He had went over to her house that day like she had requested and she had told him that she wanted to break the engagement.

“Kazuya, I… I can’t continue this anymore.” she said, her voice trembling.

Heartbroken, he asked her why; was it because he was not good enough for her. “You know that your father will never allow this. He’ll be furious at you, maybe even disown you… So please… please…” he pleaded. Even though he said this, however, he knew his pleading was more for his own sake than hers.

Then, it happened. The next thing he knew, he had a knife multiple times into his abdomen and he fell to the ground in pain. The world around him blurred and all he could hear was her sobs. Suddenly he was lifted up by someone and being carried away somewhere. He wanted to resist but the pain he was in made it impossible.

After a while, whoever who had been carrying him dumped him in the woods near the house, leaving him bleeding on the forest floor. At that point, he had given up all hope already but he could not help but wonder why this had to happen to him. Their engagement was arranged; a mere merging of two big companies, but over time he had learnt to love her so why couldn’t she? Lost in his thoughts, his eyelids were getting heavier and he knew he did not have much time left.
