“Your sire, all is ready and with your order we will set forward” a soldier knelt in front of the wolf king, Lucian, looked afar to his army of millions waiting for his orders. A smirk tainted his calm countenance, feeling the power that he held in his palm increasing extremely or so as he likes to think.

Each one stood strong in an armored suit, silver and black with spikes belted across their chest and in all places that it would bring advantage to. 

Wolves stood beside one another, either in their true form or human-like bodies. They all knew what was coming, what was going to happen to them and their pack the moment they stepped out of the gate that separated them from the entire world. There was no denying that they were not all ready for the war, some too young to even know what war is and some best be staying home with their family but they did not have any words to say to their king or it was the end of them there.

It was twilight; the sun just below the horizon at it set to welcome the night and just as how dark the sky was so was everyone’s knowledge of the cause of the war. Being told that in just few days they would need to go to war against their mortal enemies, the vampires, isn’t particularly the best way to welcome the month of July. No one was spared, all men and most women were by law – rashly made to fit the situation, needed to join the army without any complaints. Truly a heartless law and ridiculous thinking.

One wolf held out his hand towards one smaller than him, quivering at the sight of the gate that in any time will be opened. “It’s all going to be fine, I promise” the older said, holding his brother’s hand tightly in the embrace of his.

“All of you prepare yourself, at any moment now we will set off” one of the soldiers spoke loudly, bringing everyone into their feet and letting them be aware of their positions.

A line-up of wolves walked through the crowd with the flag that held the emblem of their pack sawn on the piece of blue fabric. Golden leaves strolled the frame of the flag, the half crescent moon displayed on the middle of it in silver as if to say that the mythical method of killing their kind was only fable.

“I am much honored to have been given the opportunity to lead such powerful, knowledgeable, unwavering and strong wolves. I assure you that after tomorrow night we will hold power over all the lands of this earth, we will be crowned the strongest and gain all that we want” Lucian proclaimed over the many wolves that stood below him.

Some rejoiced and some did not say anything, their faces painted fear and the absence of hope. They truly did not understand the reason to break a truce when everything has been going very well, both for their kind and the vampires.

Why would anyone disturb the peace that brought back life to both kinds? Why is there a need for blood to be shed? Why does it need to be them? There were many questions that were wanted to be asked but none of them seemed to have any answers.
