He wasn’t one to smile uncharacteristically out of the blue but Kris supposed the situation called for it. It was Christmas morning and this year’s Christmas was shaping to be one of the best he’d ever had.

Sure, he still felt sore here and there but his teammates went through the effort of making this Christmas at the beach house reminiscent of the one he had growing up and the evidence was all over the place. As they had been requested, Siwon, Donghae, Jonghyun, and Minho had joined them for the holidays; Boa politely declining the offer so she could celebrate Christmas with the kids at the orphanage. It meant that there were fourteen of them instead of the usual ten, which also meant that there were now fourteen stockings hanging over the fireplace – stockings that they themselves decorated the during Christmas Eve; Changmin and Kyuhyun using their position as the heads of the Psychic Research and Investigation Center to secure the responsibility of filling them with gifts. The large Christmas tree sitting at the corner of the spacious living room had been decorated with white balls, ribbons and other décor, another tradition that he had growing up, and the previous night was spent listening to and singing along with Christmas songs, sipping eggnog, baking and decorating Christmas cookies and enjoying a rather western Christmas Eve meal as one big group.

Now that it was Christmas morning, it only meant one thing.  

As the eldest member of the group, Heechul had been unceremoniously dumped beside the Christmas tree, Jessica completing the scene by setting a Santa hat atop his head.

“What are you waiting for? New Year?” She’d chided the grumbling would be Santa Claus. “Hurry up and distribute the gifts already!”

Heechul had rolled his eyes and mimicked the priestess but Kris figured that the Christmas spirit was winning over the older man’s usually snarky self because Heechul had done as he was told, completely with his best imitation of Santa’s voice.

Now that everyone was enjoying showing each other what they’d gotten for Christmas, Kris figured he should get started on the first meal of Christmas day, tidily piling up his own stash of gifts in one corner before making his way to the kitchen, knowing that everyone else on kitchen duty would follow once they were through. But even as he walked from one side of the room to the other, he felt a pair of gazes pinned on his back and Kris knew he would soon find himself interrogated once he was isolated enough from everyone else.

And boy, Changmin and Kyuhyun did not disappoint.

“What is this?” Changmin demanded as he strode into a kitchen a moment or two after Kris did, brandishing his right wrist, which now sported a simple dark purple uni bracelet.

“A bracelet.” Kris answered innocently, the blonde man in the process of taking out waffle and pancake ingredients. “I got all of you the same thing, just in different colors.”

“Oh, quit being a smartass. You know what he means.” Kyuhyun scowled at the taller man; Changmin’s twin likewise sporting a black, blue and white version of the same bracelet. “We felt it as soon as we touched the bracelet, Kris, and judging by the look on Jessica, Heechul and Seohyun’s faces when they touched theirs, they felt it too.”

“Good. That means I did it right.”

“Wu Yi Fan.”

Kris finally turned around to face the twins, an amused expression on his face. “You rarely call me by my real name.” When Changmin and Kyuhyun merely arched an eyebrow each, he let out a sigh. “It’s not anything too drastic, I promise.”
