“Hello?”

“Taeyeon!”

“Soo? What’s up?”

“Tae, big trouble!”

“What?”

“The company has decided to put you together with another artist…”

“Huh?!”

“The news just got to me this morning and I haven’t had any sleep yet…”

“So, they mean to turn KTY into a duo unit? Does this mean that they’ll turn my solo act into a duet?!”

“Sadly yes, Tae. You will be half a duet act from now on but there’s a catch…”

“What’s the catch, Soo?”

“Your partner will be a new addition to the industry. The company hopes to find your partner in the Jung Empire mall audition which you’ll also be endorsing…”

“Oh God…” Taeyeon scrunches up his face into a frown and runs a hand through his hair as his eyes remain on the road. His grip on the steering wheel tightens and his teeth clenches. Things are turning for the worse from now on. His career as a solo artist is in jeopardy because the company has decided to put another burden on his back.

“Tae… You have a co-manager now. She’s going to work with me and your new partner once the auditions are done…” Sooyoung from the other line said.

“Who is she?”

“Lee Sunny… She’s none other than Lee Sooman’s niece…”

Taeyeon’s jaws dropped. His eyes widened in surprise. ‘Oh no! I didn’t know she’d come back here… I thought we’d have a long distance relationship and that’s it… I barely even communicate with her nowadays…’

“Tae? You still there?”

“I-I’m s-still h-here…”

“You seem to be overwhelmed… I know I am when I first heard it from Sunny herself…”

“Uh…Soo… I think I’m in deep trouble…”

“You are?”

“Yes… Don’t tell anyone or even Sunny… but I want to let you-“

“You know Sunny?”

“Yes, I do… In fact… She’s one of my girlfriends…”

“What?! But…”

“We have a long distance relationship after we met in Japan on one of her vacations there…”

“But… I thought… You’re currently engaged to Jessica… And Tae… you dared to hit on our boss’ niece?!”

“We’re engaged but people don’t know that we are… So, she retained her boyfriends and I retained my girlfriends… It remains that way until our parents formally announce our engagement…”

“You know what… You are really on boiling water now, Tae…”

“Soo, I’m heading to the Jung Empire building… I have an important business family meeting…”

“Taeng… I’m included in that meeting…In fact, I’m already seated with Kwon Yuri, Ms. Im, and Atty. Seo. Your fathers are here together with Tae Hee-noona. Actually, you, Ms. Jung, and Dr. Hwang are the only ones lacking from the roster…” Taeyeon could hear a few papers being turned from Sooyoung’s side of the line. It seems that Sooyoung was making the call from the board meeting room.

Taeyeon’s eyes widened for the second time. “Oh dear… I need to hurry then… Jessica and Tiffany are right behind me…”

“Hurry, Taeng…” Sooyoung said before he cut the line.

“So, how was your time with him, Jessi?” Tiffany eyed her cousin who was on the wheel.

A shrug came as a response. “He’s fine… but he’s different…”

“How different?”

“He doesn’t act like a player at all. He’s all caring and gentle…”

“Oh…”

“Why are you so interested, Tiff?”

Tiffany was caught off guard. She knew Jessica likes to talk offhandedly like that but somehow, it still affected her. “Er… I don’t know… I just wanted to know whether my cousin is in good hands or not…”

Jessica frowned at her response. Tiffany saw her expression and was preparing herself for some emotional and mental beating coming from her blonde cousin.

“Tiff… I don’t want to get married yet. I’m not cut off for settling down and having a family yet. I haven’t found someone worthwhile…” Jessica said as their car took a turn towards the block where the Jung building was located.

“So, what are you going to do about it, Jessi?” Somehow, Tiffany had her hopes up. It meant she had a chance to make her move on her cousin.

“I’m thinking about it as of now… I can’t come up with a concrete plan yet but I’ll definitely have something by the end of the day… Besides, I still wanted to be with you…” Jessica’s last few words sent tingling sensations down Tiffany’s spine.

‘Oh my gawd, you’re making me all giddy inside, Jessi…’ The brunette thought.

“Jessi… Do you really mean what you say?” Tiffany asked as they pulled over at the underground parking lot.

Jessica turned to her and flashed her genuine smile which only a few people had manage to behold. “Of course I do…”

Tiffany returned her sincere smile with her own signature eye crescents. “Then prove it.”

“How?”

“By kissing me like how you kissed me when we fell into the pool years ago?” Tiffany retorted in a joking manner. 

Without a word, Jessica leaned forward to capture her own cousin’s lips much to Tiffany’s surprise. The brunette didn’t expect her wish to be granted by none other than Jessica, her one true love as she had thought. And she didn’t expect her joke to be taken so seriously. 

‘Omo, this can’t be happening but it is.’ Tiffany thought as she responded to her cousin’s hot kiss; her tongue across her cousin’s lips while Jessica cupped her face to deepen the kiss. 

It was a little more aggressive but Tiffany found it y and sweet. Jessica’s strawberry lip gloss tasted like heaven and Tiffany loved their passionate moment inside her own luxury car.

When they parted, both girls were panting. A smile came onto the blonde’s lips upon seeing Tiffany’s contented face. “You liked it, don’t you?” Jessica teased.

A tinge of pink had spread across Tiffany’s face upon her cousin’s remark. “Come on… We’re probably late for the meeting.” Tiffany muttered as she stepped out of the car to which Jessica had followed suit.

They both came upon the elevator where they saw Taeyeon standing, his back turned to them.

“Oppa.” Tiffany called out in her bubbly voice making Taeyeon turn to face them.

“Oh, there you are. Come on.” He smiled as he pressed for the lift to open. “My manager called and he said everyone’s already waiting for us.”

“Eh? We’re the last ones to arrive? And why is your manager in the meeting?” Tiffany said in surprise.

“He is one of the shareholders of my family’s company so he is needed in the meeting. And yes, we’re the only ones that everyone has been waiting for.”

“Then, let’s stop chatting here and head there…” Jessica commanded, her tone sounded quite impatient and authoritative. She had all the rights though since she practically runs this building.

This made the Taeyeon and Tiffany quiet down as the blonde pressed the elevator button.

Taeyeon ushered the two young ladies into the elevator first before he led himself to stand beside his fiancée who didn’t seem to mind him. He didn’t notice the glare Tiffany was sending him from where he stood. The ride was quiet and soon enough, they found themselves onto the floor where the meeting will be held. Jessica and Tiffany casually linked arms and entered the already filled board room where they were welcomed by the sights of men and women in business attire.

Yoona, Yuri, Seohyun, and Sooyoung were already in their seats amongst the people at the table with Yoona settled between Seohyun and Yuri. Sooyoung beside Yuri. Tae Hee sat with a business man three unoccupied seats away from Sooyoung. At the head of the table, Mr. Kim and Mr. Jung sat chatting amongst themselves while the other shareholders went about their usual exchanges over a cup of coffee that both Yoona and Seohyun had laid out a few moments prior to their arrival.

Seohyun noticed the arrival of the last members to the meeting and she stood up to inform the two parents of the arrival of their adult kids.
