Twenty Seven - 27

Wishes Can Come True

        {Sunhee}

I looked back, immediately groaning and rolling my eyes when I saw Minseok and Jongdae a good ten feet away from us, and they looked tired and annoyed, especially Minseok.

"Oh, come on," I mumbled and crossed my arms as I looked at them with a stern look, ignoring the people passing by us.

And by 'us', I meant Yixing and I.

True I was a little annoyed at them for being so lazy and getting tired easily, but I was kind of grateful that they were being lazy and they got tired easily, because I get to spend a little more time with Yixing.

"Are-are they always like this?" I turned to Yixing with a raised eyebrow as I uncrossed my arms.

He actually chuckled and then nodded. "Yeah, when we always walk instead of riding a car."

"Why . . .  aren't you panting, Yixing?" Alright, it came out a little shaky, but I was nervous right now, even less nervous when the two slowpokes come here. "You're not tired like these, rich boys?"

Yixing chuckled and eyed the two as they walked nearer and nearer, only three feet left, Minseok and Jongdae. Hmpf.

"I have more stamina than them because I-umm, I dance," he smiled and shrugged.

"Oh," I straightened up when the two other boys stopped in front of Yixing and I. "I see," I turned to them with a raised eyebrow again. "You-"

"Sunhee," Minseok panted as he stood up and placed his right hand on his hip. "You didn't tell me you're definition of near is actually almost half a kilometer away!" he complained as he narrowed his eyes on me.

I couldn't help but laugh. "Oh, come on, Minseokkie, you're overreacting!" I placed my hand on hi shoulder and lean on to his side as I poke his stomach. "You need the exercise,"

Yixing laughed and Jongdae snorted. "Yeah, you're right, Sunhee; he needs it." he said, his voice sounding a little exhausted.

Minseok didn't complain, he just grumbled but his expression alone said that he was still very much annoyed.

   "But, Sunhee, where is-"

"Are you guys far-sighted or something?" I rolled my eyes again and pointed to my left. "Tell me you at least noticed the sign,"

The three boys looked to the left and Jongdae smiled in relief. "Oh, good,"

"This is Kang Pierre's Amusement Park," I said as we walked through the entrance that was decorated with banners and colorful streamers.

"It opened last year and I'm surprised it's still not yet known. Are-are you guys sure you didn't know about this?" I asked Jongdae in particular.

He shook his head as he looked around. "Nope. There's no people around here, huh? I can only see . . . couples and some kids."

"Like I said; it's not yet known,"

"Oh! They have a dumplings and steamed buns! Baozi, didi!" Xiumin said excitedly as he pointed at the Chinese-styled stand. "Hey, we're just going to-"

"Xiumin ge . . . " Yixing said something in Chinese that I didn't understand, but Minseok did and his face contorted in annoyance again.

   "Fine," he grumbled.

I looked at the two of them, from Yixing to Minseok, with a curious look on my face. "Uhh . . " I turned to Jongdae and raised an eyebrow.

I didn't need to say anything, because being my childhood friend, he understood right away. "Xiumin wanted to go get some baozi - steamed buns, but Lay told him we can buy later when we're going out. And besides, we recently ate," he said as he looked back at his hyung

"Yeah, but the walk really wore me out you know,"

"I'll treat you to baozi, Minseok," I offered him with a small smile as he narrowed his eyes on me. "If, of course, you can beat me in a game."

Xiumin sighed and his eye lids dropped a little as he narrowed his eyes more on me while Jongdae chuckled. "I won't-"

"Oh, don't chicken out on me, op-pa!" I , giggling slightly. I never was the one who would use honorifics, but . . . eh, it's just for teasing him anyways. "Come on, I'll buy you all the steamed buns you want and dumplings,"

There was a moment of silence between the four of us, the only thing we could hear was the noise around us - laughter and talking.

I was staring right into Minseok's eyes, but from the corner of mine, I could see Jongdae and even Yixing were amused.

Xiumin broke eyecontact with me as he looked at his two best friends. He grumbled after and rubbed the back of his head vigorously. "Urgh, fine, fine, fine! If you win though . . . can I do nothing? No punishment,"

"Alright," I agreed, this guy would look pitiful later on when I beat him. "Let's play something classic and simple, like whack-a-mole and oh! There's a water gun shooting booth, you want to try that?"

His eyes lit up and he beamed. "That's my favorite! Let's go!"

