"Thank you very much Doctor," Sil Lo hummed, giving the man a deep bow.

"No trouble at all; considering that she's refused to leave for as long as she has already, I may as well give her as well as yourself an on sight doctor's call number, just to be safe. Take care now," the man claimed, giving the woman his own small bow before walking off.

Sil Lo nodded and sighed once the man was out of sight and turned her gaze to the door to her side.

It has been four days now since Jia was admitted into Sungae Hospital after being attacked. For every minute of all four days, Miyong hasn't left the boy's side, clutching his sleeve in her hand as if he were to disappear should she let go. Even now, while the girl's head rested on the stiff white mattress her brother lay on, her fingers were clenched around the material. As much as Sil Lo had attempted to convince the idol that hovering over her brother would not make things any better, the girl refused to listen to her, adamant about remaining by his side.

Sil Lo slowly opened the door to Jia's room and walked over to her charge, gently shaking her by the shoulder until the idol stirred in her sleep.

"Miyong-ssi, you need to eat something…" the manager begged. "Please, if you continue to sit here and not care for yourself, you could end up in the bed beside him."

Miyong's eyes didn't stray from the still form of her brother making the older woman sigh.

"I'll see what I can bring up for you…"

Again, there was no reply from the seated woman. Sil Lo walked over to the tray of cold food she had brought up for the idol several hours ago and took it with her, throwing it out in the proper disposal before walking down to the small cafeteria the hospital had in the lobby.

"Ah! Sil Lo-ssi! How are you?" the older woman behind the counter asked with a kind smile.

"She's still not eating, I'm beginning to worry about her…" Sil Lo sighed, her head hanging slightly.

The woman gave the manager a sympathetic smile before stacking a few granola bars, dry cereals and fruit cups onto a nearby tray and offering it to the younger. "Keep trying, even in grief one can't ignore a rumbling tummy for very long."

Sil Lo gave the older woman a grateful nod and took the tray from her. Carefully reading the ingredients, as usual, she handed one of the granola bars back when it stated it contained coconut, before moving to head back up to Jia's room.

"Ah! Noona! Sil Lo-Noona!"

Sil Lo paused and turned around with a raised eyebrow, her confusion deepening when she saw EXO K's main dancer dashing up to her.

"Kai-ssi? What in the world are you doing here?" the woman asked, baffled by his appearance. "Don't you have a schedule today with Lay-ssi?"

"You still keep tabs on us?" Kai asked with a small chuckle.

"It's turned into a habit now; Miyong-ssi is almost always asking where you all are and what you're doing," Silo Lo replied with a small laugh.

"Is… that for her?" the boy asked, nodding towards the tray in the woman's hands.

Sil Lo sighed and nodded. "Provided she eats it this time."

Kai gave her a questioning look making the manager shake her head. She motioned for the boy to follow her, leading him to the elevator.

"Noona…"

Sil Lo turned to look at Kai to see that his head was hung.

"Is… is he alright?" he asked.

"The doctors have told us he's stable, but the damage Jiao-Long took is still quite staggering; the sasangs obviously ganged up on him…"

Kai flinched at the woman's words just as the door to the elevator opened. Sil Lo lead the way down the hall until they got to a room where a male nurse was lurking around the corner of the doorway.

"Hey you, scram," Sil Lo growled.

The man nearly jumped out of his skin at the tone in her voice and instantly dashed away, Sil Lo grumbling under her breath about incompetent staff before pushing the door open further.

"Miyong-ssi, I brought you some food, you should eat… to keep up your strength," Sil Lo claimed, placing the tray of food on the small table by Jia's bedside.

Miyong's form remained frozen, her eyes not even moving away from her brother's face making her manager give a deep sigh of defeat.

"…Noona…?" Kai whimpered, slowly stepping forward. "Noona it's me…"

He placed a hand on the older idol's shoulder, but again, the girl didn't move. Kai squatted down next to her and rubbed her back softly, leaning forward slightly so that he could see her face. The dancer could feel his heart shatter inside his chest when he noticed the distance look in her red eyes, dried up tear trails lining her cheeks.

