“Remind me why I’m getting myself wet for you again?” Myungsoo asked as he carried a pail full of water towards the many cars with a lot of energy. The water was swishing out of the pail and onto his toms.

“Because, you said you’ll help me earn enough money to get a new laptop!” you reminded him with a little hurt in your voice. “And it’s not my fault that your toms are getting wet. Obviously people wear slippers and shorts to a car wash, not dress pants and covered shoes…. Oh! Hold on!” You ran back into your house and went to search for your older brother’s slippers and shorts. He’s in the States for studies; not like he’s going to know. “Here, change into these,” you said, passing the shorts to him. “AND TAKE OFF THE RIDICULOUS JACKET! IT’S SUMMER, YOU TWIT!”

Listening to the radio, you put the sponge into the pail of foam and whacked the foam onto the car. You were thinking about the money you could raise from this carwash service, when you heard Myungsoo calling out from your house: “Starting without me?!” With a smile, you turned around. But the smile left when you saw what your best friend was wearing: a white wife-beater with your brother’s shorts. Your neck started getting hot when you realized that you thought he was hot. He walked down the front porch and towards you, “Something wrong?”

“Y-yah. Why are you in a wife-beater? Cover up; I told you to get comfortable, not ,” you said trying not to look at him. He looked at his top. “You told me to take off the jacket so I did. I know summer’s here, you know. Were you expecting long sleeves under my jacket?” Not wanting to answer, you threw him the other sponge as a signal to start working.

Moving on to the second car, two of you were working on different sides of the car quietly. “It was best to stay quiet in case the heat makes us crazy,” you had said. But you regretted what you said; you were feeling bored because of the lack of interaction. He might be quiet, but he always made you happy.
