size of a planet!”

Yuri shrugged Sooyoung off, “Just because it’s a God, doesn’t mean it’s unbeatable!”

“Yes, it does!”

“Quit it, Yuri! Martel ordered us to retreat!” Tiffany called out.

“I can’t do that! I can’t!” Yuri argued back, giving a look to her friends. “Even if there’s a slim chance, even if there’s no chance, we have to take it! We have to try!

“Why would you go this far!?” Hyoyeon questioned Yuri.

Yuri looked away for a second, then faced them with a riled up expression. “I refuse to let it end like this!”

Everyone aside from Taeyeon looked at her incredulously.

“You don’t know what you’re getting yourself into!” Tiffany said, in an unnaturally serious tone.

“Of course I don’t! You don’t either!” Under all of their scrutiny, Yuri stood strong and answered back.

“Since when did we ever know what we get ourselves into when we entered this world?!”

Tiffany questioned, in a demanding undertone. “You want to go and risk getting yourself killed? What’s wrong with you?! You’re taking this too far!”

“Ppany…” Taeyeon muttered, taking this in gradually; she could feel the tension between the two.

“I won’t die if I try hard enough!” Yuri felt annoyed, that this time she wasn’t joking around.

“Yuri…” Jessica was conflicted as well, her gaze flickering from Tiffany to Yuri.

“You’re not thinking straight.” Tiffany told Yuri, in a matter of fact way. A few gasps were heard around them.

“And what about you?” Yuri challenged. Letting her emotions control her words.

“What happened to the Tiffany that fought alongside us when we encountered the Cerberus?! Even when we didn’t have our magic, we still stood up! We fought to protect each other! You’re the one that’s not thinking straight!” Yuri snapped.

Tiffany felt like she was slapped in the face by Yuri’s words.

This was something Yuri felt she needed to do; something she wouldn’t back down from, no matter the hell that will come.

“What do we even have to protect us anymore?! Nothing’s around us to protect us! All we have is each other! We’re not any less talented or experienced than we are now, we’re more than capable of surviving this!”

Tiffany shouted back, “Then go by yourself! I refuse to let the others get killed because of your careless decisions!”

“Tiffany!” Taeyeon raised her voice. Things were beginning to get out of hand.

“Don’t pull that bullsh*t with me. How can you already conclude that we won’t make it to the end?” Yuri growled, clenching her fists, a considerable amount of fire flared up that blanketed over her and Tiffany. Tiffany looked intimidated.

“I’ll do this myself. I don’t need your help, I’ve always been on my own.”

Yuri took off into the sky with bitter feelings.

“No, Yuri!” Taeyeon scowled upsettingly at her lover and her battle partner. Taeyeon glanced at Tiffany; her face mixed with emotions of anger and sadness.

Taeyeon immediately flew even faster and grabbed Yuri’s leg, then swung her down; making Yuri land back onto the ground harshly.

Yoona and Seohyun watched helplessly at their friends’ disunity, “Unnies please stop…”

Taeyeon tousled Yuri to the ground, which made Yuri grow angrier.

“Stop it you two! We don’t need any more problems right now!” Sunny yelled at the scuffling girls.

They were rolling and grappling each other, until they came to a stop.  Taeyeon who was on top, held Yuri down by the chest with one hand, and the other on her shoulder. Yuri snatched Taeyeon’s collar, her two hands clenching it tightly. The two were left breathing heavily and exchanged a look before separating.

Taeyeon stood up, then Yuri followed suite. But, Yuri didn’t chastise, she merely turned away from facing her friends. She stood there in a stoic position, expecting them to leave.

“Yuri…”

Yuri remained adamant in her spot.

“Yuri, calm down…” Jessica approached her side and hushed softly; her hand taking hold of Yuri’s.

Yuri paused and released a breath, clearly trying to calm down.

Jessica watched Yuri with warmth, as she continued to soothe her rattled girlfriend by lulling her soft voice beside her and gently strroked her hand up and down Yuri’s arm.

“Look at me, Yuri...” Jessica’s voice soothed her. Soon, Yuri turned her gaze to Jessica. The face of Jessica nearly evaporated all of her anger.

Moments of silence passed when the girls didn’t reply for the longest time. Letting Jessica do her role to cool Yuri off.

After a long pause, Yuri raised her head. The girls saw a heart-wrenching look in her eyes, a look where she seems to feel she had lost her friends.

“That’s not the way things are supposed to go... We’re Chosens.  The unwanted role that was shoved in our face… So, why can’t we beat them? We’re meant to do this… We’re meant to- ”

“We’re meant to stand by each other.” Taeyeon looked at Yuri, offering her a smile.

