double trouble [part II]

Run A Little Faster

DOUBLE TROUBLE

[part II]

It’s around midnight when blonde Jongin wakes up with a startle. He’s confused at first, as to where he is and what he’s doing here, but the memories quickly come back when he sees a person looking just like him sitting by the dinner table further away in the room. He squints, shivering at how bizarre it is, and his other self glances at him.

Kai gives him an angry once-over (he thought only Yunji can give angry once-overs) and Jongin shifts a little, leaning on his elbow. Only then he realizes that there’re warm bodies on the floor in front of the couch, the pack sprawled there, all sound asleep. Xiumin is hugging Min, Eun – who Jongin didn’t have the pleasure to meet in this universe yet – is hugging Xiumin, and Baekhyun is hugging Eun. They create a literal human sandwich, making Jongin smile in affection, because this is so much like his own pack.

“How are you feeling?” Kai whispers all of a sudden. Jongin snaps his eyes up at him hopefully. Kai still looks a bit tense, stern, reminding Jongin of a certain someone.

“Good,” he replies. “It’s really weird talking to you.”

“Your voice is weird,” Kai tells him.

“I feel like I’m talking to myself on the phone,” Jongin nods, smiling widely. Kai’s lips twitch in a beginning of a smile. “Hey, so—I get that you don’t live with your family anymore?”

“No,” Kai says, shaking his head. “They’re in Seoul. Except for—“

As on cue, someone unlocks the door from outside. Kai recognizes the heartbeat immediately and smiles a private smile, not believing Taemin has such good timing. He braces himself, waiting for his brother to enter the loft, and when he does, Taemin looks like a deer caught in the headlights. He freezes, his duffel bag handing awkwardly from his outstretched arm (he wanted to throw it by the wall) and eyes snapping from one Kai to the other.

“Wow,” he gasps. “I mean, I got the text, but Dal’s ‘don’t freak out when you come home’ did not prepare me for that,” he admits, finally putting the bag down softly, noticing all the people sleeping by the couch. “You—wow. Are you a shapeshifter? Or did Dal up a spell again?”

“He’s from another universe,” Kai explains. Taemin’s heart is beating like crazy and he looks a tiny bit overwhelmed. Jongin stands up from the couch, has to slide off of its armrest not to wake the pack, and walks towards Taemin a bit stiffly.

“Hi,” he says. “My Taemin has black hair, you know.”

“So we’re reversed,” Taemin says, grinning at him. “This is so weird.”

Kai’s phone vibrates on the table and he picks it up quickly, unlocking the screen.

“Okay,” he says. “Dal says she’s ready for the exorcism.”

Taemin gawks.

“The what?”

The exorcism goes much smoother than you expected. The demon is weak, not only from youth, but also from the Grimhold’s magic; when you open the tiny matryoshka doll, black smoke emerges from it, but there’s no fighting spirit in it.

You trap the demon in a Devil’s Trap and it doesn’t even try to break free. It takes a shape of a small girl with red, glistening eyes, and her body seems to be burning, evoking smoke all around her. She says nothing, even as you start the exorcism, your and blonde Jongin’s voices echoing through the gym basement’s walls. Having him by your side and chanting Latin spells seems a bit unreal.

It’s done before you realize. You feel your muscles strain, your magic sizzling under your skin, trying to become whole again. You sit down on the floor, tired, but not nearly as much as you were after Azazel. Jongin stretches above you, yawning, as if exorcising demons is the most normal thing in the world.

You think that it slowly is becoming normal, though. As normal as negotiating a treaty with witches and hunters; as normal as hunting down Wendigos and fairies with your werewolf friends.

But you know that the worst is just ahead of you.

“I’m gonna go upstairs,” you say, standing up, feeling the pain already prickle at your skin. You exit the basement, not even caring to close the vault, and you make it just in time to sit and curl against the wall, pain hitting full-force.

