Ririn and DongWon sat at the table together. All the team members kept on staring at them as they ate, but they ignored them.

“How is your arm?” asked DongWon

“I’m fine.” She pats her arm, “Just a slight burn.” She starts to eat again. DongWon smirks at her.

“What were you thinking going into that fire, yesterday?” she looks at him, “I thought your family died in a fire, which is why you are scared of them.”

“I went in after you.” He raised his eyebrow, “I remember our last mission when I was scared of the fire that the criminal started. I couldn’t go through. You push me through the fire and that how you got badly injured.”

“Is that why you left?”

“Ne.” She scoffs, “Stupid reason isn’t it. At the time I thought it was the best answer, but the more I thought about it the more I knew that it was stupid.”

“Ririn, you tore a hole in me when you left.” Ririn had a sadden face, “But are you willing to mend that hole?” Ririn was astonished. “My feelings haven’t changed since you left.”

SeulMi and Kai stares at each other in the hospital garden. He was right in front of her, staring down into her eyes.

“You once told me that you had loved me.” Kai says without hesitation, “I know that, that love is still there somewhere.”

“I also once said that I will never show you that I love you again.”

“But you didn’t.” He grabs her hand, “You kept on loving me. You gave me second chances, you were always there and you never hurt me. You were my best friend, and you still are….” He smiles at her, “I’m lucky to have fallen in love with my best friend.” SeulMi smiles at him and he does the same.

“Jong – In.” Kai felt warm at the familiar gesture, “I have something to tell you.”

“Bwoh?” She uses her hand to tell him to come closer. He leans over and she whispers in his ear.

“Sarang” Kai felt happy, “babo.” SeulMi runs away from Kai back to the hospital laughing. Kai was stun for a bit before realizing that SeulMi had ran away.

“Yah! Kang SeulMi.” He started to chase her.

Kris sat in his office with a sadden face.

“Can we stay like this for a while?” SeulMi said through her sobbing.

 “I’ll always be here if you ever need anyone.” Said Kris.

“I don’t want another man in my life.”

Suho walks into Kris’ office. Kris stood up to greet Suho.

“What are you doing here?”

“I have a message from SeulMi to you.” Kris was surprise and anxious to hear the message.

“What do you have for me?”

“SeulMi wants me to tell you that you can return to KIM Corps, you are no longer need here.” Kris’ eyes rounded, “She also wants to thanks you for all you have done for her these past couple of years. She can’t express her gratitude to you.”

“Is that all?”

“Ne.” Suho sighs and puts his hands in his pockets, “I’ll have one of the assistant at KIM to help you later.”

Kris looks at a picture that was taken during the two years. Kris had taken her on her first trip since her surgery. It was at a garden.

“Nice guys finish last.” He chuckles to himself, “She happier with him Kris. She never even liked you.” He told himself.

SeulMi was at her aunt and uncle’s house preparing dinner when she heard the door open and closed.

“Hello?” No answer. “Who is there?” still no answer, she turns off the stove. SeulMi grabs a frying pan from the rack and walked slowly down the hallway. “If someone is there you better answer me.” She got closer to the door.

“Boo!” somebody jumped out.

“Ah!” SeulMi shut her eyes and swung the pan.

PONG!

“Ow!” SeulMi open her eyes and saw Sehun on the floor with Kai standing next to him.

“Sehun, are you okay?” She got on her knees and checks his head, “I’m sorry I didn’t know it was you.”

“I told you not to scare her.” Kai chuckles, “Never listen to me.”

“Let’s go to the kitchen and get and icepack for you.” SeulMi helps Sehun up. She had her arms linked with his. Kai couldn’t help but be a little jealous at the action.

SeulMi had some ice in a towel and gave it to Sehun. He held it against the bump on his head.

“Are you sure you’re okay?” SeulMi asked. Sehun was about to answer but Kai beat him to it.

“He is fine.” SeulMi glares at Kai.

“Why are you two here anyways? You aren’t supposed to be discharge until tomorrow.”  She points at Kai, then looks at Sehun.

“Hyung wanted to come see you so he called me and told me to sneak him out.” SeulMi crosses her arm and looks at Kai.

“Kim JongIn, you know that your lungs can be damage. Why would you leave the hospital?”

“I’m fine.”

“Yah!” SeulMi scares Kai and Sehun.

“Since I am no longer needed,” Sehun got up, “I’ll leave.” He walks towards the door.

