MinHee woke up to her shoulders being shaken. She rolled onto her side, and a jolt of pain shot through her arm. She shot up, her eyes wide, and looked down. The cast was still wrapped around her arm. Right, she thought to herself, looking around to find who had woken her up.

Her mother and father stood at the side of her bed, her mother’s eyes brimmed with red. “Oh, my baby girl.” She said, letting out a loud sob.

MinHee’s father looked down at the whiteboard and sighed. “They said that you don’t remember being able to talk again.” MinHee nodded. “You got the surgery and everything.” He said, and his voice hitched.

MinHee sat up straighter, and cleared . That wasn’t a noise she’d been able to make in a while, but if her parents said she could, then she believed she could talk. “I’m…” She said lightly.

“Don’t force yourself.” Her father said. “It’s enough for now. Hearing your voice just a little, is enough for now.”

MinHee nodded. “I’m sorry.”

When Cora opened her eyes, she wished she hadn’t. Her legs felt like lead, her head was pounding, and her heart was still stuck in . MinHee was getting her arm cast off that day, and Cora was afraid of what might lie underneath.

“Hey,” Maria’s voice said lightly, and Cora looked over. Maria was sitting on her bed, with Youngjae at her side. She held one of his hands in both of hers, and smiled lightly at Cora. “You ready to get up and go so Minnie?”

Cora groaned. “I don’t feel good.”

“You never feel good when something bad happens to MinHee.” Youngjae said lightly.
