Third Person POV:

Yoona was up at the crack of down on the day of the trip. She had taken sleeping pills the night before but even they couldn’t give her a good night sleep. She woke up just as terrified as she was the night before. 

Yoona showered quickly and changed into comfortable attire for the bus ride. she sighed as she dried her hair. 

Stupid 5 hour bus ride. 

She left th bathroom when she heard the faint ringing of her cell phone. 

“Kai,” She answered when she saw the caller id. 

“Did I wake you?” He asked. 

“No, I was already up.” She responded getting up and tying her hair in a pony tail. It was almost time to go. Yuri was going to be here any second. 

“Did you pack everything?” She asked him gathering her backpack and checking for last minute things even though she had checked a hundred times before.

“Yes, Angel I packed everything.” Yoona couldn’t help but blush at the childish nickname he used for her. At first she didn’t like it but she grew to love it soon after when it was only him that called him that. 

“You’ll sit with me right?” She asked him hesitantly. From what she knew Kai still wasn’t allowed on the field trip. And it didn’t make her feel any better that he was going against his father’s wishes. 

She couldn’t help but worry. How was he going to make this work? 

“Of course, love. Now stop frowning you’ll create a crease in your forehead.” He chided her. Yoona obediently followed his orders and stopped frowning. 

Yoona heard a honk from her window and she knew that it was Yuri. 

“I have to go, Kai. I’ll see you in a few okay?” She asked him still not confident in the fact that he was going to meet her at the school. 

Yuri honked one more time before Yoona hung up not even waiting to hear Kai’s answer.

The two were removing their bags out of the car to the coach bus when Suho, D.O, Chanyeol and Baekhyun approached the two.

Yoona was quick to notice the absence of her boyfriend and Sehun. Sehun she knew was injured, Kai on the other hand she had a very bad bad feeling of why he wasn’t with the group. 

“Here, I got that.” Baekhyun reached to take Yuri’s bag from her hands but she ignored him and walked right ahead. 

Bakehyun gave her a hard smile before mumbling something to himself. “It’s cool, I know she’s playing hard to get.” He said to no one in particular. 

Yoona followed right behind Yuri putting her suitcase right next to hers but kept her backpack firmly on her shoulders. 

“Yoona will you relax?” Yuri put a hand on her friend’s shakey shoulders. “He’s going to be here any minute, maybe theres traffic.” That calmed Yoona down a bit. Yeah, maybe he’s stuck in traffic. 

The two returned to the boys and began happily chatting it up about the excitement of the trip. D.O was smart enough to distract Yoona for a little bit but as soon as the teacher called for the kids to enter the bus he lost Yoona. 

She was wearing the lost puppy look on her face as she scanned the crowd for her boyfriend. She even turned to look out at the road for the familiar red car but she didn’t see any. 

“Come on, he’ll meet us in there.” D.O ushered her to join the rest of the crowd so they didn’t get the last seats. 

Yoona, too weak to respond to him, wordlessly climbed onto the bus. Once she reached the top step she had to hold D.O for support. The seats were so close together-barely any aisle space. 

She gulped as he helped her make their way to their seats. With difficulty, Yoona stumbled into the window seat and D.O sat next to her. 

Yoona meanwhile noticed how all the seats had begun to fill up and the teacher began to do a head count of who was here. 

“Here…” She mumbled weakly when her name was mentioned. She was the last one on the list. 

Kai’s name was never brought up. 

Yoona realized and began to feel as if the walls of the bus were closing in on her. She sunk deep into her seat as she looked around for an escape but she was immobilized with fear from her past. 

“Breath, Yoona, breath.” D.O instructed her putting a hand on her back to help her when he noticed that she was turning blue from holding her breath. 

“I can’t.” She choked out in a whisper. 

D.O quickly dialed up Kai and almost didn’t have the call go through when Kai answered on the last ring. 

“Where the hell are you?” He exclaimed. 

“My freaking Dad. He’s blocked all the entrances and isn’t letting me in. How’s Yoona?” Kai asked. 

“She’s freaking out, man. What do I do?” D.O asked looking back at Yoona. “Hand the phone to her now.” Kai said immeditaly. D.O was more than happy to place the ear by Yoona’s phone.

“Yoona, it’s me Kai.” He said softly when he heard her ragged breathing. 

“K-kai.” She stutered his name feeling tears well up in her eyes. 

“You don’t know how sorry I am, Yoona. I swore to you I was going to stay with you the whole time and I broke our promise.” He said feeling guilty as hell. 

“I can’t do this,” She choked out clutching the phone tightly when the bus began moving. 

“Yes, you can Yoona. You can’t let something like this phase you, come on.” He cheered pressing the accelerator harder. 

“Kai, I can’t do this without you,” She cried desperately trying to hold on to the seat as much as she could. 

“Alright stop, close your eyes Yoona. Close them.” He instructed to her. “Close your eyes and focus on the sound of my voice.” 

Yoona bit her lip as she listened to him. Well I’ll try. She closed her eyes and blocked out every single noise until all she could hear was her boyfriend’s voice. 

“Now, imagine we’re alone together anywhere you want, just imagine the two of us together.” He continued when he heard her breathing become slightly normal-it was still fast paced but definitely better than before. 

“O-ok.” She said keeping her eyes shut as she imagined she was in a field of flowers lying down next to Kai. 

“Keep listening to the sound of my voice, alright?” He said to her again. 

Yoona nodded to herself as she listened to his voice. It was hard for her to focus on his voice only. The bus was so loud and boisterous. 

Yoona opened her eyes when she felt a tap on her shoulder. It was D.O offering her headphones. She smiled at him graciously before accepting them.

“Kai?” She said his name hesitantly when she was all set up with the headphones. “I’m right here, Cheonsa.” He said lovingly to her. 

“Are your eyes closed?” He asked her. “Yes,” She answered him after she nodded foolishly forgetting that he couldn’t see her. 

She returned to the field of flowers with him. She was lying on the ground with her head in Kai’s lap as he spoke to her. 

“Get crushed three times, even if you cry around the fifth one. If you overcame it five times, you begin to see the end of it.” He recited to her. 

“What?” She responded confused as to why he was speaking in lyrics. Kai let out a deep breath clearly embarrassed of what he was going to do next. 

“Listen to me, Yoona.” He said thankful that she couldn’t see his face. “I’ve never done something like before, but if it’s for you I’ll do it a million times. Just…be patient with me.” 

Yoona shut up and stopped interrupting him. She had no idea what he was going to do but whatever it was-she was anticipating it. 

“If you run impatiently you will only miss important things. Give yourself some time so you can catch your breath.”

Yoona’s face lit up with a smile when she heard his voice. He was singing to her. She clutched D.O’s phone tightly in her hands as she felt herself sinking into Kai’s voice. He sounded absolutely lovely. 

“Always in the same place, like a rising sun.3-6-5 I start my day by waking you up every morning. 3-6-5 every minute every second, without any break, I’ll spend all of these with you” He continued singing getting the hang of it and his voice faltering less and less. 

It was the best remedy he could do for her, and she couldn’t be happier. No one had done anything like this for her and it really touched her heart

“Kai?” She interrupted him yet again making him bite his tongue. Oh, no. She hates it. He turned bright red and bit his lip. 

He remembered when he was little his mother used to sing to him to stop him from crying, he thought it work on Yoona but he only made a fool out of himself.

Or so he thought.

“I love you.”

I honestly was hesitant about this fic because its so different from the usual kai stories that are usually popular but im so thankful to each and every one of you that read this.
