Chapter 33: Last Bet

My Twin Babysitter

*Sentences in Gray are flashbacks. Just saying :D*

NOBODY’s POV

“Is that true?” Youngmin asked, eyes staring at Woojung while the latter looked from him to her appa without answering.

“I asked you, what you just said… is it true?” Woojung closed her eyes and run out of the house leaving Donghyun and Youngmin startled.

“Woojung!” Youngmin was about to follow Woojung when he saw Donghyun.

“I trust you, now go.” Donghyun smiled to which the younger boy returned with a determined look. Youngmin immediately ran out of the house to follow Woojung. As soon as Youngmin saw a black haired girl running, he immediately grabbed her arm and turned her towards him only to see the girl’s eyes filled with tears.

“Woojung—“

“What?! So what if it’s true?! You don’t give a about me or what’s gonna happen to me right?! So let go of me—“ Without notice, Youngmin suddenly held Woojung’s face and placed his lips on hers. Woojung flinched and punched Youngmin’s arms to which the boy only ignored. Sensing that the boy won’t let go anytime soon, Woojung dropped her arms and closed her eyes as the tears continued to fall down on Youngmin’s hands. After Woojung calmed down, Youngmin let go of the kiss and was surprised to see Woojung still crying.

“My first kiss…” Woojung said in between her sobs making Youngmin chuckle. He then grabbed Woojung and wrapped her tightly in his arms as if afraid of letting the girl go. Woojung’s eyes widened at the action as she let Youngmin speak.

“I don’t care if what you said awhile ago is true or not, but what I’m gonna say now is the truth.” Youngmin breathed deeply and looked at Woojung straight in the eyes.

“I love you. All I want is you. We always fought about the silliest of things and even if I don’t want to admit it, I can’t do anything about my feelings anymore. When I found out about Minwoo confessing to you, it’s like I was poured down with a pail of cold water. I was so bitter that I can’t look at you in the eyes. I’m sorry if it made you depressed. It’s just that I don’t want you to see me in that kind of state. I felt ashamed of myself.” Youngmin paused as he wiped the tears from Woojung’s face.

“It might be selfish of me, but I can’t stop myself anymore. I don’t want to see you marrying anybody but me. Before, when I became your babysitter, I told myself that I will take care of you but now I realized that that’s not only it. Not only will I take care of you but I will also love you FOREVER.” Woojung hugged Youngmin and closed her eyes, feeling his hearbeat.

“What I said is true. You’re the only one that I’d want to marry but I’m scared… I don’t want to lose you.” Hearing Woojung, Youngmin can’t help but smile as he placed a kiss on her head.

“Don’t worry. I won’t let that happen. I will be the one to marry you.”

“Kwangmin, I’m off. I will bring Woojung to school today.”

“Hyung—“ Kwangmin was about to stop him but Youngmin already went out of the house. In turn, he just heaved a sigh.

“I hope he won’t react violently over this.”

Youngmin then walked towards the Kim’s house but stopped midway upon seeing a black car. Youngmin entered Woojung’s house only to see Minwoo and Donghyun bringing luggages from the second floor.

“Minwoo, what are you doing here?” Youngmin asked making Minwoo stop to a halt.

“I’m just getting Woojung’s things. I don’t want this but I can’t do anything about it either.” Minwoo said with a hard look to which Youngmin stared at him in bewilderment.

“W-what do you mean?” Youngmin asked as Donghyun sighed before looking at him.

“Starting today... Woojung will be staying at Victoria’s place.”

XXXXX

Inside Victoria’s mansion, Woojung was lying on the sofa facing the window inside the room prepared for her.

yoboseyo? Woojung said over the phone as she got up from her bed. After having a moment with Youngmin, the latter brought her home and tucked her in bed. At first, Woojung didn’t want to part but Youngmin promised her that he would be with her the next day. After Youngmin left the house, Woojung’s phone rang to which she answered immediately hoping that it was Youngmin.

I assume that by now you would know what will happen if you don’t agree to the wedding.” Woojung’s eyebrows furrowed upon hearing the caller’s voice.

Victoria—

Aren’t you being selfish? Think about it. If this wedding takes place then not only will my company benefit but Donghyun’s also. He wouldn’t lose his precious business and I assure you that it will grow into a fine company.

Woojung’s train of thoughts were interrupted when the door suddenly opened. Sounds of footsteps walking towards her was heard but Woojung didn’t even bother to look who the person was.

“Is this what you really want or you’re just being a fool?” Woojung furrowed her eyebrows as she continued staring at the window, obviously annoyed.

