Chapter 17
Love Matters.Taeyeon was on his way home from work, humming a tune as he bounced along to the music playing in his car. He was overjoyed at the fact that he managed to seal a million-dollar deal with another top company, rendering Yuri's company a good spot in the top 10 of the nation.
" Hello? "
" APPA!!!!!! "
The dork immediately smiled and lowered down the volume of his radio, preferring his daughter's voice anytime.
" Hey, sweetheart. Why did you call Daddy? "
" Because I miss Daddy.. "
Taeyeon shook his head at Hyoyeon's clever answers. The little girl really took after Tiffany in so many different ways and it only made Taeyeon adore her more. All they had to do was wait and see if the other princess would take after Tiffany or Taeyeon.
" What do you want this time, Princess? "
" Hehe..... I want a new dress and nail paint like Mommy.. "
" Baby, you mean nail polish? Why don't you ask Mommy to help you apply some if you really want to? I'm sure Mommy would be glad to help you with it. "
" Mommy doesn't wanna help me.... "
Taeyeon shook his head at Hyoyeon's whining, he could never resist his precious daughter's pleas. Hyoyeon knew how to get the things she wanted and she really put it to good use at times like this.
" Fine, Daddy will help you later. Where's your sister?
" Oh.. Aunt Sunny brought Seo somewhere.... Hyoyeon doesn't know where.. "
" Okay, darling. I'm gonna hang up now, alright? I'll see you later.. "
" Okay. Bye, Daddy! "
Tiffany was listening the whole time Hyoyeon was talking to Taeyeon and she couldn't help but a little angry, she knew Taeyeon wasn't one to be strict or stern with their daughters.
" Kim Hyoyeon. Come here now. " Tiffany walked to the living room with a ruler in her hand, sitting on the sofa with a more than pissed expression plastered on her face.
Hyoyeon pouted, she knew that tone Tiffany was using. She might have been smart enough to know that Tiffany was angry with her but way too innocent to realise what the reason was.
" Yes, Mommy? "
" What exactly were you talking to your Daddy about? "
Hyoyeon was busted and she knew it. She was going to get it from Tiffany again. It hadn't been the first time where Hyoyeon has run to Taeyeon because she knew that her Daddy would get it for her no matter what the circumstances were.
" I... I asked him to buy nail paint... " Hyoyeon mumbled, playing with her fingers behind her back.
" You mean nail polish like the one Mommy always puts on? " Tiffany's right brow cocked up, looking at her princess oddly.
Hyoyeon nodded in a weak manner, she couldn't face her mother right now. Nail polish was something that Tiffany had constantly told her not to apply until she was older and knew how to manage herself.
" Are you testing Mommy? How many times have I told you that you're not allowed to have it? " Tiffany asked in a stern voice.
The little girl shrugged unsurely, she herself had lost count of how many times Tiffany told her the same thing. She was one stubborn kid and it showed in too many ways that Taeyeon had failed to see. Tiffany could feel her blood boil at Hyoyeon's indifference.
" Then why does Daddy buy it for me? Why does Daddy buy everything for me but you don't let me do anything, Mommy? " Hyoyeon questioned, she was dying to know the main reason behind Tiffany's constant restrictions.
PAK!
Tiffany smacked Hyoyeon's leg with the ruler slightly, only wanting to scare her daughter for a bit. It hurt Tiffany's heart so much but she had to teach Hyoyeon the right way of doing things before she went astray when she grew up.
" Wah.................... " Hyoyeon burst into tears at the impact of the ruler, sobbing into her hands. Although she was just a child, she knew Tiffany didn't want to do it because her mother's eyes were teary when she swung the ruler.
The redhead shut her eyes and stood up, pinching the bridge of her nose. She couldn't watch Hyoyeon cry to that extent, she would break down as well.
" Annyeong, Fany-ah, Hyoyeon-ah! "
The mother and daughter turned towards the door, seeing their favourite blonde woman. Jessica looked at Tiffany first and then Hyoyeon.
" What happened here? " Jessica quickly took off her heels and plastic bags full of groceries before running towards her best friend and her daughter.
Tiffany just shook her head and gestured to Hyoyeon, making her way out of the living room before she broke down as well. Jessica nodded, she would check on Hyoyeon before checking on Tiffany.
" Princess, stop crying... You can tell Umma Jessie anything, you know that. " Jessica sat on the sofa and pulled Hyoyeon onto her lap, rubbing the girl's back gently.
Hyoyeon kept quiet, burying her face into Jessica's chest. The blonde woman knew that she wasn't going to get anything out of Hyoyeon right now so she focused on comforting the little girl first.
*
Tiffany was lying on her bed, tear stains on her face. She didn't want to hurt her own daughter. For Christ's sake, Hyoyeon was her flesh and blood. She would rather hurt herself than do it to Hyoyeon but in some cases, things like this were inevitable.
Taeyeon spoiled Hyoyeon and Seohyun so much, she was afraid Hyoyeon wouldn't grow up well. No way in hell would Tiffany allow Hyoyeon to grow up to be a spoilt brat.
" Tiff.... "
" Hey, Jessie.. " Tiffany greeted, she didn't even have to turn around to know who the owner of the voice was. That distinct, slightly higher pitched voice could be recognised anywhere.
Jessica didn't have to look at Tiffany to know that the woman had been crying as well. She knew her best friend all too well, and her actions were nothing but predictable.
" Babe, tell me what happened.. " Jessica lay beside Tiffany on the bed, holding the younger girl's hand.
" Where's Hyoyeon? "
" I put her in her room already, she fell asleep. Now, would you please tell me what happened back there? " Tiffany turned and faced Jessica.
Tiffany told Jessica what went down between mother and daughter, half the time whimpering her way through the conversation. Jessica felt her heart hurt for both Tiffany and Hyoyeon. She was a mother like Tiffany and she knew how bad it felt to have to lay a hand on her own children.
" Hon, she's still young.. I know it's tough to control your emotions but patience is essential when you're trying to teach children, okay? " J