You bite your lip to stop from growling out in pain, but you still yelp quietly, hugging your knees, waiting for the long, painful wave to disappear. You feel Kai’s presence then. His arm envelops you in a hug and he places his warm palm on your forehead, muttering something into your ear, tickling your skin a little. You hear him saying that ‘it’s okay’ and ‘you did a great job’ and you melt a little, your brain more focused on picking up what Kai is saying than on the pain. It passes a few minutes later, leaving you gasping and sweating, and you feel Kai’s body plastered to yours, every nerve on your skin answering. You snuggle closer to him. His palm leaves your forehead just to brush your hair, getting a few stray strands of it out of your eyes. You feel a tear roll down your cheek and you wipe it away angrily, squinting a little at your wet fingers.

“Uh,” you say. “Now I’m also crying.”

Kai chuckles, planting a kiss on the top of your head, and you continue to wipe your moist cheeks. You glance up to see Jongin staring at you two with something akin to regret in his eyes.

Kai notices him then as well. Jongin blinks, his cheeks flushing a little. He mutters a quick ‘sorry’ under his breath and disappears behind the corner.

Taemin is dancing to Wonder Girls when Kai and the other Kai get home. He stops his y moves abruptly and goes to turn the stereo off, and when  he goes back to the kitchen, both Kais are already lurking around in search of food, peeking into the stew Taemin was just finishing making.

“My God,” Taemin muses, weirded out by the sight; Jongin jumps a little at his voice and Taemin goes from freaked out to shocked and excited in a span of 0.5 seconds. Both Kai stare at him wide-eyed as he high fives himself and jumps in place. “I just scared you!” he exclaims, pointing at Jongin. Kai grimaces.

“That does not count,” he says. “He’s not me!”

“But he is!” Taemin argues.

“What’s going on?” Jongin asks.

“I’m gonna go tell Sooyoung,” Taemin says, taking off to find his phone, but someone grabs the back of his collar and he’s pulled right back in. His Kai brings him close enough to flick him on the forehead.

“Doesn’t count!” he says.

“Oh, let me live!” Taemin begs, but Kai only traps him in a headlock. Jongin watches them and laughs his off, and when Kai and Taemin see this, they start laughing as well. At some point Kai lets Taemin go. Taemin jumps away from him, fixing his t-shirt in an attempt to get his dignity back, but it doesn’t work because Jongin then promptly slaps him on his .

“Oh my God!” Taemin exclaims, flailing around like a scared hen. “Freaking bullies!”

They eat the stew together. Kai starts doing the dishes when Taemin enters the kitchen, leaning dangerously close.

“You want me to stay?” he asks in a whisper.

“Hm?” Kai raises his brow at him, turning his head. They look at each other. “No, you can go home.”

Taemin raises his brows as well. “You sure? This must be weird for you. And it’s not like I’d mind staying a bit longer; that guy is pretty fun to be around with.”

Kai tries not to feel a pang of jealousy at that. Jongin is everything Kai is not; all smiley, happy, excited, and open. It’s obvious he and Taemin get along; Kai should’ve expected it, really.

He does feel a bit better at the thought of Taemin staying the night, though, so he nods his head ‘yes’ and goes back to washing the dishes. Taemin grins, nudges his elbow lightly and asks if he can help wiping the dishes dry.

They sprawl three mattresses in the living room, bring some pillows and duvets, and lie down to sleep. It’s around 4 am already.

Kai’s eyelids are already heavy when Jongin coughs a little, stirring him awake.

“Um,” he whispers, heart beating a little bit faster than it should. “So…are you and Y—Dal,” he corrects himself, “together?”

Kai’s heart flutters a little at the words and he feels stupid because of that. He scowls, as if his heart can see him, and replies, “Yes.”

“Since when?”

“A year or so,” Kai says.

“Wow,” Jongin muses, his heart beating even faster now. “What—what happened today at the basement? I mean, when you went to hug her? It happened back in the forest as well. After she used magic. Does it have to do anything with her powers?”

Kai pursues his lips, a lump forming in his throat as guilt and regret floods his senses. He lets out a shaky breath.

“She broke a rule for me,” he explains. “And she got punished for doing it.”

Jongin must feel that Kai doesn’t want to talk about it because he shuts up.

“Are you and Dal from your universe together?” Taemin asks softly. From the ba-thump of Jongin’s heart Kai can guess easily that the other him is in love with his Dal. Well, Yunji.

“No,” Jongin says, swallowing hard.

“Do you want to be?” Taemin asks.

