Chapter 45: Philippines Day 2

Mark’s POV

“Mark.” a guy said.

Is someone waking me up? It’s still too early. The sun hasn’t risen up yet.

“Mark.”

Aish. This guy is really something.

I opened my eyes and saw Loidmar with Rhianne’s father. I immediately rose up and bowed to him. I saw Rhianne’s father laughing then he whispered something to Loidmar.

“Rhianne’s father said you should join us to get some woods and get some water in the river nearby. So you’ll be able to know the culture here in the Philippines plus…” Loidmar paused, “He wants to know if you will really work hard for Rhianne.”

“I’ll go. I’ll just change my clothes.” I said.

Loidmar stopped me, “No need Mark. You’ll get dirty anyway.”

I’ll get dirty?

Then they went out of the hut and I joined them. Sleeping on the hut really made my back ache. I just slept on wood. I’m not kinda comfortable but, I’ll do anything for Rhianne.

 Rhianne’s father brought an ax and some pointed things maybe for cutting the woods then Loidmar gave me two pails.

“What am I going to do with these?” I asked.

“We’re going to get water from the river and we need those containers.” Loidmar said.

“Is there no water supply here aside from the river?” I asked.

“We usually get our water from the river.” Loidmar said. “That’s our water supply here.”

And I was like ‘There’s really a place like this? No water supply? The government should pay attention to this.’

We started walking with flashlight since it’s still quite dark. I can still here some crickets.

We walked and walked and walked.

“Aren’t we there yet?” I asked Loidmar.

“We’re near.” he said.

“So you go all this far just to get water?” I asked.

“Yes.” he said. “When Rhianne was a child she usually comes with us until…”

“Until?” I asked.

“We’re here.” he said.

I looked at my front and saw the river. Although it’s dark, I can still see that this river is clean. Loidmar started to go near the river and get some water.

“Come” he said.

I went near him and started putting some water on the pails.

Suddenly,

*BLAAAAAAGGGG*

Ouch. I slipped.

Loidmar immediately went to me.

“Are you alright?” he asked.

I stood up and took the pails again.

“I’m fine.” I said.

Now I’m all wet and dirty. So Loidmar is right. Good thing I did not bring my phone here or else, it’ll be wet.

After putting water on the pails, we went to the woods nearby to get some woods. Rhianne’s father is really something. He really wants to ensure her daughter’s future. Don’t worry my future father-in-law, I’ll take care of Rhianne. I promise.

Kyaa. Why am I this sweet? Hahaha. Okay, I’m so gay.

Rhianne’s POV

“Good morning sunshine!” my mother said.

I can now feel the rays of the sun in my face. After a long time, I felt this feeling again. Since I’m leaving in a no window dorm, I can’t feel the sun every morning while waking up.

“Good morning mom.” I said.

I rose up and immediately fixed myself. I look very ugly whenever I wake up. -_- Haha.

After fixing myself, I went outside and saw…

OH MY GOSH. I’m sinning right now.

I can see Mark…

cutting the woods….

SHIRTLESS!!!!

*gulp*

Suddenly he looked at me, “Good morning Peter Pan’s Wendy!” he said.

I smiled faintly and immediately went inside the house.

“Mom!” I shouted.

“Don’t shout!” she said. “What’s the matter?”

“Why is Mark cutting the woods?” I asked her.

“Your father wants to ensure that he can do things like that.” she said.

And suddenly my jaw dropped. “What?”

Mark is a prince in their home and now they’re treating him as a slave. What?

“It looks like he is very willing to do it for you.” mom said.

“Aish.” I said. “Stop treating him like that anymore. Aren’t you convinced already?”

Mom smiled, “Convinced.” she said and stood up and went outside.

“Aish, jinjja.” I said.

“Don’t worry Rhianne, everything is fine. I’m enjoying it.” Mark said.

And I looked at him and he’s still shirtless. Oh Lord, please take him away right now. I know he doesn’t have abs but his biceps are uggh.

Stop thinking green Rhianne! Slap yourself!

Suddenly he hugged me.

OH MY GOSH MARK!

I immediately pushed him.

“What’s wrong?” he said while smiling. “You’re thinking of something eh? Is my body nice?”

He’s teasing me. Stop me or else I’ll kiss this guy!

“Yah! You’re sweaty and stuff then you’re gonna hug me. Like, eeewwww.” I said.

He smirked at me, “Ah really.”

Then he tried to hug me again but I was able to move away. Then he started chasing me.

“It’s fun seeing those two very happy. I never thought Rhianne will be able to be happy like this.” Rhianne’s mom said. “The last time I saw her like that was when she was a little child, playing with our neighbor before.”

Rhianne and Mark were still chasing each other.

“I see. But you know, if you didn’t let her move out from her comfort zone, she’ll not learn.” Rhianne’s grandma said.

“But mom, Rhianne is fragile.” Rhianne’s mom said.

“I know. We know. But if you’ll just always let her stay here, nothing will happen to her. We all know what may happen if we just let her go and have normal life, but at least give her a chance to be happy in her own way.” Rhianne’s grandma said.

“I understand.”

They just hugged each other as they watch Mark and Rhianne playing.
