I stood outside of his door, panting heavily. “Taidang! Let me in!”

“No.”

“It’s Kalyn! Open up!”

“Don’t you realize Kalyn, death is inviting me in? I will be answering it-“

“Taidang! Don’t you think of such things!”

“A life for a life…don’t you think that’s a good trade? I have pills here, in case you didn’t know…”

“TAIDANG!”

I woke up in cold sweat, panting heavily, grasping the covers in my hands.

Damn it, why did he have to kill himself??

I buried my face in my hands, trying to stop my tears. I thought he was going to be my hero…only to see that he turned to be my coward.

My burden for being helpless.

It was my fault for choosing that path on my way home.

I shook my head. How was I supposed to know there would be a fight there? It was always relatively peaceful…

Apparently he had known. And he chose to get me out of there.

Why did he have to be in a gang? The police told me afterwards, after I saw his lifeless body. He said he had pills, but he had bruises all over, a cut on his lip.

This neverending guilt...

He had suffered because of me.

I promised to never let anyone else suffer because of me.

The nightmares held me to my promise.

[A/N] I know y'all want to know what happens next with Kalyn and Tao, but I feel like it's necessary for you guys to know about this.

Because this is the reason why Kalyn does what she has done and will do.