Taeyeon was loyal to Yuri. Taeyeon could fight as her side. Defend what Yuri defended, and fought what she fought. Throughout this journey that they knew each other, she respected Yuri, even proud for the idiot that she could be.

“We can’t give up,” Taeyeon said, with a strong voice. “We’re standing right here… It’s not over yet.”

“Taeyeon… Not you too…” Tiffany frowned faintly.

“You’re all the friends that I’ve always wanted… I swear I’ll save this world… I’ll save all of you.” For the first time, Taeyeon said in the most strong, but vulnerable way.

Her eyes shining with courageousness and determination.  “…Tiffany, we’re moving forward. We have to move forward.”

“Can you beat them?”

Taeyeon’s courageous aura began to shine. “Without a doubt.”

Taeyeon held Tiffany’s hand, “We’ve been setting the stage ever since we got here and it’s only right we do the closing act.”

Taeyeon looked at Yuri and nodded to her.

Reassurance washed over Yuri as her lip curled to her battle partner. “Thanks Taeyeon… Let’s make this an ending they’ll never forget.”

“Lots of headaches and chaos. Our speciality.” Taeyeon grinned playfully, remembering when they first found their magic. “But, Yuri… You do know who you’re up against, right?”

Yuri simply looked at Taeyeon, “The big one.”

Taeyeon shook her head, which Yuri returned with a confused look. “Your enemy is the King.”

“You must not go near the God of Chaos at all costs.” Taeyeon continued seriously, “Because you know what will happen if you do.”

“Uhmm Well… B-But…”

Taeyeon narrowed her gaze.

Yuri sighed and gave in, knowing Taeyeon was right, “Fine, fine. Whatever you say leader.”

The girls watched as their gaze flickered between Taeyeon and Yuri.

“Will you be alright on your own?” Yuri placed her hand on Taeyeon’s shoulder.

“I will. But, I could also ask you the same thing.” Taeyeon nodded forward.

Yuri smirked confidently, “Even if I rend the sky itself, I’ll be fine. In fact, I’ll help you get that last hit in once I’m done.”

“Don’t steal my kills, Yuri. I get the last hit.”

“But, your enemy is bigger than mine.”

“Is this a challenge?” Taeyeon raised her eyebrow.

Yuri and Taeyeon began to chuckle. The whole scene was ridiculous. Here they were, preparing to fight to the death, and they were negotiating on who gets the last hit.

Jessica suddenly glared at Yuri and shuts her up. Everyone felt shivers run up their spine. Jessica’s glare was on a whole different level now.

Taeyeon approached closer to Yuri, giving her a thoughtful look. “Yuri… No one is to die… Including yourself.”

“I could say the same to you…” Yuri smiled at Taeyeon and raised her hand to make a fist. Ready to do their trademark gesture.

Taeyeon matched the smile and raised her arm. Not to make a fist, but to pull her into a hug.

“Meet you at the other side.”

Yuri was caught off guard by the short girl’s action, but hugged back. “See you again, buddy.”

“Ready?”

“As much as you are, Tae.”

Their bromance was short-lived when a voice cut in, “YAAAAAAHH!! You forgot about us, didn’t you?”

The two girls looked at them in confusion.

Taeyeon spoke, “We thought you guys wanted to run away and not fight?”

Yoona scratched her neck nervously, “How could you think that we’d let you spotlight hoggers do this by yourselves… That wouldn’t make us very good friends, now would it?”

“Aish… I don’t want to do this… But, we can’t let you two face this without our awesome help.” Sooyoung crossed her arms, feeling a little guilty.

Hyoyeon groaned and muttered. “Why do we always find ourselves in trouble? Back on planet Earth, here on this planet. What else is new?!”

Taeyeon smiled knowingly, “We knew you guys would come around.”

Taeyeon gave them a lot of courage. Thanks to her, they were able to come this far.

Seohyun gave Taeyeon and Yuri a studying glare, “You two cause too much trouble when you go off on your own.”

Taeyeon chuckled lightly, scratching the back of her head sheepishly, “We’re magnets for danger. What can I say?”

Seohyun shook her head, “That’s why you and Yuri need to stay within sight of one of us.”

“Need not worry, maknae. Everything we do is done in a controlled manner.” Taeyeon smiled.

Taeyeon reached over and grasped Tiffany’s hand with her own. “I’ll resolve this soon, Ppany. Once this whole mess with these Gods, Demons and all is finished, we can finally take it easy.”

“ARE YOU GIRLS GOING TO IGNORE ME?!!? GET OUT OF THERE!” Martel yelled out at them.