“Tae,” Kai warns, closing his eyes.

“That’s fine,” Jongin says, because he’s the exact opposite of Kai, damn it. “Yeah, I want to. But she doesn’t want to let me in. She’s a bit damaged.”

“Damaged how?” Taemin inquires.

“She lost a bunch of people close to her,” Jongin explains. “She pretty much blames herself for it—it’s just hard to understand her sometimes. I feel like she might actually like me, but I always screw it up.”

“You’re not screwing it up,” Kai says defensively. He doesn’t know if he feels protective of the guy because he’s another version of himself or because now he feels super guilty for being mean to you in the past. “People are complicated. Give her time.”

Jongin nods solemnly. Kai doesn’t see him but he knows because the pillow he’s laying on rustles characteristically. Taemin lets out a quiet snort that only Kai hears because of his wolf power, and his heart flutters again.

*

Kai doesn’t like how close you’re sitting to the other him. He doesn’t like how your eyes light up when he says something and how excited both of you are. He doesn’t like that Jongin’s shoulder touches you and that he sometimes nudges your knee with his own when he points at something in the huge book in front of you, showing you something in particular.

Kai doesn’t do jealousy. It’s a waste of time. He especially doesn’t do jealousy since it’s theoretically him he’s jealous of. So. He’s above all that.

God, why is he sitting so close? They’re practically breathing the same air.

“What about the Raidho rune?” you ask curiously, pointing at a circle Jongin has drawn on a piece of paper. “It symbolizes journey, direction, right?”

“Yeah, but it also means freedom from imprisonment,” Jongin replies, shrugging a little. “So I guess it could be helpful, but not entirely? It probably wouldn’t make a difference if you added it or not.”

Jongin has been teaching you how to send the hellhounds away using a transportation circle he invented on his own. It’s fun, talking with him.

“Dude,” Yixing whispers to Kai. When Kai doesn’t react – his eyes observing Jongin’s every movement – Yixing nudges him with his foot, which looks a bit ridiculous, since Yixing is sitting on the floor and Kai is on the couch. The Alpha finally reacts, snapping his eyes down at the man, eyebrows raised.

“Yeah?” he asks. Yixing smiles up at him, at how attentive he suddenly becomes because Yixing is talking to him. He feels warm all over. Somehow, whenever Kai looks at anybody, even if he’s pissed, it’s like his whole undivided attention is on them; like he’s looking into their soul in search of things they trouble them, and searches for a way to fix it. Yixing always wonders if it’s an Alpha trait or a Kai trait.

“You’ll murder him with your glare alone,” Yixing says. Kai scowls a little. “Stop worrying. He’s not gonna jump her.”

“I didn’t think about him jumping her,” Kai says, shaking his head. “Until now, at least.”

Yixing grimaces. “Sorry.”

Kai focuses back on you and Jongin, and wow, he doesn’t like the way Jongin’s heart is beating. He doesn’t like how he looks at you like you’re his moon and stars, and he surely doesn’t like the hint of red on his cheeks. You’re talking about something, still excited; this look you have in your eyes is reserved for magic talk only and Kai cringes. Because he loves it when you get all worked up about magic and magical things and it looks like Jongin loves it too.

His eyes shine red suddenly, a low growl rising in his throat, but before you or Jongin can hear it, he clasps his hand over his mouth, shutting his eyes closed. Yixing tenses next to him, waits a few seconds and goes to sit next to him. Kai scoots a little closer to him as well in search for pack comfort, and he breaths out.

He almost lost control because of being jealous.

You check every ward that you’ve ever set in the city to make sure they’re all intact. You draw a few Devil’s Traps all around the town with chalk, so if the demon suddenly decides to come, you’ll just have to head to the closest Trap. Jongin teaches you how to send hellhounds away and you draw anti-possession symbols on every member of your pack to make sure none of them gets possessed when the enemy comes.

Jongin looks pretty embarrassed about it all.

“I didn’t want to get you all involved,” he says during a Monopoly game, scratching his head while Eun throws a cube onto the board. “I was supposed to drop by and go back, not stay for three days and make you fight for me.”

