Ten years later…

“Are you here already?”

“I’m reaching soon… There was traffic earlier… Sorry P’Tia…”

“Doesn’t matter… As long as you’re here… That’s all that matters…”

Wanfahmai quickly got out of the cab and proceeded to the ballroom where the wedding was held. She donned on a strapless blue ombre satin dress with a flared skirt that accentuates her small waist and a pair of black stilettos, along with a few accessories. She was hastening her pace until she got to the doors where the usher requested for her to show the invitation card. She took the card out from her black clutch purse and the usher was about to show her to her seat when she said,

“Oh, it’s okay… I can handle it from here… Thank you very much.”

She took her seat quietly as she called out Ms Daniya and Ms Mint who were seated at the table.

“P’Tia~ Ms Mint~” she whispered.

Ms Daniya was about to scream when Wanfahmai hushed her, “I know you miss me… But please… We don’t want any attention…”

Ms Daniya took deep breaths to calm herself down before she uttered as softly as possible, “WE miss you sooooooo much, Ice!”

“I miss all of you too…”

“You miss us but you never once came back? Huh?”

“I got busy… With work and all… But now I’m back, right?”

“Back for good?”

“I can’t promise that…” teased Wanfahmai.

“What?!”

“But… I am thinking of staying here for an extended period of time…. Because I got a job here…”

“That’s great news!” as Ms Mint chimed in.

“We thought you won’t be able to make it…”

“How can I miss my kroo’s wedding?! Never in a million years…”

“You better stay here until I get married…”

“P’Tia… Are you seeing someone?”

“I’m just saying… Don’t take it literally…”

“Okay okay, but whatever it is, I will definitely attend your wedding, P’Tia… Don’t worry about that… Oh, by the way P’Tia…”

“Yeah? What is it, Ice?”

“Where’s uncle and auntie?”

“My parents are sitting upfront there… I know I’ll not be able to survive sitting at the same table with them at my brother’s wedding because the questions that would come pouring would be unbearable… Just the thought of it is killing me inside…”

Wanfahmai let out a chuckle, “Okay… I understand P’Tia… Then I’m just going to say a quick hello to Uncle and Auntie…”

“Okay, sure… Just remember, no matter how much they persuade you, do not… I repeat… Do not sit at the same table… They might just find you a fiancé by the end of this wedding.”

Wanfahmai smiled at Ms Daniya’s comment before she walked towards the table where the elders were seated. When she called out for the couple, Mr Danurut’s mother turned around and was pleasantly surprised,

“Oh, my goodness’… How have you been my dear child?” as she held onto Wanfahmai’s hands.

“I’ve been doing well, khun pa…”

“It’s been a long time since I saw you in person… And you’ve grown into such a beautiful young lady…”

“Thank you, khun pa… And oh, I just wanted to say hello and also to congratulate the both of you on your son’s wedding…”

“I’m sure Rut will be so happy to know that you’re here…,” said the father.

“I’ll go back to my seat first, khun lung~ khun pa~”

“Sure… Sure… See you later, my dear…”

As Wanfahmai was focused on greeting the parents of the groom, she did not notice the family that was seated beside the table.

“Isn’t that….?”

“What is she doing here?”

“Why is she back suddenly?”

“How can she be so shameless?”

“I can’t believe kroo is still in contact with her…”

Despite all the dissatisfaction expressed at that particular table, there was one person among them that remained silent and was stupefied by the sudden appearance of Wanfahmai at the event. The wedding went well underway and Wanfahmai was feeling elated as she witnessed two of her few favourite people in the whole world joining hands in a blissful matrimony. They were mid through dinner when Wanfahmai excused herself,

“Where are you going, Ice?”

“I just want to get some fresh air…”

“You’re not going to disappear on us, do you?”

“Of course, not, P’Tia… I can’t run fast in stilettos…”

“With you… I’ve learned to never say never…” Ms Daniya’s comment caused both Ms Mint and Wanfahmai to let out a laugh before Wanfahmai retort, “Then should I leave my shoes here?”

“No no no… Then you can run even faster… Just come back quick, alright?”

“Okay sure, P’Tia…” before she took a look at Ms Mint and said, “Ms Mint, I think P’Tia need some TLC right now… The wedding seems to
