Luhan stirred in his sleep, trying to find Yoona but opening one eye, sleepily, he found himself alone in the bed.

*Where is she?*

He rubbed his right eye and raised up to lean on the headboard. Scanning the room, he had to blink more than once to finally make out his girlfriend’s slim figure.

“Yoon,” Luhan broke the silence. Yoona jumped a little and faced him, with her hand on her chest and eyes widen, “Why are you not in bed?” Luhan asked.

Yoona looked left and right, biting her lower lip, “I can’t sleep,” she answered briefly.

“Because…”

Yoona sighed, but replied: “Just because.”

Luhan got up and when over to the minibar. “If you were feeling uncomfortable, why didn’t you wake me up?” Luhan asked back; as he bent down to get a bottle of water from the mini fridge.

“I didn’t think it was necessary,” Yoona answered, “Why were you up in the middle of the night?”

“Cause I can feel that you weren’t beside me,” Luhan smiled stretched to his eyes, showing his crescent-shaped eyes, which made Yoona chuckled but quickly died down.

“Is something bothering you?” Luhan asked, kneeling down to the coffee table and set the glass to the table and pour the water into it.

“I still feel like, something’s missing,” Yoona shrugged. She drew her knees up to her chest and rested her chin, “Like I was supposed to do something, not that I don’t appreciate what you did, but-” Yoona grunted.

“I think I know why,” Luhan sat down next to her, also, had his knees close to his chest, angling his head to face her, “The past you wanted to see her, your mom. That was your aim, right?” Luhan asked.

Yoona nodded, didn’t quite know where he was going.

“So?”

“So, a part of you, still want to see her, talk to her and maybe feel her presence,” Luhan explained, her hair, “Right?”

Yoona sighed, closing her eyes in frustration, “Yes, but that’s impossible. She died years ago.” Yoona hissed, but her eyes soften and lips dropped.

“But, I’ve always wanted to talk to her,” she sobbed, leaning her head to Luhan’s shoulder.

“Then, why don’t we visit her?” Luhan suggested.

“Huh?” Yoona raised her head with her brows furrowed.

“Yeonhee texted me where your mom was buried, let’s visit her, later this afternoon, what do you think?” Luhan waited for Yoona’s response, expecting to see her shaking her head but instead she nodded eagerly, smiling widely too.

“Can we get her some pretty flowers too?” Yoona asked.

Luhan just chuckled but nodded, “Of course, I gotta make a good impression, I am your boyfriend, the last thing I want was for your mom to curse me,”

Yoona shook her head, “She won’t do that. Cause you are the sweetest boyfriend ever,” Yoona hugged him from the side after kissing his cheeks.

Yoona could feel her heart pound against her chest. She wasn’t quite sure why was she feeling nervous. For years she had been waiting to meet her mom –but never did she had ever thought of her mom to be umm –dead.

May she rest in peace.

“I got it!” Luhan cheered, showing off the bouquet of flowers in his hands. Waving them around proudly, “Do you like it?” Luhan asked.

Yoona nodded, “They're white, which represents purity. That’s how I imagine her heart would be,” she faintly smiled.

“Look, Luhan. I can go alone. We’re in Paris, why don’t you go around and enjoy yourself.” Yoona suggested, running her fingers to the flower petals, although chrysanthemums means death and grief; the flowers shows gentleness to her, mainly because of the color. She took the bouquet from her boyfriend’s hold and held it in her hands.

Luhan, who had his hands on his hips, furrowed his brows, “What’s the point when my own girlfriend is going to visit her mom’s grave for the first time and I’m enjoying myself in the city of love. I rather go with you and spend my time with you,”

Yoona opened to speak but Luhan beat her to it.

“Besides, I promised you that I’ll be there for you. It’s not some empty promise, y’know.”

Yoona was touched, she felt blessed to have him, his support and his love. His angelic characteristic was out of this world, she would never have thought that he, a person like him, would exist.

She rushed to his embrace, and buried her head into his neck, “I’m so grateful to have you,” Yoona murmured.

Luhan wrapped his arms around her and kissed her forehead, “C’mon, let’s not keep your mom waiting.” Luhan gave her an encouraging smile.

Walking hand in hand to the cemetery, seeing the entrance of the cemetery, Yoona suddenly stopped her steps, inhaled and exhaled. Tighten her grip onto Luhan’s hand, which made him to react and look over to her. “Are you okay?”

“Yea,” Yoona answered faintly, smiling. A small smile to tell him that she was fine although Luhan was not hundred percent convinced, but nodded anyway.

They walked and walked, with Luhan leading the way. He tried to recall back what Yeonhee told him.

A big tree, there’s a grave under the shades of a big tree. That’s her grave.

Oh there-

“Yoon,” Luhan called out to her, holding her hand and led her to the grave which had “Here lies Im Yoojin.  May her pure soul rest in peace,”

Yoona sank to her knees and placed near the headstone, “Hey umma. I’m your youngest daughter Yoona.” Yoona bowed her head slightly and at the end of her introduction, she bit her lip.

An action of nervousness?

Luhan touched her shoulder as a sign of encouragement.

Yoona breathes, running her fingers to the headstone, “We never spoken to each other, never once looked at each other –we had but not the one where I could remember. I never got to say that even though I don’t know you personally, I –I love you, mom.”

Yoona could feel the tears in her eyes slid down to her cheek, “Seeing other girls at school have their mom to pick them up after school. I felt jealous but not entirely lonely because although I was sad that you weren’t there, I could feel you in my heart where you will always live.”

Yoona reached out for Luhan, and he sank down next to her, “This man here is Xi Luhan. I know that you’ve sent him to me and I thank you. Without him, I would feel so lonely right now. He helped me a lot. He was the angel that you’ve sent to me to take care of me, and mom, he has done a very good job.” Yoona wrapped her hand with his.

Luhan shifted his gaze from Yoona to the headstone, “Hello Mrs. Im, I’m Xi Luhan. And I would like to say thank you for giving birth to this girl –amazing girl next to me. She had taught me a lot and changed me into something better in return I give her my love and I promise to take care of her till my last breath and forevermore, with your blessings from heaven, of course.”

Luhan turned to Yoona who still had tears running down her face.

She mouthed, “Thank you,” and that was when he knew that what he had said, touched her heart.

Luhan flashed a grin before standing up, “Anything else you want to say to her, before we go?”

“Not really, except. Mom, I love you. I hope you have found your place of happiness somewhere.”

Yoona raised up and walk back with Luhan, the man who made her stronger.
