Chapter Forty One
Can I continue feeling this way?gif credit to http://tieba.baidu.com/p/1776342744
I shut my eyes. I expected to feel a breeze, a gust of some type of wind, yet nothing touched me. I opened my eyes, looking for the problem, yet gasped in shock when I did.
There in front of me was some type of being. It hovered in front of me, long wavy hair swaying back and forth even though there was no wind. The fact that [she] was floating and nothing around us was moving caused me to look down.
I was hovering as well.
The ants in the shopping centres stood frozen. They were just... motionless. Some of them were in the middle of a step, now balancing on one leg until whatever was happening subsided. I looked back to the being in front of me.
"Wu Yifan, I am Jie Lian, the angel of Death." From her feminine voice I could tell she was a woman. Her face held sharp angles, soft pale skin, while her eyes were the blackest of black. Looking into them felt deadly, as if my soul would get right inside. She was wearing a black, flowing dress. A train of lace was connected to the back, it somehow blowing in the nonexistent wind as well. There was one feature about her that struck me.
Her wings.
Large and bold, they pierced the air as if they had power over oxygen itself. Every inch held a feather, dark as soot. I blinked once, yet as soon as I opened my eyes again, the angel's body disappeared into a cloud of dust. Within the next milisecond, a lighter figure replaced her.
"And I am Jia Lien, the angel of Life." Her voice was melodic. Her skin seemed as if it had tiny diamonds in it, reflecting the light of the sun with an angelic glow. Her dress white, lacy, and like the other, flowing in the wind. Her eyes were a piercing shade of white, and her lips held the lightest shade of crimson ever possible. She had wings as well, yet they were different than the other's. This woman's wings resembled that of a butterfly, miscellanous designs dancing throughout as if it were canvas.
"What is going on?" I asked, trying to hide the shakiness of my voice. "Why am I floating in mid-air?" I looked down once more to ensure that I really was, and confirmed that as soon as I saw the same ants stuck in the same positions.
"We were sent here for your time of Awakening, Yifan." Jia Lien responded. Her singsong voice was soothing, but at a moment like this, that was the least of my thoughts.
"My what?" I cocked an eyebrow, confused.
This had to be a dream. It just had to be.
The angel before me disappeared and was replaced with the dark one before I could even process that they had switched.
"Your Awakening. The other's as well." Jie Lian's sharp voice sent a shiver down my spine.
"The... others?" What the hell was she talking about?
"You are not like any other human on this planet. You were born with a gift, as were your other 11 brothers."
.
They switched again. Jia Lien now faced me, white dress and pale skin nearly blinding me as the sun started to escape from the clouds and reflected off of her.
"You couldn't just use it, however. An event had to happen to Awaken this gift, this power."
"Power?" I mumbled to myself.
"Look at yourself Yifan. You are not floating." She waved her hand in front of me, a mirror soon forming.
I gasped, and stumbled backwards, barely able to regain my footing.
"You are flying."
