Wonshik felt his heart break when he came back home to see you crying. Infrequent messages, clashing schedules and work had gotten in the way of your communication with him leaving him a little out of the loop with your current state. Plus you didn’t want to burden him with your troubles, you believed he had enough of his own. Things had been tough at school and with all your efforts, your grades simply weren’t up to the mark you had set for yourself. Your friends had also been acting strange and weren’t entirely sure why. With all this confusion and anger with yourself, the only reaction you could produce to Wonshik’s worry was more tears.
“Baby, you need to tell me what’s wrong.” he whispered, pulling you into his arms and rocking you back and forth as sobs racked through your body. You shook your head but leaned against his chest as the two of you sat on the carpeted floor of your home. This was a minor problem and you really didn’t want to trouble him with it but you weren’t sure if you could hold it in any longer.
With his soothing coos of affection and reassurance, you let it out. Every thought that had been plaguing your mind you let out and Wonshik listened patiently, running a soothing hand down your back. You sniffled and buried your head in your shoulder.
“I must look like a fool for crying over something like this.”
“It’s okay to cry…” he sighed, kissing your temple “whatever it is that is bothering you, you need to let all of it out and it’s only then that you can move forward. Nothing is foolish if it hurts you okay? Problems are problems okay? There is nothing minor or major about it. If it hurts you and makes you sad in anyway, I will be concerned and you need to know that. You’re a very important part of my life and it makes me sad that you thought this wasn’t important enough for you to tell me. Baby, things get tough and it’s okay for you to tell me, I care for you.”
You felt a fresh batch of tears leak down the contours of your face as you clung to the man. How you loved him in all his awkwardness and wisdom. He always knew the right thing to say to you. But this was a problem you didn’t know how to solve. Yes, the weight on your chest had lifted the moment you just let out all the pent up emotion. But it was almost like Wonshik could read your mind.
“You’re strong, baby. You have to be. You’ll get through this and come out stronger. But you’ve got to let go of somethings. You can’t keep faulting yourself when you’re putting in an effort alright? I understand the need to get things right, but it can’t be at the price of your happiness. As for your friends, you need to talk to them instead of bottling it up. You know I’m here for you regardless of anything and if you need me to help you in anyway, you know I would.” you felt another kiss on your temple as you snuggled closer to him. You were so thankful for having Wonshik in your life. He was there for you in moments of elation, but most importantly he was there for you in moments of utter distress and confusion.
Maybe that’s why you loved him so much.