“What the hell are you even doing here?”

“What’s it to you? This is my mom’s house. Of course I’ll be here. “ Jeongmin chuckled as Woojung only rolled her eyes.

“You’re not helping.”

“Don’t worry, I’m not planning to.”

Jeongmin looked at Woojung before looking out at the sky through the window.

“I don’t care about anything but I’m just saying, it’s not bad to want some happiness for yourself.”

“I…” Woojung closed her eyes before speaking.

“I don’t want appa to be miserable…”

“You think that seeing his own daughter miserable won’t make him one?” Woojung kept her eyes closed. Sensing that the girl won’t be responding anytime soon, Jeongmin stood up and motioned towards the door.

“It’s your choice that will decide everything. Well, whatever.”

YOUNGMIN’s POV

“You can’t connect to her?”  Kwangmin asked, the two of us walking rapidly through the streets together while I tapped busily on my phone.

“She turned off her phone! Damn. How am I supposed to know where she is?!” I ruffled my hair in frustration as Kwangmin looked at me worriedly. After knowing about Woojung’s decision to stay with Victoria, I immediately went back to our house and called Kwangmin. When we came back to the Kim’s house, Minwoo and Donghyun hyung were already gone. I didn’t even get the chance to ask Woojung’s whereabouts.

“I’m so stupid. Why didn’t I even ask Minwoo before I returned to our house? I don’t even have his number.” I said, frustration overtaking me. Ugh. But it’s true, I should’ve asked Minwoo awhile ago. Donghyun hyung doesn’t know the place so Minwoo was the only choice.

“It’s not your fault, you were panicking so naturally you’d forget the important things. I already asked Chaejin and the others to inform us in case they see Woojung.” Kwangmin said as he placed his phone near his ear.

“How about Jieun? Does she know about Woojung?”

“Wait, I’m trying to call her—Jieun.” Kwangmin said coming to a stop.

“Kwangie, I was about to call you. Woojungie just called me—“

“WOOJUNG DID?!” I exclaimed snatching Kwangmin’s phone as the passerby’s looked at us weirdly.

“Sorry about that. Don’t mind him, he’s been pretty paranoid.” Kwangmin grabbed his phone back and raised an eyebrow at me as I just sheepishly smiled.

“Don’t worry, I totally feel him. Woojung told me everything that happened. If only I was there for her, I didn’t know that she’s been suffering all this time.” Jieun said apologetically while Kwangmin just smiled.

“Don’t feel bad. I’m sure that Woojung wouldn’t want you to worry, that’s why she kept it all to herself. But did she say where she’s staying right now?”

“She told me that she’s staying with her mother but when I asked about the address, she said that it’s best if I don’t know about it. Looks like she doesn’t want anybody of us to intervene.” Jieun said as I slowly clenched my fists.

“But try calling Minwoo. I’m sure he knows something. I think Youngmin oppa should be the one to ask him. I’ll send his number.”

“Thanks a lot, Jiji.” Kwangmin whispered with a smile as my message alarm went off.

+010731XXXXXXX – Minwoo’s Number. Good luck! Fighting!

I stared at my phone while Kwangmin smiled at me. I dialed his number and waited.

“Yoboseyo?” I gulped upon hearing Minwoo’s voice over the phone. Hesitation was running in my mind because for starters, why would Minwoo help me know where Woojung is? Minwoo must be stupid to help his rival but then again, this is my last bet.

“Minwoo, this is Youngmin.” I said waiting for the other person to respond.

“Oh, took you long enough to know my number.”

“You probably want to know the address of Aunty Victoria’s place.” I looked at Kwangmin with wide eyes before Minwoo spoke again.

“But don’t you think you’re being unreasonable? What makes you think that I’ll actually give you the address?” Minwoo said in a sharp tone as I breathed deeply.

“Minwoo, I know that we haven’t been on good terms but what’s important right now is Woojung’s happiness right?” Minwoo stayed silent as I continued on speaking.

“We both know that the two of us are in love with the same person and naturally we would want what’s best for her… we would want her to be happy … but is this really the best for her? Is this what she really  wants?” I closed my eyes while clenching my fists in an attempt to hear Minwoo.

“Is she Happy?!” I exclaimed but no sound was heard on the other line. After a few seconds, the call ended making my knees fall on the ground. It was my last bet… yet it still didn’t work.

“Youngmin…” Kwangmin said, patting my back in an attempt to console me when suddenly my phone rang again.

105XXX Fungrim dongho Woheondong Buk-gu Pohang.