   {Jongdae/Chen}

"Ahahaha!" Xiumin laughed at my loss and he slapped my back a little too hard. "You lost to a girl, Kim Jongdae! A girl! And you lost twice!"

I grumbled as the three others laughed, Xiumin the most. "Oh, shut up, hyung. You lost to her too! You're no better,"

Sunhee had won over me again in shooting the targets with water guns, now, she not only has a girly keychain - but also, a medium-sized stuff panda bear. It would of been a lot better if I won and gave those prizes to her.

"You did great, Sunhee!" Lay said as he and Sunhee high-fived each other. "But, then again, Chen isn't so good in games, especially in aiming and shooting."

"Hey!" I looked at Lay and frowned.

He just laughed and shrugged. "Come on, we have to rest. My legs feel like jelly after we rode on the Gravitron,"

"Come to think of it, mine too," I agreed and walked past Xiumin with a glare pointed at him. "Let's sit on that bench over there for a while,"

"Tch. Who made you guys tell us what to do?" Xiumin said as we started walking. "I'm the eldest,"

"Then, start acting like it, hyung," I and stuck my tongue out.

Sunhee actually laughed as she nudged Xiumin in the sides. "He's got a point, you know."

He snorted again and just shook his head. "Tch. Whatever," he mumbled. But when I was about to sit down, he pulled me by the arm, making me stumble a little. "As punishment, you're coming with me, Kim Jongdae."

"Mwoya? What do you-hey! Ugh," Too late, he was already dragging me away from Lay and Sunhee. "What's your problem, Kim Minseok?" I retorted as I pulled my arm away from his grip.

"Something's fishy going on here, and I have something to ask you," he said with narrowed eyes on me again.

"Fishy? What do you mean, hyung?" I asked him as I looked back, Sunhee and Lay were still in sight - but we were getting farther and farther away from them. I sighed and placed my hands in my pant's pockets. No point in going back now, I'm just going to tire myself more.

"You really must be hungry, huh, Xiumin?" I said.

"Shut up," he just grumbled and turned to the right, heading for the public toilet. "Stay here and guard, arasso?"

"Oh, alright, fine," I sighed and leaned against the door when he closed it. "What were you going to ask me?"

He didn't answer right away, I heard some muffled sounds at the other side of the door before he did answer me. "Ish bveen vodering meh fo sum-"

I pounded the plastic door three times before loudly saying; "Speak up! You're voice is soft and muffled,"

He got even with me by opening the door directly, making me stumble and almost fall back, but good thing he caught me. But unfortunately, he threw me back up, making me trip over my own feet. "Gaah!"

"You deserve it," he said a little angrily as he closed the bathroom's door shut. "You scared the crap out of me when you banged on the door!" he complained.

I only grumbled as I glared at him. Xiumin huffed, his chest going up and then down directly, he walked past me as he said: "It's been bothering me for the whole day,"

I rolled my eyes as I caught up with him. "What's been bothering you?"

He didn't answer for a while and we stopped walking as I just looked at him. “Do you like Sunhee?” he said, being straight-forward with this.

I turned to face him, he did look serious. “Mwoya? What do you mean by-“

“Tch, don’t act stupid, Kim Jongdae,” he said as he flicked my forehead. “I told you, it’s been bothering me for some time now. Before her, you didn’t talk to any of the other students in the school; you even missed out on game night last time when you were “researching” with her.” Xiumin said, putting air quotations on the word ‘researching’.

“Aish,” I stopped and pushed him to the side, but that didn’t stop him from looking at me knowingly. “Hyung, what are you talking about? We did research, and yeah, the first thing is true . . . and, so?”

“You also eat lunch with her now, instead of us,” he said and pointed at himself with his eyes wide. “I also noticed that you smile more often, and well, I see the way you look at her Chen.”

“And again; what are you talking about?” I asked as we continued walking again.

“So, is that what it feels, Chen?” he asked me, really confusing me this time for real.

     “Eh? What-“

“You’re still a kid though, I’m sure you’ll figure it out sooner or later,” he just said. “And besides, I think she likes you too. Not in the friend kind of sense, I can just see it in her eyes and the way she smiles when you say something.”

I stopped again in my tracks, making him stop too. “Xiumin, seriously, what are you talking about? I’m seriously lost right now.”