“We’re not fighting for you,” Chen tells him reassuringly. “We’re fighting with you. Together. Against enemies, and stuff. Dal says you’re almost as strong as she is; it’s always better to have two mages and a werewolf pack against one demon than one mage against a demon and hellhounds.”

“Not buying,” Eun says and then hands Min the cube. “Your turn.”

“My pack would help me,” Jongin defends as Min throws the cube and lets out a happy ‘yes!’.

“One mage, two mages,” Chen replies, motioning with his hands. “My point stands.”

“Besides, it’s fun having you,” Baekhyun adds, taking the cube from Min. He throws it and growls when he realizes he’s stepped on Yixing’s territory and has to pay. Yixing grins widely, shifting in his seat like a happy duck.

Kai watches it all leaning over the kitchen’s threshold, creeping as usually. You tip-toe to him from behind, throwing your arms out and hugging his middle, squashing your cheek against his back. Kai sways a little, grabbing the threshold to stop himself from falling, and his free hand immediately lands on your own clasped hands that are currently sticking into his abdomen. He tries not to melt.

“What’cha doing?” you ask, voice muffled. Kai raises his right arm so that he can grab your shoulder and forces you to stand beside him. You still hug his middle with your left arm, head finding that perfect place in the crook of his neck to lean on. Kai plants his lips on the top of your head, but doesn’t kiss you, just closes his eyes and hums.

“I’m lurking,” he replies eventually. You smile toothily.

“Oh really? And what have you lurked out?”

“That blonde really looks good on me. But I’m not ready for such dramatic changes just yet.”

You giggle at him.

Then someone calls Kai’s skype. The boy lets go of you, albeit quite reluctantly, and goes to pick up Chanyeol’s call. Chanyeol is wide eyed on the other side and there’s Suho next to him, looking quite excited.

“Hi?” Kai says.

“Which one are you?” Chanyeol asks. Or, well, screams. Kai cringes at the volume. Chanyeol’s face gets closer to the camera and he gets an eyeful of his bushy eyebrows.

“What?” Kai questions. Chen shows up by on side and wordlessly takes the laptop off the little table in the corner of the living room. Kai gawks at him, but Chen just giggles and pretty much runs towards the dining table, where the Monopoly game still lasts.

He places the laptop in front of blonde Jongin and everyone pile up behind the boy as he peers curiously at the screen.

“Oh, Yeol!” he exclaims when he recognizes the eyebrows.

Chanyeol jumps back from his laptop. Suho screams something along the lines of ‘let me see!’ and then he bends in front of the camera as well. “Oh my God, he’s blonde like me!”

“This is insane!” Chanyeol exclaims. “Where’s our Kai?”

Kai stands next to Jongin, rolling his eyes. Chanyeol and Suho both cover their mouths in awe and shock, gasping, and then Chanyeol begins to fangirl, flapping his arms around.

It’s impossible to make out what he – or Suho, for that matter – is saying, so you just laugh at them both.

You check the wards again, eat dinner in some bar by the road, and just like that, half the day passes by. You’re in Kai’s loft again, standing by the window with Jongin as he traces your tattoos with his finger, brows furrowed in concentration as he makes out separate shapes and symbols, and you hear him muttering the names of the said symbols under his breath, completely lost in them.

“They’re beautiful,” he says, nodding. He glances at your neck then. “You had one on the back of your neck as well, didn’t you?” he asks, and stretches his hand out to touch your skin there as well. Before you can step away or tell him not to touch your triangle tattoo, though, you hear a growl and a second later Jongin gets pushed back and onto the wall, hitting it with a painful yelp. You gasp, hands flying to cover your mouth, eyes snapping at Kai, who just lashed out on the other him.

“Kai,” you say, reaching out for him. You touch his wrist and Kai turns towards you, frowning, his eyes glowing red, his breath unsteady. He looks angry and betrayed, and snatches his wrist away from your grip. Your heart stutters in your chest. “Kai—“

He closes his eyes, shakes his head. When he looks at you again his eyes are back to normal, only this time you see guilt in them. He looks back at Jongin. The boy has stood up and is leaning against the wall. You suspect to see him scared, but instead you see him glaring, his body tense. You can feel magic bubbling under his skin.

