“AISH!” Jackson slams the door to his room, leaving you awkwardly standing outside with his mom.

“I’m so sorry, dear... He’s like this because he lost a match against Kevin... You know how bad their relationship is...”

“It’s okay, Auntie... I guess it’s best that we leave him alone for a while. In no time, I’m sure he’d be okay and he’d go back to his old self.” I hope so...

While it was just a friendly match, you know that Jackson’s pride received a huge blow after losing against Kevin. The latter has been a rival of his since who-knows-when. Your boyfriend has always detested the other and you know the feeling’s mutual. Jackson just rants with you and his family but always tries to keep everything professional. Kevin, on the other hand, always mumbles side comments, obviously provoking Jackson. If not for you Jackson’s probably already beaten Kevin up to a pulp.

“Yes, dear. See you tomorrow and please take care. Thank you for being such a supportive girlfriend to my son,” Mrs. Wang tells you with a smile.

Days passed and Jackson still hasn’t gotten better so you decided to cook for him. You know how much he loves it whenever you do it. On your next visit, you brought homemade Kimbap with you to share with Jackson. You quietly entered his room and found him in his bed, staring blankly at the ceiling.

“Honey? Are you okay?” You rushed to him and knelt beside his bed.

“Just leave me alone...” He tells you without any hint of emotion.

“Jackson... You have to eat... Auntie said you haven’t been eating much lately. Here, take a bite. I made this just for you~” You take a piece of Kimbap and offer it to your boyfriend.

“Alex, please... I want to be alone...”

But you’re not backing down. You can no longer stand seeing him like this. To coax him into eating and to lighten his mood, you kid, “Here comes the plane~~~ Open your mouth, come on~~~” He isn’t opening his mouth so you went on, “Oh! With wide eyes and your mouth open, you stare at him then to the ground. All your efforts have gone to waste. You bite your lip trying to keep yourself from crying but to no avail.

“Alex...” Jackson carefully puts his hand on your shoulder.” I... I’m sorry... I told you, I just want some time alone...”

“Is pride more important than your loved ones?”

“No, I think I already know the answer...” You say as you left for the door, leaving him dumbfounded.