“Well, you’ll find the answer, and when you do, I hope you make a move. Sunhee’s a good girl, not really your type but-“

“Wait,” something inside my head clicked. I think . . . I was beginning to understand part of what he was trying to say. “Hyung, are you-are you saying, or implying that I-“

“It’s actually kind of nice, and amusing to see you like this Chen.” He said as he started walking again, this time, I followed him. “I haven’t seen you like this since . . . well, I actually haven’t see you like this ever.” He said, giving me a knowing smile.

Xiumin, the eldest yet the childish hyung in our group, was actually a little wiser and knowing than I thought.

I shook my head and placed my hands in my pocket. “Hyung, It’s not realy like that, she’s just a fr-“

“Hey,” he said, flicking his eyes away from mine, I looked back to see what he was looking at. “Are those Sunhee’s friends or something?”

          {Sunhee}

“He-hey! Where are you guys going?!” I shouted after them, but they didn’t even look back at us.

Behind me, Yixing chuckled. “Don’t worry, Sunhee,” he said when I looked back at him. “They’re always weird, especially Xiumin ge. He’s always like that,”

     “He’s always weird?”

He chuckled again and nodded before sitting down on the bench. “Unfortunately, yes, he is.”

“Oh,” was all I could say. I was hesitant to sit down, and when I actually did, there was half a meter of space between us.

Silence followed afterwards. Ten, twenty, twenty-five, thirty seconds passed.

There was this sound, a grumbling kind of sound, and instantly, I brought my hand to my stomach and rubbed it. “Oh, gosh,” I mumbled, slightly embarrassed.

     “Are you hungry?” Yixing asked.

     Already feeling my cheeks turning red, I nodded slowly. “Um-uhh, ki-kind of . . . “

I felt him stand up, and when he did, I looked up at him – he was grinning down at me. “I’ll go get you something to eat, Sunhee. You wait-“

     “You-you don’t have to, Yixing!”

He shook his head. “It’s fine by me, I’m kind of hungry myself.”

“But-but . . . but you’re tired, right?” I said softly as I looked down. I appreciated what he was doing, I actually secretly liked it. “You said you’re legs felt like jelly, it’s okay if you-“

“It’s food, Sunhee, and I’m hungry too,” he said as he began to walk away.

     “You-Wait! Not you too!”

He looked back and I swore, he literally took my breathe away with that smile of his and that undeniably cute and innocent look on his face. “Stay there, Sunhee. Chen and Xiumin might be back any minute, so just stay put. I won’t be long,”

“I-“ I didn’t protest, I actually couldn’t protest. So, I just watched him walk towards the food stands.

I then smiled to myself and leaned back on the bench. “He’s so sweet,” I whispered.

“What were you doing with him?”

“Are you guys on a date?”

    “Are you dating Lay oppa?!”

Three different voices asked me three different demanding questions literally out of nowhere. I jumped in shock and looked at my left, three different girls were standing a few feet away and they didn’t look that happy.

“I-uhh, aniyo!” I said directly. Oh great, fan girls. “Ani, ani, ani – andwae! Don’t-don’t misunderstand!” I was already on my feet, as I shook my head.

“Yah!” the girl in the middle said as she looked at me with narrowed eyes that were full of distaste. “You’re that girl, right? Cha Sunwi-“

“Ugh,” I groaned, cutting her off. “It’s Sunhee, actually,”

     “Whatever!” she snapped at me.

“I thought you were already with Chen oppa,” a snotty-voice girl, the one in the right, said. “Are you cheating on him with his best friend?”

“Eh?” the other one said the one in the left with huge eyes. She looked at me and her face contorted in annoyance. “Are you two-timing him? Waah! Omo, you-“

“Jongdae and I are just friends,” I said firmly and looked at them with hard stares. Yixing, Minseok, Jongdae, where the hell are you guys?

“So, you’re going after Lay then?” the snotty girl said.

“We’re also just friends with Yixing too,”

“Tch,” the girl in the middle stepped forward and crossed her arms. “I don’t belie-“

    “Is there a problem here?”

I sighed in relief and turned to the side to face Jongdae and Minseok. They were looking at their own fan girls, but their eyes were narrowed.

“Omo!” one of the girls said. They squealed and fixed their hair as well as their clothes. “Ch-Chen op-“

“Were you guys picking on our Sunhee?” Minseok said as he moved over to me, slowly putting his arms across my shoulders, but I immediately pushed his arm away.

“Minseok,” I hissed as I glanced at him. “What-“

    “You-your Sunhee?”

Jongdae smiled in amusement and nodded. “Yeah, she’s our good fr-“

But, Minseok cut him off. “She’s on a triple date with us,”

“MWOH?!” the two girls at the side said in chorus, while the one in the middle had her jaw opened – like me.