Taeyeon and Yuri simply looked at each, before nodding seriously and facing forward.

“You bet.”

………

Jessica simply crossed her arms and looked Yuri straight in the eye.

“Sica…” Yuri noticed her expression was one that she hadn’t seen before. One where Jessica looked completely defeated and torn.

“No amount of unfairness will make me lose… Believe in us, Sica. We’re the strongest after all.” Yuri smiled lightly, continuing to watch Jessica.

In the short time she had met the grown up, Jung Sooyeon Jessica, she can honestly say that there would be no world without Jessica in it. Though, she could easily do without the arguing, but it showed Yuri that that was her way for showing she cared.

Yuri couldn’t help but stare in wonder of the beautiful Jessica in front of her.

“What are you staring at?” Jessica lashed out at Yuri.

Yuri closed the distance between the two and stood directly in front of her, forcing Jessica to tilt her head to look Yuri directly in the eye.

“You are the most beautiful girl I’ve ever known… Can’t I admire my future wife?” Yuri smiled widely, watching Jessica’s face flush bright red.

Jessica looked away from Yuri, her gaze going side-to-side, she sputtered. “O-Of course you can…”

Yuri sn her arm around Jessica’s curves and down her back, she placed her hand firmly on Jessica’s waist and pulled her gently against her. Jessica looked up to Yuri, but quickly looked away with a melancholic expression.

Yuri leaned down and kissed Jessica on the head. “I know you don’t want any more of this… That’s why Tae and I are pushing so hard to put an end to this. And knowing Taeyeon, she’ll try a hundred times more than me to make sure that no one’s going to get hurt.”

Yuri continued with her comforting low, husky voice. “Sica-baby, I know you don’t trust my actions most of the time… But, I can promise you something.”

“What is that?” Jessica said under her breath, her head resting on Yuri’s chest.

“That when we return home… I’ll be the best damn Seobang you’ll ever know.” Yuri couldn’t help but smirk confidently when Jessica met her eyes.

Yuri leaned her head down, placing her forehead against Jessica’s. She felt Jessica relax in this touch as Yuri held Jessica against her.

Jessica whispered so quietly, “Yuri-ah… I’m always worrying for you because I care for you… I love you…”

Lifting a hand, Yuri placed a finger under Jessica’s chin and gently tilted her head up to face her. Jessica opened her alluring doll-like eyes to meet Yuri’s warm, welcoming ones. Jessica saw no fear, no hesitation.

“I love you more.”

Yuri leaned in and placed her lips against hers. Almost immediately, Jessica invaded Yuri’s mouth with her tongue, teasing Yuri.

The kiss was purposely cut short, but sweet, as Jessica broke apart after a moment.

Yuri pouted in frustration. She kept a hand on Jessica’s waist and saw Jessica take hold of her shirt, glaring lightly at her. “Yuri, you’re my Seobang. I understand that you’ll do crazy things to protect me… And you always, always forget that I’m just as strong as you.”

“So… Because you’re always making me feel this way…”

Jessica let go of Yuri’s shirt and dragged her hands down Yuri’s chest and under her shirt. Feeling Yuri’s toned abs, Jessica moaned quietly against Yuri’s ear, as she yanked the hem of Yuri’s pants. That quiet moan just pushed all the right buttons for Yuri.

“I expect an impressive first date, babe.” Jessica bit her lip, panting a little.

Damn.

At this very moment, Yuri wanted to jump on top of Jessica and pin her down on a bed.

There was a small smirk on Yuri’s lips as her arousal level was driving her crazy, “It is the true Seobang’s duty to do everything to make her wife happy.”

Jessica noticed Yuri practically undressing her with her eyes. Yuri stared at Jessica’s perky melons for a while before their gazes met.

Jessica wore a knowing smile, and soon gave Yuri a sultry look. “I’m really, really... Looking forward to what you have planned for me.”

Yuri gave her a wink, and looked to her squad, then back at Jessica. She held Jessica’s soft hand and intertwined it, giving her a comforting squeeze. “Well?”

Jessica exhaled and nodded, returning a look with a faint smile.

Yuri lifted her hand to tuck one side of Jessica’s hair behind her ear and let out a husky chuckle, “Let’s give ‘em hell.”

…..

Taeyeon stood at the front lines, alongside with Yuri who had Jessica and Tiffany beside them, followed closely behind were the rest of the girls.

Taeyeon paused in a daze when she heard a rich voice speaking to her.

“Do you have someone that’s important to you? Someone that you would do anything for?”

“I do…” Taeyeon muttered to herself.