“I’m sorry,” Kai says to him and walks away. Jongin still looks wary, even as Kai leaves the loft.

“Are you okay?” you ask Jongin, circling the dinner table and grabbing your things off of it. Jongin nods, muscles relaxing.

“I’m sorry,” he says. “I didn’t know—“

“Not your fault,” you assure him. “I’ll be back.”

You exit the loft, heading for the stairs. You always use the elevator when Kai isn’t looking, but you can’t make yourself to do it today. You feel like you’ve betrayed him and you hate it.

You catch up to him by the river. His pace is quick; everything about him screams anger and distress. You run a few meters more, finally reaching him, and you grab his wrist. He spins and you almost want to laugh at how drama-like it looked.

“I’m sorry,” you say. “I didn’t think. That meant nothing, he was just admiring the symbols, trying to figure out what they do—“

“I know, Dal,” Kai says, interrupting you. “I just—I got angry. I shouldn’t have reacted like that, though. But it was unsettling.”

“Why?” you ask, surprised. “He’s practically you. He’s going back to his own world soon—“

“He’s me, yes, exactly,” Kai says, gently taking his arm back. His wrist slips from between your fingers. “Only he’s happier, funnier, and less awkward, and—“

You kiss him. Just because you can. And because you want him to shut up. He leans into the kiss immediately, his lips reacting on their own, his hand cupping your cheek. And just like that, everything he wanted to say gets stuck in his throat and soon forgotten.

“I didn’t fall in love with happy, funny and out-going,” you point out, staring at him. “I like snarky, broody and sarcastic, with love for pudding and a kind heart.”

“I almost tore him apart because he wanted to touch your neck,” Kai points out, grimacing.

“Well, what can we do, you like my neck,” you shrug. “Don’t even lie. You love my neck.”

Kai blushes and steps away from you. You grin.

“It’s like your kryptonite,” you say, grinning even wider. “And you’re a born werewolf. There’ll be moments when you’ll be possessive and jealous; we can’t change that. That’s a part of you, and I don’t mind it at all.”

Kai doesn’t reply. He just stares at you, his cheeks getting redder and redder, and on his tan skin his blush is the color of amaranth flower. You heart begins to beat a little erratically.

“And this tattoo,” you say, your fingers brushing the triangle tattoo on your neck, “is the first one I ever got, anyway, and the most important. Because it connects me with you all. It’s no surprise you reacted the way you did.”

You see the moment Kai melts under your gaze and gives up on arguing any further. You smile at him.

And, of course, just as you’re about to say something or, for example, enjoy the moment of intimacy between you two, you feel black magic somewhere in the forest.

“Oh my God!” you exclaim, annoyed. “Always in such moments!”

Kai smirks. “I’ll go get Jongin.”

“Meet you in the forest,” you reply. You think, idly, when Kai started trusting you and your powers enough to let you go fight with monsters alone.

Well, not alone, you find out. In the middle of the way Kris drives past you in the police cruiser and sticks his head out of the rolled down window. “Get in!”

You jump in and you speed towards the forest on signal. You watch as the cars in front of you make way on the road and it takes three minutes or less to reach the forest road.

“Here,” you say, pointing at a path on the ride side of the road. Kris turns and comes to a sudden halt when a man shows up out of nowhere right in front of your car. You gasp in surprise.

“,” Kris says when the guy – obviously the demon Jongin talked about, if his black, hollow eyes are anything to go by – puts his hands on the car’s hood, his fingers piercing the metal there. “, come on—“

You unbuckle your seatbelt in a haste and Kris grabs your shoulders. You yelp at the force, and then you realize that the demon is lifting the car up, and merely a second later you’re hovering in air, the car standing upright, held purely by the demon’s supernatural strength. You hear Kris gasping, wrenching the door open, and then, before the car falls roof-first onto the forest ground, Kris jumps out of it, taking you with him.

You hit the ground heavily. You stumble a few steps away, rolling on the ground like a ball, and just a second later some invisible power lifts you off the soil.

You yelp when the demon throws you onto a nearby tree. You have enough experience with telekinesis to be able to stop your body from flying right before actually hitting anything, but you still fall onto your , thankfully without harm.