"She's been like this for days now," Sil Lo reported with a sigh. "I don't know what to do anymore. She won't speak, she won't move, she won't eat, I'm at the end of my rope…"

Kai shimmied forward slightly and raised both of his hands to cup both sides of her jaw. Gently, he turned her head slowly so that, rather than Jia, she was looking at him.

"Noona. You're still in there right? Can you come back now, everyone is starting to worry about you… including me…" Kai whimpered, giving her a heartbroken look.

Miyong didn't so much as blink causing the younger do give a puppy-like whimper. He was about to speak again when a single tear escaped from the corner of Miyong's eye.

"….Jonginnie…"

Kai's face lit up slightly and he nodded.

Like a dam being broken, a new flood of tears escaped Miyong's eyes, the girl clasping her free hand over her face in an attempt to cover them. Kai instantly straightened and pulled the still seated girl into a hug, allowing her to cry into his shoulder while his hands rubbed comforting circles on her back.

Sil Lo smiled slightly and walked out of the room to give the surrogate siblings some space, gently closing the door behind her.

After a few minutes, Miyong's sobs finally died down, Kai pulling back slightly to wipe away any remaining tears with a small smile.

"I'm sorry I took so long to come and visit. The others wanted to come too, but Suho-Hyung convinced them that I'd be better coming alone rather than bombarding you," he hummed.

Miyong couldn't help but smile and let out a small laugh; Guardian Suho once again taking care of her.

"Noona…"

Miyong lifted her head to look at her favourite dongsaeng, Kai giving her an apologetic look.

"Noona… I'm so sorry. We never should have jumped to conclusions like we did. All of the others wanted to come over to apologize… but we didn't want to accidently make it worse so I'm kind of here as a representative," Kai began, biting his bottom lip as his eyes lowered to the ground. "I guess… we've had you all to ourselves for so long… that we're not used to sharing your attention or affections. I guess… the thought that another man had come into your life… without you telling us… it kind of hurt our pride and made us defensive. On behalf of myself and the others, I'm here to apologize." Kai sat down so that he was resting on his calves in front of her, his palms on his knees and his head bowed. "Please forgive us Noona."

Kai raised his head slightly when a hand gently rested on top of it, fingers combing through his locks. Looking up at the older idol, Kai found Miyong giving him a gentle smile.

"I could never stay angry at you Jongin; you're like a little brother to me," she hummed.

"Does that make me a hyung?" he asked with a laugh, his gaze slowly shifting over to look at Jia's slumbering form.

Miyong followed his gaze and slowly nodded. "Yeah… I guess it does."

Kai stood from the floor and pulled over the second chair, sitting beside Miyong and beginning to tell her about what she had missed.

Due to her disappearance for the better half of a week, SM has been attempting to feed the news stations and worried fans that she's alright, just catering to a family matter. The other EXO members naturally missed her and wished for Jia's wellbeing as well as her own. When Kai attempted to make peace with her about Chen however, the girl wouldn't hear it.

"Saying something like that to my face and in front of my brother is something I will not forgive. I always thought that Jongdae was a jokester and a bit blunt, but making abhorrent claims like that is out of the question," she growled, glaring at the wall on the other side of her brother's bed.

Realizing that any argument to the contrary would fall on deaf ears, Kai gave a heavy sigh and placed his chin in his palm while giving her a pout.

"You're like a mother crocodile," he chuckled.

Miyong shifted slightly to give him a raised eyebrow.

"You're alright from a distance and you're very protective of your family, but heaven help anyone who threatens your baby," Kai explained with a snicker. "You'll chase them to the ends of the earth and rip them a new one…"

"You bet your rear I would!" Miyong huffed, raising her nose in the air. "I'd do it for you too you know."

Kai grinned while his cheeks gained a slight pink form embarrassment making Miyong giggle.

Their laughter was interrupted when a low growl sounded through the room. Miyong's cheeks were the ones that turned red this time as Kai laughed, the girl glaring down at her stomach's betrayal.

