Before I Even Had You
His Vow vs. His LoyaltyMike sat still, he made his decision while Niddie was gone. He was going to erase the feelings he has for her. He had to, he couldn't bear to lose her to Kon...but at least she'd be alive. He was going to give up these feelings for Niddie, for both of their sakes. She'll learn to love Kon, he isn't that bad of a guy. Just a spoiled little brat...if anything Niddie can change him. A knock came at Mike's door.
"Yeah?" Mike grunted.
"Yo!" Dragon stuck his head through the door.
Mike gave him a confused looked, "What the hell are you still doing here?" Mike asked.
"Oh...you know, your boss gave me a job here. It's awesome!"
"But what about the other place?!"
"Eh...they don't need me. I doubt they're even looking for me...So, what's really going on?" Dragon asked seriously.
Mike gave him a weird look, he didn't trust Dragon...yet. Cool kid and all but things weren't adding up.
Dragon rolled his eyes..."Geez fine." Dragon started to unbuckle his belt.
"What the are you doing?" Mike asked fiercely.
"Proving it to you!" Dragon said pulling up his shirt.
"PROVING WHAT?!" Mike yelled.
"THIS!" Dragon lifted his shirt and turned his back towards Mike, On his left shoulder blade was the tattoo that all of the bodyguards had received when they pledged their loyalty to the family. It was the family's crest, An elephant head with the leader's name across the top, in this case Kon's. When you pledged...you pledged for life. Your pledge was like the tattoo, permenant. You could not falter and you never turned your back on the one you vowed your loyalty too. Mike's hand instantly went and touched his own tattoo. He had forgotten about it. The tattoo proved to him that he had to forget Niddie, he had to let go of his feelings for her. His life belonged to Kon and only Kon. He will die for Kon to protect him, end of story.
"So I was briefed that you were only on assignment at the other place...everything makes sense now. The whole mission was to get you the disk." Dragon thought outloud.
"Ok well if you knew that then why are you asking me?" Mike said. He was too cranky to be nice right now.
"It's not that...what's with the Lady of the house? Is she the one you're talking too? Is the guy who is head of the house her brother?" Dragon asked.
Mike sighed, "I'm not talking to her anymore...and that's not her brother..."
"Then who is he?"
"The one she's suppose to marry."
"Oh....OOOH! MIKE WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU THINKING?!" Dragon freaked out.
"Nothing. I'm calling it off with her. We just started talking, it's not like anything major has happened between us. It can be done."
"Yeah but love is love. No matter how tough or strong you are, you can't deny love."
"What are you a bodyguard or a poet?"
"Neither. I'm actually head of the monitoring side. Pretty much the security guard for the house. I found my place!! You guys are so much cooler than the other place. So how are you feeling? I heard she stayed up with you all night...then you know...Boss man came and took her to his room."
"Quite the gossiper aren't you? I'm fine. I'll be back at work tomorrow. To make sure you don't screw up." Mike grinned.
"PFFT! AS IF!"
Mike rolled his eyes at Dragon and they chatted until Dragon had to leave and go do some of his monitoring rounds in the camera room.
-------
The next day Mike got up and got ready to get back to work. It still hurt to stretch, he couldn't wait to get the stitches out, only a couple more days left. He showered and threw on his regular all black suit. It felt comfortable to be back in it again. He went to the monitoring station and saw Dragon now decked out in the same suit as Mike. "So I guess it's official now eh?"
"You betcha!" Dragon said smugly, "I think I wear this better than you."
"See you for lunch." Mike just said and left to go find Kon and report to him. He knocked on Kon's door and heard Kon tell him to go in.
Kon looked up from his desk and grinned, "Glad to see my number one guy back up on his feet."
"Feels good to be walking again. I forgot how bad it felt to get shot."
"Well normally most people go to the hospital...not go 2 hours to get here."
"I was on a mission I couldn't fail."
"Did you get the disk?" Kon asked. Mike nodded and pulled it from his jacket pocket and placed it on Kon's desk. Kon picked up the disk and looked at it, "Who knew one little disk like this could hold so much information about someone...not only that but bring a whole generation down to their knees. And make a woman mine forev