“Where is he?!” the demon screams, his voice truly scary. You shiver, remembering Azazel and everything involving Azazel. “Where’s the mage boy?!”

Someone whistles. Both you and the demon snap your heads at the voice, turning a little, and you see Jongin throwing a dagger at the demon. The man has a second to move slightly, but the blade still gets into his shoulder and he growls, more out of anger than out of pain.

“You filthy—“ he says, but as he tries to move his limbs go still. You stand up, squinting at the blade.

“You engraved Devil’s Trap into it,” you say, grinning. “Nice.

Kai is next to Jongin, aided by Kyungsoo and Xiumin. Kris stands beside you.

“Are you okay?” he asks.

“Yeah, you?”

“Whole.”

“Thanks for saving me out there, Spider-Man,” you say, winking at him.

You feel slight pain in your muscles after using telekinesis, but it doesn’t last long. You still cringe.

“What now?” Kai asks, pointing at the demon that’s still trying to break free. He looks furious. You’d be too, if a piece of silver and a few symbols could stop you from moving completely.

“Now we—“

The demon shouts. You don’t even have time to look at him because his power pushes you back again. This time you do hit a tree and it knocks the air out of your lungs. You open your eyes widely to see that everyone has been pushed back and that the demon is holding the dagger in his hand.

It melts in his palm.

“You and your stupid tricks,” he spits.

You gather your magic in your hands before he says anything else. It sizzles, creating current between your fingers; light erupts from it and you’re ready to throw it at him to knock him out, but you don’t even have to.

Because suddenly, light erupts behind him, another portal opening. You know how they feel by now; you can recognize one when you see it. Merely a second later a huge, light figure jumps out of it, and at first you think that you’re having hallucinations, because there’s an enormous, silver wolf literally pinning the demon to the ground, low growl erupting in its throat. And then a literal pile of people jumps out after the wolf, the whole pack, all eleven.

Your throat goes dry. The portal disappears, and so does the light, and you can see them all clear as a day. The wolf’s figure it towering above you all, its huge paw squashing the demon down, and you don’t know how the wolf does that, but the demon’s power seems to grow weaker and weaker by the second.

Chanyeol turns to look at Jongin. Jongin snaps out of whatever daze he was in and runs towards them, pulling the Grimhold out of his pocket. He says something quietly, his magic purring, and then the demon under the wolf’s paw turns into smoke that flies directly towards Jongin. He flails a little as he gets the Grimhold to open, and the smoke jumps into it with a sound similar to a vacuum cleaner, which would be hilarious if it wasn’t for the overall shock and confusion.

“Win!” Jongin says, raising the tiny Grimhold above his head, grinning widely at his pack. The other universe's pack cheers. You realize that Suho – who has black hair, interesting – is holding a silver robe. Still, the obvious Alpha werewolf that’s standing in front of you in a form of a huge, actual wolf is much more interesting than that. It looks like Kai in his wolf form. It’s just as big, but its snout is a little bit more slender, and it’s overall not as muscular. “And you even got me my robe!”

You tilt your head when you realize that you haven’t asked Jongin about your other self in his universe, and as you stare at the wolf, your heart begins to beat super fast.

You open your mouth to ask, but you don’t have to.

“Eyes!” other universe Suho says, and covers his eyes. You frown just as the silver wolf begins to shift right in front of you. You want to laugh at how the boys all yelp or let out gasps and cover their eyes in unison; you don’t bother to.

Because it’s you. It’s you from Jongin’s universe standing there, shifting from wolf to human. She – Yunji – practically snatches the robe out of Suho’s grip and throws it at herself, not even caring if it covers all of her. Then she jumps at Jongin, embracing him, and Jongin is still covering his eyes, so he shouts when he feels a body plastering itself onto him.

“You ing !” Yunji shouts, even as she’s hugging Jongin with all the power she has. Her hair is short, you notice, not even reaching her neck fully, and it looks very fluffy. She looks a bit pained, but also relieved, and when she pulls away from Jongin, he finally takes his hands away from his eyes and blinks down at her.

“Hi,” he says, grinning.

She scowls.

“Oh, my God,” you hear someone muttering. Only then you realize that the rest of your pack has joined you. “It’s Dal with Kai’s personality. Oh my God.

