Chae Won woke up the next morning feeling displeased. Sang Yeob left a card, full of warm greetings, by her pillow, a gesture that surely will put the rare smile on her face but that morning it didn’t work. An immediate sour sulk appeared on her face when she saw Joong Ki’s place empty.

      She muttered under her breathe and walked in the shower. She put on a pastel dress, a light shade of green, just to mark that special day. The thin silver necklace that used to stay put in a velvet box, now hung beautifully around her slender fair neck. Her mother’s necklace.

     She descended the stairs, noting how silent the whole house was. There wasn’t a single soul to be seen. She yelled for Joong Ki but he didn’t appear. She walked to the kitchen and slowly twisted the gold knob. It was dark and candles lit the space.

     It was breathtaking, how the candles made a path for her to walk, and Joong ki stood at the end, smiling cheerfully, with a cake in his hands. She was agaped, it was really one of the best views she ever seen.

      She looked at the cake, messily covered with chocolate and written in a clumsy handwritting, ‘Happy Birthday Girlfriend<3’. She looked back at him and in the dim glowing orange lights his eyes only reflected passion. How she loved that look on his face. He mouthed her to blow the candles and she did, slowly trying to savour the moment.She had imagined how her boyfriend would celebrate her birthday and it was nothing to this.Even the guy she imagine was nothing to Joong Ki.

       As soon as the candles blew out,the lights came on and she gaped when every maid was there, clapping. Colourful balloons decorated every nook and corner of the kitchen, bringing it to live with the vivid colors. His hands abandoned the cake on the table and s around her waist before pulling their bodies together. The audience started squealing and he gave her the cheeky smile and the infamous wink. For once in her life, she smiled back, genuinely taken over by his sweet surprise. Suddenly, the cheeky smiling guy was leaning his forehead aginst hers and slowly his hot lips smooched her forehead.

     She can barely hear the clapping and cheering in the background for all she could register in her brain was the warm sensation building in her, his soft eyes and the desire for more.

     “I made this for you. Happy birthday. I can’t go out to buy present or anything special for you because well, you know. I am to be around you at all times. So I did some researching and ta-da!