“I never heard you yell like that before.” Kai said

“That is because I never gotten angry with you before.” She sighs and goes and grab her bag.

“Where are you going?”

“Taking you back to the hospital.” She grabs his wrist drags him towards the door. He stops in his track. She looks over her shoulder, “Kaja.” She tries to pull him. But he pulls her back into a hug.

“You’re worried about me?” She looks up at him.

“Ne.” She breaks out of his embrace, “If you die in this house it will be my fault.” Kai smiles at her and walks towards the living room. “Yah, where are you going?” She follows him.

Kai sat on the couch and turns on the TV.

“Kai.” He looks at her

“What did you call me?”

“Kai.” She crosses her arm, “Waeyo? Don’t like it?”

“Ne.”

“Too bad.” She took the remote and turned off the TV. “Kaja.”

“Aniyo…I’m going to stay here for the night. It is my job to take care of you until your aunt and uncle gets back anyways.”

“You’re in no condition to take care of me.”

“Then I guess you have to take care of me then.” Kai smiles and lounge on the couch. SeulMi just sighs and walks away. “Where are you going?”

“To die.” He hears her yell from the kitchen. After a while he stood up and walk to the kitchen where she was. “Yes…he is here with me.” Kai eavesdrop on her conversation, “I’m sorry…thank you.” She puts her phone in her pocket. Kai walk into the kitchen and lean against the wall.

“Who was that?” SeulMi went back to cooking and ignore Kai. He walks over and stood next to her, “SeulMi~.” She turns off the stove.

“Are you hungry?”

“Ne.” she hands him a plate full of food and one for her. “SeulMi.” He whines

“I called the hospital to tell them that I have their missing patient.”

“Mianhae.” Kai smiles, “What are you doing after dinner?”

“Wash up and sleep, what else?”

“Let go on a date.”

“It late, and we have to get to work tomorrow.”

“How about tomorrow then?”

“Kai.”

“Tomorrow it is.” Kai happily digs into his dinner. SeulMi couldn’t help but smile.

SeulMi was welcomed into the building by DongWon, Ririn, and others. SeulMi notice the difference between the two.

“Morning SeulMi.” They both said.

“Morning you two.” SeulMi just smiles and continues walking with DongWon not too far behind. On the way to her office she sees Kris and somebody holding a box behind him.

“Kris.”

“Morning SeulMi.” He smiles

“Are you leaving today?” she looks at the person behind him.

“Ne.” he sighs, “Since I am no longer needed here.” He smirks.

“It not like we aren’t going to see each other again.”

“I know, but I won’t get to see you every day anymore.”

“Don’t make it seem so sad.” SeulMi gives him a hug, “I’ll see you whenever.” She walks to her office. Kris turns to looks back at SeulMi. He turns to go and bumps into someone.

“Oh I’m so sorry.” Said the person.

“It is okay.” He notice the familiar face, “Amber?”

Knock Knock

“Come in.” SeulMi said without looking up.

“Morning.” She looks up.

“Hello Luke.” Luke had his hand behind his back, “What did you need?”

“Mr. JongIn told me to give this to you.” He set a white envelope on her desk, “He told me to tell you that you should read it as soon as you get it. It is very important…something about a date.”

“Thanks you Luke. If that is all than you can leave.” Luke bows before leaving. SeulMi picks up the envelope and opens it. It was a train ticket with a note.

Ready for our date? You’re probably wondering what I’m doing right now….will I am waiting for you at the train station. I think you know which one too. If you don’t come by the time the train leave I take it you haven’t forgiven me yet. Hope to see you there.

SeulMi looks at the train ticket and puts it back down.

Kai sat on the bench with a box in his hand. He looks at the time, it was 12:58. He sighs.

“She is probably running late.” He leans on the bench and looks at the box.

“I think it is time for you to start your own story and stop lingering on the old one.”

“Ten Minutes before departing.” Said the conductor. Kai looks at his watch and grabbed his bag. He walks to the train and gets on. He sits across from a man that was heavily dressed. He sat close to the window to see if SeulMi would run out those station door at the last minute. “All aboard.” There was no SeulMi. The train started to leave the station and Kai had given up hope.

At the next station the guy gets off and a woman comes and sit in his place. Kai didn’t really care about her, he just stare out at the view.

“Gweanchah-a?” the lady ask, “sir?”