It’s Chen, of course.

Yunji looks at you. You swallow hard, giddy with excitement. She blinks at you.

“Wow,” she says quietly. “This is really weird.”

“I know!” you exclaim happily. “I’m an Alpha?” you gasp.

“I’m a mage?” Yunji grimaces. It doesn’t make you any less excited. You jump a little on your feet.

“And I’m silver,” you announce, turning to look at your own pack. “I’m silver as a wolf. Silver. What is irony? What is coincidence?

They all laugh at you. The other universe pack looks a bit taken aback with your behavior. You’re not really surprised; they’re probably used to you being gruff, just like you're used to Kai being gruff. It's so bizzare.

Yunji looks at your Kai than, noticing him, and Kai's eyes glow red.

“!” Suho exclaims, surprised. “Oh my God. He's an Alpha. I want a photo!”

You do end up taking photos. You wouldn't be yourselves if you didn't. There's the awkward group photo and tons of selfies with your clones, basically. They sure look like your clones. You even manage to take a photo with Yunji, and even though she pretends to be annoyed about it, you know that she’s secretly freaking out about it (just as much as you).

You really hope that no one ever sees the photos, because that’d be hard to explain. No Photoshop master could possibly create something as authentic as this.

They leave soon after exchanging hugs with you. Hugging yourself feels weird, but nice. The other universe Kai smells just like your Kai, only with a hint of magic under his skin. They're all awfully similar, almost painfully so. You feel like you're parting with your pack even when you have your own right by your side. The only difference you notice, really, are 1) that the other universe Suho turns out to be a total bad boy with a lip ring and a tattoo on his left shoulder, 2) the other universe Sehun is the sweetest person you’ve ever met, probably, almost as cute as Heejin, and 3) Chanyeol—

Okay, no, Chanyeol is the same, really. That’s why he hugs you like an octopus and laughs like an idiot.

You say all the necessary goodbyes, you exchange the photos, you spend some time exchanging stories about monsters as Jongin draws the transportation circle on the ground.

Kai and Jongin hug.

And then they’re gone.

Kai throws his arm around your shoulders, bringing you close and kissing you on your temple. Someone from your pack lets out a loud ‘eww!’ but you decide to ignore them. Kai leans in.

“She loves him,” he tells you with a smile. You smile as well, squeezing his hand.

"Yo, leader," someone says, grabbing Kai by the neck and yanking him away from you. It's Baekhyun and he's half-hugging, half-tickling Kai as he bends forward, trying to get away from Baekhyun's grip. "You know we love you, right?"

This time everyone lets out a loud 'ew!', including you, and you all promptly jump at Kai, demanding cuddles as he pretends to be annoyed by all of you.

It looks like I broke the system with double Kai. Or at least your brains XD I hope you enjoyed it cutiepies.

I wanted to ask you if there's anything in particular you'd like me to write about. I have a bunch of ideas for the next chapters, but I find inspiration 24/7, and so if you have any new ideas for a chapter, please let me know, I'll take them into consideration! :D I am already planning the Jung sisters and Jaejoong chapters, so you don't have to remind me about that, though.

I also opened an ask.fm account if any of you feels like dropping by and, well, ask stuff XD

Love ya strawberry glazed donuts!

Chapter 103: My favourite fic came to an end. I can't believe it's been years. I am so happy that the story is still up. Thank you for such a wonderful story. Always will remember this forever.

Chapter 103: God.....the epilogue came so soon and I was not ready to end this 😭😭😭 but great ending! It's nice and cute and wholesome! 😊💓 Feel sad that Chen didn't get a girl 🤣 but he had more screentime so I'm not complaining 😉 I wonder how many years passed from the last battle (or I just didn't catch it) but all of them grown right? Maybe around 4-5 right? Or I'm just awfully wrong at guessing 😆😆😆 Anyways, it's a fun and great journey reading this fabulous series again! In love with ALL the characters, including the bad ones too. So many creativity and uniqueness to the plot! Love it! And Dal is so an extrovert and loved by all her friends,,,,,it makes me so jealous of her 😅 cause my real life with no funny friends like hers huhu 🌸 If I'm up and bored for more adventure, I'm sure to read this again in the future~ 😉
