Autumn was finally here,

Yet it was colder than it used to be.

This time, hearts were burned quickly

But love kept them from turning into ash.

“Oppa?”

“Huh?”

They were sitting in the bench with her head in his left shoulder while his left arm kept her closed to his body.

“It is only my imagination that the same birds are keep coming back here? Aren’t their lives are shorter than us?”

Joohyun pointed her index finger to the assemblages of birds that were flying north in a specific formation.  Yet instead of following her gaze, he turned his face to his left and observed the girl intently.

“Maybe you’re not completely wrong. Someone told me that birds were transferring their memories to their chicks.”

“So you mean these birds are children or grandchildren of the birds we saw last year?”

“Could be. I guess that is what resilience means. The memories increase the level of survivors among the birds. Make them stronger and tougher.”

Joohyun closed her eyes. If only my inheritance would do the same and not the opposite.

“Baby?”

“Huh?”

Kyuhyun nudged her head softly with his shoulder so she pulled up her head from his shoulder. He maneuvered both of their body so her head was lying in his head instead and his arms were around her waist.

“I do not know what is bothering you. But I won’t pressure you to tell me.” He kissed her head softly. “But I wish you do. Because I want to be your confidante.” He kissed her hair again. “Since I love you meant that I would be there for you no matter hard life is. Just like you were here with me when I was not at my best.” 

Joohyun blinked her eyes that already welled with tears. She was torn between telling him or not. Because the last thing she wanted to was for him to give up his dream and future because her need to find answer for what a heart-disease carrier meant. And knowing him, the minute she told him, he would pack his stuffs and followed her.

She just could not do that to him. He deserved good career …. and lovely wife and healthy kids.
