The moment the challenge was issued, all hell broke loose.

Donghae was the first one to move, informing everyone that he was heading back to the hospital with the still unconscious Yonghwa in tow, both to make sure he fully recuperated from the second possession and his subsequent unceremonious fall to the ground and to be prepared if and when anyone else was rushed to the hospital, pointedly telling everyone to update him regularly. Jessica was next to move, whipping out her phone to make calls back to her house to request for a car to be brought to Gughwa Drive. The team had asked her why and she merely said that if they were going to win the race, they would need a fast car.

Kris let out a low whistle when a white Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 drove past the police barricade at the end of Gughwa Drive, coming to a stop beside the surveillance truck. “Wow.”

Heechul nearly gawked as Jessica approached the car, waiting until the driver had gotten out before she held out a hand for the keys. “You know, you should let us see that other half of that life of yours.”

“Some other time.” She grinned easily, the mirth quickly disappearing when she noticed the rapidly paling Sooyoung standing off to the side, watching the twins bickering about what to do. “Sooyoung?”

“It’s coming.”

It was the only thing Sooyoung managed to say before she lost consciousness, Siwon catching her just in time before she could come crashing down.

Her eyes opened and she saw that she was inside a car, seated on the passenger’s seat. Smoke surrounded the car and she could hear the sound of the tires performing the burnout. Dread swept through her and cold sweat ran down her back. She was in the race again. Looking out her window, she saw Minjun and Nara in their car, their gazes dead set on her, identical pointed, knowing looks on their faces.

Sooyoung understood it immediately. She was the one of those who should race. They wanted her to race.

Swallowing the lump that suddenly formed in , she glanced at the driver’s seat, her eyes widening when she saw no one there. Fear added to the dread yet she could do no more when the car lurched forward and deeper into Gughwa Drive.

“She’s waking up! She’s waking up!”

Siwon slightly loosened his hold on his friend when she began to stir, a sigh of relief escaping the policeman’s lips when her eyes slowly opened. “Are you alright?”

“Yeah… Yeah, I am.” She let him help her stand, smiling reassuringly when she was met with the team’s concerned looks. “Another vision.”

“What happened?” Amber prodded. “What did you see?”

“I’m the once racing.”

“No!” The twins shouted in unison.

Sooyoung arched an incredulous eyebrow. “What do you mean no? It’s what I saw in my vision! Jessica and Heechul can’t race because they need to be on hand should they need to exorcise so it’s me, Amber, Yoona, or Seohyun. The vision just decided for all of us.”

“Sooyoung…” Kris spoke patiently. “Just because it’s what you saw in the vision, it doesn’t mean that it’s what has to happen.”

“It’s a message from Minjun and Nara.” The brunette replied evenly. “They were staring at me in the vision and there was this look on their faces… I know they want me to race.”

“But…” Kyuhyun was about to protest when Changmin placed a hand on his shoulder and shook his head. The shorter one of the twins sighed. “Who was on the driver’s seat?”

A frown crossed her face. “That’s the thing, though… No one was there.”

“No one?” Yoona repeated. “What does that mean?”

“Maybe Minjun and Nara were leaving it up to us. How generous of them.” Heechul snorted, his eyes soon falling on the other men. “We all know I won’t be able to race. So who’s going with Sooyoung?”

Kris held up a hand. “I can.”

“You can’t.” Changmin sent the healer a pointed look above Sooyoung’s head. “Donghae’s back in the hospital so he needs to be ready should happen. Siwon, I don’t think you should race as well. If does happen, you need to be ready to call for emergency. I won’t race because worse comes to worst, I can use my Psychokinesis to try and slow down our car. So that means–”

“That’s settled then.” Kyuhyun cut him off. “Changmin’s racing with Sooyoung.”

“Yeah… I agree wi– what?!” His brother sputtered into silence, staring at his twin with wide eyes. “That isn’t what I was trying to say!”

“I know.” He glared at Changmin. “If you think we’re going to let you use your Psychokinesis to a stop a car in a race, then you’ve gone completely mental, Min.”

“If I don’t try, things might go wrong and Sooyoung and whoever’s racing with her can die!” Changmin protested.

“If you try, you will die.” Kyuhyun hissed. “If it was a person who’s ice skating and about to lose his or her balance, I can understand that but it’s a car, Changmin. A car in a race. You will die if you use your Psychokinesis on that.”

“He’s right, Min.” Seohyun spoke before Changmin could once again protest. “It’s too big of a risk to let you use your Psychokinesis.”

“And don’t even try wondering if you can use your Psychokinesis while driving, Shim Changmin.” Jessica pinned him with a glare. “You can’t drive and use your Psychokinesis at the same time. That’s suicide.”

He let out a shaky sigh. “If I don’t race, then at least there’s a chance we can avoid any accident. I’m not saying it’s inevitable that whoever drives will screw up but…”

“You said it yourself. There is still a chance that nothing will happen and we can beat Minjun and Nara.” Kyuhyun remained adamant. “You are racing with Sooyoung, Min.”

Changmin hung his head in defeat before he let out a sigh, a small, rather wry smile crossing his handsome face. “I am a better driver than you.”

Despite the situation, Kyuhyun snorted. “I’ll let you believe that. Just for today.”