“Ne, I’m fine.” Kai said in a cold tone without even looking at her.

“You sure? You don’t look like it.”

“Ne. I am fine.”

“You know it is rude to talk to someone without looking at them.” Kai got annoyed.

“What do you- ” He was speechless as he saw her.

“You look like you just saw a ghost.” She smiles, “Are you sure you’re okay JongIn?”

“SeulMi.” He grabs her hand, “how?”

“You can’t expect a girl to get home and dress and then come to a train station within 40 minutes?” She goes and sit next to him, “I track my ticket and the train was supposed to stop here too. So I came here instead.” He hugs her.

“I’m so happy.”

Kai and SeulMi went to Lotte world and went on the merry-go-round, and then had lunch.

“Kaja.” SeulMi tries to pull Kai along to a roller-coaster, but Kai didn’t budge, “Are you scared?”

“Aniyo, I have to use the bathroom.” Kai does a little pee pee dance, “You go ahead, and I’ll follow.”

“Arraso.” SeulMi walks towards the line. SeulMi was surprise to see so many couples even though it was the weekdays. SeulMi waited at the entrance for Kai. Kai finally came back, and ran when he saw SeulMi waiting for him.

“Why haven’t you gotten on yet?”

“I was waiting for you. Why did you take so long? Is your stomach okay?”

“Not really.” Kai shook his head.

“I think it is better if we don’t go on this ride then.”

“You want to go ice-skating?” Kai asked, “We can go slowly.” SeulMi nods.

Kai and SeulMi put on the rental skates and started to skate in the ring. Kai kept on teasing SeulMi because he could skate better than her. He did circles around making her pout and whine.

“Kai!”

“I’m just playing around.” He laughs and holds her hand, helping her skate. “Kaja.” She links arms with him as they skate around the rings once. Kai was happy to see her smile again with him around. Her smile that he missed, oh so much. “Sue.”

“Hmm?” she raised her brow.

“Are you having fun?”

“Ne.”  She nods. He lets her go and she starts to wobble. “Kai.”

“Kaja.” He skate and stood in the center of the ring. SeulMi tried her best to go to him. She was almost there but slip on her . Kai quickly skate to her. “Ow.”

“Gweanchah-a?” Kai helps her up.

“Not really.” She glares at him.

“I’m sorry.” He couldn’t help but laugh. He slightly pulls her to the middle. “SeulMi,” She looks at him, “A wise, but foolish, friend of mines told me that I needed to start my own story. The rings that SeulKi gave to me represented her story.” He grabs the box out of his pocket, “I want you to forget that story and start a new one with me.” He opens the box, and there was a ring with a huge diamond on it.

“JongIn.” SeulMi notice something familiar about the ring, “Is that the fake diamond from my bracelet?” Kai smirks.

“You don’t miss a thing do you?” Kai smiles, “I had the ring custom made and ask them to put the diamond from your bracelet in it, as a symbol of our friendship…will, even though it is a fake diamond, Kang SeulMi, will you always be my tree that stays and wait for me?”

“Are you asking me -?”

“Ne, I’m asking you to be my girl.” Kai smiles, “forever.”

“Ne.” she hugs him. As soon as she did flower peddles fell onto them. She saw them and got scared, “JongIn.”

“Don’t worry they’re fake.” SeulMi smiles as the people around them began clapping and screaming.

“Saranghaeyo, Kim JongIn.” Kai was so happy to hear her say those three words, he looks at her and kisses her on the lips. Making people clap and cheer even more.

They both walked to the station hand in hand. Kai and SeulMi couldn’t stop blushing and smiling after the event that he just pulled. They stood at the station.

“Sue.” Kai puts his arm around her waist, “If you weren’t allergic to pollen, what do you think would be your favorite flower?”

“Umm…” she thought, “Waeyo?”

“Just answer the question.”

“My favorite flower….I actually had one I really like from a long time ago.”

“What was it called?”

“Kai.”

“What?”

“The flower that I saw and liked from a long time ago, was and still is Kai.” She smiles. Kai looks and pinches her cheek.

“Saranghaeyo.”

“Saranghaeyo.”

If you are confused by the title, it represents SeulMi and what she represented…a tree. I got the idea from a Greek mythology story I read some time ago. SeulMi basically waited for Kai even though she didn’t know when her life was going to end. Like a tree waiting through all those season just to meet with the flower that laid beneath it again. A sad yet romantic story.