“Minseok!” I slapped his right arm and looked pointedly at him before turning to the mortified girls. “Ani! Don’t misunderstand! He’s just kidding, he’s only fooling around! Right, Minseok?!”

He actually had the guts to laugh about this. “Yeah, yeah, I’m only kidding. Sunhee-ah, is a friend of our’s.”

“And you shouldn’t pick on our friend,” Jongdae added a little sternly.

“Pi-picking on?” the girl in the middle exclaimed and looked at me with wide eyes before turning back to the two kingkas. “She’s-umm-I mean, we were only saying ‘hello’ to her! Because Sunw-Sunhee is our friend too, oppa, and-“

“I hope you’re telling the truth,” Minseok said as he turned me around, making me clutch on my stuffed panda bear. “I don’t like girls who lie,”

“But Yixing went that way,” I whispered to him.

“Sorry,” he mumbled back and we headed to the direction Yixing had went, Jongdae following behind us.

“Ha!” Minseok said loudly when he looked back at the rather dumbfounded-looking girls. “That was fun, did you see their faces, Chen?”

He only nodded in reply and smiled at me. “You okay? Did they harass you or anything?”

I shook my head. “They were alright; they just talked to me and asked me some questions. They weren’t that harmful,”

“That’s good, we’re really sorry about that, Sunhee.” Minseok said as he released his grip on my shoulders. “They tend to go psycho when they see us with another girl, particularly a pretty girl like you,”

     “You’re such a charmer, aren’t you?” I retorted back.

Jongdae laughed while I saw Minseok frown at the corner of my eyes. “Hmpf. Anyways, where’s La-“

“Heeeeey~” Yixing greeted when he saw us. “I was just about to head over and-”

“Why did you leave her?” Jongdae asked. “And did you buy food?” he said as he grabbed the plastic bag from Yixing's hands.

“Is that baozi?” Minseok’s eyes lit up, but then it died down when he saw that it wasn’t steamed buns.

     “Why? What happened?”

    “Sunhee got ambushed-“

“A few girls, some . . . err-‘fans’ of your’s saw me with you and they-umm, well, let's just say it’s okay.” I tried for a smile and then shrugged right after.

     "I-oh, really? I'm sorry, Sunhee, I-"

"I told you not to go," I said to him teasingly as I placed my hands on my hips, still holding on to the stuffed animal I had won.

Yixing just rolled his eyes. “I’m not sorry for that, you were hungry after all,” he took something – it was Boong Uh bbang or ‘Golden Fish Bread’, one of my favorites.

“Ah, jinjja? This is my favorite!” I said happily as I took it from his hands, our fingers brushing ever-so slightly. “Mm, it tastes really good. You picked nice ones, Yixing, gumuwo!”

He actually chuckled at me and he did something I didn’t expect he would do; he ruffled my hair and then caressed the tips of my lips, almost like brushing the crumbs away and the action immediately made me blush. “You’re so silly, Sunhee-ah,” he said with that dimpled smile. “But it’s actually cute,” he mumbled.

“I-oh-um-” I looked down, resisting the urge to blush right now.

“Hey,” Xiumin said, his voice was a little muffled because he was eating. “What about baozi, hm? I still want to eat it,”

“By the time you do, Xiumin, your stomach will grow even bigger,” Jongdae scoffed and patted Minseok’s stomach, earning him a glare from the older one.

I couldn’t help but laugh at them.

“Tch, whatever. Come on, “ he turned around and headed towards the other side of the amusement park, Yixing following his pursuit immediately.

“Come on you guys,” Yixing said as he looked back at Jongdae and I.

I looked at Jongdae and smiled as I linked arms with him. “Come on, I still didn’t treat you yet,” I said when we began catching up to them, ready to eat some more food and ready for the day to end.

Chapter 34: This is really good. It's rare to find nice Chen and Lay stories. I've enjoyed every chapter and to be honest, I'm torn between the two at the moment. Just like how Sunhee is neutral right now. Jongdae is a very nice guy who Sunhee is comfortable with. Yixing is her first love and the one she has always hoped to be with. But I think sometimes, she's just fooling herself when she tries to think that her feelings for Jongdae are completely platonic.

Anyways, I'm enjoying the plot and progression of the story. There are a few typos in most chapters, but I'm sure when you have the time to edit them, everything will be perfect :). Fighting, auhtor-nim!
