When Sehun came home from school that day, he asked me why I went home early; I told him that I came home so that I could stop feeling sorry for myself and that when I woke up the next day, I would be done with letting myself get hurt.
He then spent the rest of the evening cheering me up; by telling me how Baekhyun had to be taken to the hospital because Chanyeol had accidently shoved a pencil up his nose.
And when Tuesday came around, I entered school like nothing fazed me, I smiled when I knew I had to and I sat with everyone at lunch. I even spoke to Luhan like it didn’t bother me; everyone was obviously confused as to what was going on with me, but on the outside it was like nothing was wrong at all.
And after school when Kai was parked outside of the school, leaning against his car eyeing each student before his eyes fell on me, I knew I had one last thing to do.
“You know,” He let out a chuckle when I was close enough to hear it, “I honestly thought you’d call me after Saturday, imagine my surprise when you didn’t,”
“Well I was busy,” I told him,
He frowned, “With Sehun? What are you with him now? Seriously Sara?”
“It’s not like that,” I shook my head at him, “Sehun is like… my best friend, the only person who doesn’t contribute to my drama and instead helps it out, like you for example,” I sighed, “The person who didn’t tell me that they were related to Luhan through marriage,”
“What my sister does,” Kai told me, “Has nothing to do with me as a person Sara,”
“But the fact that you knew more about Luhan’s situation… Kai you know how hard it’s been for me,” I frowned,
He cupped my face gently, “I know, I’m sorry. I wanted to tell you but I didn’t want to see the same look in your eyes when you actually found out,”
“Why are you here Kai?”
“Come with me okay?” he removed his hands from my face and opened the door for me,
~
“So if you were related to Luhan this whole time, why are you so bitter towards each other?” I asked him,
Kai gripped the steering wheel a little tighter, “You… You’d think bad of me if I told you Sara,”
“Kai,” I sighed, “Please,”
“Alright but you better not hate me for this because it’s nothing to do with you Sara,” He swallowed harshly, “My sister married Luhan’s brother when we were both in middle school, when we met, when they were dating we were good friends believe me we were,”
“Then what happened?”
He heaved a sigh, “It was at my sister’s wedding when I first spotted Krystal,”
“Krystal? As in…?”
“Yeah,” He shook his head, “I thought she was the prettiest girl I had ever seen, believe me I was young and naïve, but I liked her, and I was going to talk to her but… I overheard Luhan’s dad introducing them to each other, he stated that this was his future wife,”
“That young?”
Kai nodded, “Yeah Luhan’s known since then that he had his future mapped out for him, he didn’t like Krystal, but I did – do you understand what it’s like to like someone when someone else has the chance to grab them? But it turned out that Krystal wasn’t how she appeared to be, she wasn’t the sweet little girl that she looked Sara and that’s what you need to understand, I really do like you, it’s not because Luhan likes you that I do, it’s just a mere coincidence,”
“How did you hate Luhan that much Kai? If you knew that Krystal wasn’t how she appeared to be?”
“Luhan was popular, he could have everything if he wanted to and the fact he got Krystal but didn’t want her really irked me, just like how he’s got you