“When a person has someone or something important to protect, that is why people strive to become stronger. You have someone important, you can understand what this means, right?”

“Taeyeon…”

Tiffany started with a worry on her face, which got Taeyeon out of her daze. “I know you’re strong… And have more abilities to use… But, I still worry… So don’t shoulder everything on your own anymore…"

Taeyeon turned her head to regard her lover with looks of hesitation and uncertainty.  “I… I won’t.”

Taeyeon was so used to do everything on her own, that she forget sometimes, there are other people who can stand with her and help her. But, honestly, there were only a few people she could trust to cover her back.

“And… You’ll tell me if something’s bothering you, right?”

“Y-Yeah…” Taeyeon said softly.

A small pout formed on Tiffany, which made Taeyeon look away in guilt. Quickly dismissing her potential probing.

Taeyeon wanted to save everyone, everyone who was doing their best. There was nothing more she wanted than to protect her friends; her friends that were all put in danger.

“Am I… Being selfish?” Taeyeon whispered quietly to herself.

“What’s with the face, Tae?”

Taeyeon smiled and shook her head, before regarding Yuri intently, “Yuri, we might end up having to do things separately… And whatever you plan… You be careful. Things are very dangerous now.”

Taeyeon nodded towards Jessica. “You do have responsibilities now.”

Yuri returned with a nervous smile, “H-Heh, I promise I’ll be careful.  If I don’t… My baby here will give me hell for it. I’d rather the woman of my life not give me grief, so I’ll be careful.”

That got a laugh out of Jessica. Jessica grasped Yuri’s arm and hugged it.

Taeyeon took a deep breath, “If we do come to difficult situations… Just hope… Hope the others are safe;  hope they can fend for themselves. The final battle is now in front of us. We didn’t ask for it, and we were dragged into this world with a mission planted for us. So, now that it’s here, we have no choice but to meet it, head on, with full force.”

The girls looked at each other before taking in an uneasy breath and nodded.

“Right!”

The humungous skull covered with black flesh tissue began touching the very ground. Underneath the GoC’s pitch black eyes had an outlining glow the shone. Its eyes seemingly fixed upon the Gate above him. The GoC hardly paid Magnitus a glance as it stared forward.

The GoC landed on its hands and legs. Then, took its position leaning backwards a little before bellowing a shivering roar to claim the world.

“It’s coming down!!!” Yoona shouted, as the girls stood cowering under the GoC.

Yuri cracked her knuckles, “So this is it.”

“Let’s start this with a bang, shall we?” Taeyeon announced.

Yuri turned her attention to the shorter girl, with a confident, reckless smirk on her face.

“Follow my lead, Yuri.”

The GoC bent its black-fleshy, disproportionate neck and stared at the girls with an emotionless expression. The girls stared back, but this time, their own glaring girls were trembling and gave their façade away.

Yuri and Taeyeon stood side by side, extending their hands together as their magic grew in size in front.

The ground beneath them caved as they could feel their eyes widening lightly at the most riveting magic rush that roared through their bodies. Their distinct magic swirling around them with such intensity as their powers were merging together.

Their friends could feel Taeyeon and Yuri’s magic. It was so powerful, they felt that their magic was probably going to take them out too.

“Huh...?” Jessica squinted her eyes. She swore she saw multiple massive abnormalities that faded in and out that appeared before her. “What was… That?”

Was it a mirage she saw? Just what was it that Jessica saw?

BYUNTAE KKAB SH*T STORM!!!!!!”  Both Taeyeon and Yuri yelled out.

The colourful massive blast of torrential destruction; which had a unity of Four Great Spirits and Dark Flames aimed straight towards the GoC. The grand merged magic was enormous enough that the GoC was taken by surprise.

RRRRAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH! The GoC roared, a devastating hit to its forehead, causing him to knockback.

“UNNIES!!! YOU JUST ANGERED THE GOD!!! SOMEONE START PRAYING!!!” Yoona grabbed her head in distress, ruffling her hair.

The GoC let out another roar and stomped the ground, summoning a massive black magic circle above it. The girls felt the sheer amount of Darkness it contained. The black magic circle vibrated with waves of darkness, ready to counter.

“Yuri,” Taeyeon chuckled nervously before turning to face her. “Good luck.”

Yuri returned with an anxious smirk.

“Kick that enormous a*s, you midget.”

A feral grin appeared upon Taeyeon’s features as she looked up toward the finale above them.

“With pleasure.”

With that, they both leaped into the air and separated as Taeyeon flew forward and Yuri aimed straight towards a smirking Magnitus.