"Come on Noona, there's a small café not too far away from here, how about I treat you to some real food instead of what they have here," Kai offered, casting a glance at the forgotten food on the tray Sil Lo had brought up.

Miyong's face instantly fell as she casted a glance at her brother. "But… what if he wakes up and I'm not here for him?"

"Then you can ditch me in the café and come dashing back and smother him in kisses," Kai laughed, gently taking her hand. "Noona do you really think your brother would be impressed that you've whittled away to nothing fretting over him while he sleeps?"

Miyong bit her bottom lip in apprehension but nodded, allowing Kai to help her to stand from her chair. She wobbled on her legs for a few moments, not having stood for a long time, before taking Kai's arm when he offered it and allowing him to lead the way to the café.

Once the two were inside the café, the two idols took a table near the back corner to try and avoid prodding eyes. While the two of them looked over the small menu, Kai caught Miyong nervously fiddling with her shirt sleeve.

"Noona relax, you gave his head nurse your number so if there's any change she'll contact you straight away, she said so herself," Kai chuckled.

"I know… I'm still allowed to worry though…" Miyong sighed.

After a few more seconds she placed the menu down on the table and gave another sigh.

"Do you want me to order something for you?" Kai offered, giving her an understanding smile.

Miyong pouted slightly and nodded making him laugh and stand to walk over to the counter. The girl pulled her phone out from her purse and stared at the screen for what seemed like forever. One part of her desperately wanted the hospital to call her, but another part of her dreaded the thought; a call could bode both good and bad news, the later she didn't have the strength for.

"Here you go~♪"

Miyong jumped slightly when a small plate was slid onto the table in front of her, a small blueberry danish and a tea placed on it.

"Thank you Jongin," she hummed quietly, placing her phone down to pick up a packet of milk.

Ignoring the lack of adoring suffix on the end up his name, Kai sat down with his own plate and sipped at his tea.

"So Noona…"

Miyong raised her head to look at the boy, Kai absentmindedly staring out the window.

"When your brother wakes up-"

"Jiao-Long."

Kai turned to look at her with a confused expression making her giggle slightly.

"You keep calling him "your brother", his name is Jiao-Long, or Jia for short," she explained, stirring her tea.

Kai nodded with a small smile. "Well, when Jia wakes up, will you bring him over to visit? I think everyone, including myself owes him a formal apology and I don't think doing a mass one in the hospital is very appropriate."

Miyong gave him a baffled look making him give her another confused one.

"What?"

"You said… when…"

"Well yeah, he's your brother isn't he? Since he's related to you he's probably got your stubbornness and refusal to give up, so he'll wake up," Kai hummed, giving the female idol a teasing smile.

Miyong couldn't help but laugh at his words. "I'll think about it… and ask him when he wakes up."

Kai beamed and reached over to rip off a corner of her danish, popping it into his mouth before Miyong could object, which she didn't.

The next few minutes were filled with a comfortable silence, Kai sipping at his own tea while Miyong finished her danish and drink.

The silence came to an abrupt ending when Miyong's phone suddenly began to ring, her eyes widening and staring at the device for a few moments.

"Noona… are you going to answer it?" Kai asked, giving her a concerned look.

One thousand thoughts began racing through Miyong's brain. What if it was the hospital? What if they were calling to tell her that Jia's condition had worsened? What if he was being put back into ICU? What if he was entering a coma? What if he wasn't going to wake up.

"Noona!" Kai whined, nudging her elbow with his hand.

Miyong's hand acted on its own and quickly grasped the device in her hand and pressed the answer button on the screen. She took a shaky breath before bringing it to her ear.

"H-Hello?"

"Yes hello, is this Miyong-ssi's number?" a female voice asked.

"Y-Yes…"

"Ah Miyong-ssi! This is Nurse Im from Sungae Hospital… you asked me to call you if there were any changes with your brother's condition," the woman explained.

"Yes?" Miyong yelped, fearing the worst.

"Miyong-ssi... your younger brother..."

"Jiao-Long is awake."
