“This is preposterous” the King had his fingers tapping rhythmically on his forehead, easing the pain of his head ache as he tries to think through what he’s going to do about the situation at hand.

Generals, the councils, the guards and even his son along with Nicholas, all of them stood in a line, facing the king and waiting for any words or orders to be given to them. They did not speak and only kept their sight towards the king, not wanting for his anger to be redirected to them.

“How were they able to leave just like that? Where were all of you” he turned to them now, eyes burning whole in their heads as he glared at all of his men, waiting for an answer.

Knight on the side, kept his thoughts to himself. All of them had the same thoughts but did not say anything. The situation at hand wasn’t entirely their fault and partially the king’s too, it might be true that the general responsible for the security of him and the whole kingdom did not do his job but at the same time it’s the king’s words that count the most at times, especially when it had to do with his little project in the basement of the castle.

“Why is nobody answering me?” he yelled at the silence coming from all of the wolves present in the meeting. They all jumped a bit in surprise hearing the bang the books and everything from the table made when it hit the floor.

“If you were had noticed the ring being taken from you there wouldn’t be any problem” Knight side-noted in his mind but it accidentally voiced it out, Lucian clearly heard what his son said and was more enraged.

He growled at his son, his hand shaking from anger and the next thing he did surprised all of them especially Nicholas. “When you have something to say, say it out loud” he hissed after the scratch he gave to his son in the cheeks. 3 marks went across from his cheekbones all the way to the side of his lips, blood streaming from each.

“Yes father” he answered respectfully, his voice trembling with his anger being suppressed inside of him.

Lucian stepped back to his throne, sitting down and thinking a way to fix things. “May I speak my thoughts your highness” one general stepped forward, bowing in a 90 degree angle waiting for the permission to continue “Go ahead Charles” he said in a sigh.

“Instead of letting all the wolves after the vampires, I think that at this time we should be focus on continuing our operation with the hybrid wolves and let some of our strongest after them. I would be honoured to lead the party if you let me your highness” he spoke with much confidence and sophistication in his words.

All of them, except for the king, rolled their eyes seeing clearly what he’s trying to do and that is up to the majesty. He was known for that but Charles did not care at all, he thinks he’s doing what he thinks would keep him longer under the royal family and those thoughts haven’t let him down yet. He sees himself as Knight’s rival and it is the case.

“Hmmm…” Lucian whispered, thinking about the only suggestion given to him. “Since there’s no other suggestion given then that’s what we’re going to do. Charles you’ll lead the party and I expect nothing but success in this while you’re away Knight and Nicholas would be taking over the hybrids. Now leave” he ordered and they all went out the room with nothing in their face with only one who has a smile painted on their face.

“Seems like that hurt” Charles teased as he walked along the other two. Knight growled and was ready to attack the general but with Nicholas holding him back he had calmed down and tried to leave without any scene. “One day Charles, one day my hand would be up your throat crashing it until I can’t hear a single word from your mouth” he hissed while being pulled away while the other only grinned at him. “Let’s
