There was no one there. Kai went and checked the bathroom and everywhere he could in the apartment she was nowhere to be found.

“Where did you go Sue?”

SeulMi had sweating coming down from her face as she batted three games in a row already. Her mind wouldn’t allow her to stop thinking about Kai. Every time she stop a happy memory of her and Kai would pop up.

“Ma’am, we’re closing soon.” Said one of the workers

“Ne.” said SeulMi as she swung the next ball. After 3 minutes she finally finishes her game. She hangs up her helmet when a familiar figure approaches her.

“I never thought I’ll find you here.” She turns around.

“Kris.” SeulMi smile, “What are you doing here?”

“Me?” Kris walked up to her, “Same as you just,” he did a swinging movement, “swinging away.” Kris looked at her and took out his handkerchief to wipe her face. SeulMi took it and wiped her own face. “Why are you out so late? Somebody like you should be resting.”

“I couldn’t sleep. Too many things going on in my head so I decided to come here.”

“Are you tired?”

“Bwoh?”

“I was saying if you’re not tired yet we can take a walk while we’re here?”

“Umm…sure.”

Kai was driving all over Seoul trying to find SeulMi, but she was nowhere in sight. Kai was beginning to worry and started to panic.

“SeulMi, where are you?”

Kai notice two familiar hugging and stops his car. It was Kris and SeulMi.

“You’re saying you haven’t gotten over Kai yet.” Said Kris as they walked.

“Ne.” SeulMi smirks, “Stupid of me isn’t it. I was the one that asked for the divorce yet I can’t even let him go without killing myself in the process.”

“SeulMi, have you ever thought about talking to Kai? I know you guys are divorce and all but that doesn’t mean you guys have to stop talking to each other.”

“I know but I have to control my feelings first. If I don’t, I might end up running into his arms when I see him.”

“Why are you doing this to yourself?”

“I don’t know. Maybe it is because I was hurt for so long that I wanted to give up.” SeulMi sighs, “I wanted to give up all this pain and hurt that I felt because of him. But now I realize either way if I let him go or not I’m still the one in pain.” They stopped in they’re tracks. “I even tried to give him the cold shoulder. Is anything I am doing right?”

“Why are you doing this?”

“I want him to feel as hurt as I was. He doesn’t know what pain is. He only runs away from his problem.” She sighs “While I stayed back and kept it all in: when I found out he liked unnie, when they dated, when he proposed to her…” the tear slip from her face, “and when my family passed away. Never once did he came and comforted me. Where was he, when my world was falling apart?” Kris watch as the SeulMi let everything loose.

“SeulMi ah.” All he did was watch her cry. His heart broke at the sight of her.

“He was gone. All he did was cared about himself. Wae!” she looks at Kris weakly, "Waeyo? Why must I always come second before any other girl? Wae?”Kris pulls SeulMi into a hug SeulMi wraps her arm around him also. “Can we stay like this for a while?” she said through her sobbing. Kris nods.

Kai drove by with anger in his heart, his two good friends hugging each other on the street in the middle of the night.

“I’ll always be here if you ever need anyone.” Said Kris.

SeulMi walked home after the nice long talk with Kris. She saw somebody sitting outside her apartment door. As she got closer she realized who it was. SeulMi walks pass him to her door. He quickly stood up.

“SeulMi.” She stops

“Kai.” She turns back and looks at him, “What are you doing here? It’s almost midnight.”

“I should be asking you the same thing.” He chuckles, “Where have you been? A sick person like you shouldn’t be out this late.”

“I was taking a walk with a friend because I couldn’t sleep.” SeulMi took out her key, “If you’ll excuse me I’m going to go and rest now.” Kai caught a hold of her arm.

“Why didn’t you just call me?” He waited for an answer, “Am I nobody anymore?”

“Ani, I just didn’t want to bother you.” He pulls her into a back hug. She gasp as her back hit his hard chest.

“I’m never busy when it comes to you. Do you know how much I missed you these last couple of days? I can’t sleep. Every time I close my eyes it like you’re there, but I know you’re not.” SeulMi closes her eye wishing that Kai would let go of her, “My heart hurts when I see you with another man.”

“How do you think I feel when I see you with other women?” SeulMi slowly unclasps his hand around her waist, “It feels like a thousand knives piercing my heart all at once. Now that it is all over don’t come running to me saying that you love me. A tree can’t be put back together once it has already fallen.” She looks back at Kai, “I already gave up.” She unlocks her door, “Good night Kai.”

 She walks into her apartment and tries to close the door but Kai put his foot in the door, opens the door and pins SeulMi to the wall of her apartment. She was stuck in between his arms. They were both staring each other in the eye. Their faces inches from each other.

“I know you’re lying to me.” Kai raised his voice, “If I could hurt this much just from you leaving, I know you’re suffering more than I am.” SeulMi didn’t say a single word except stare him in the eye, “Ever since you left me, in that empty house, I couldn’t help but have this feeling of emptiness. And I know,” Kai inched closer to SeulMi, “it can only be filled up by you.”

Kai kisses SeulMi, she tries to escape but he holds her still. SeulMi tries her best but her feelings for him was too strong and she ends up returning the kiss. Kai wraps his arm around SeulMi’s waist bringing her closer to him. She wraps her arm around his neck deepening the kiss. Kai, not breaking the kiss, pushes SeulMi towards her room making them both fall on the bed. It became a blissful night for both of them.

Kai woke up the next morning and SeulMi wasn’t next to him. He saw a note on the night stand next to him.

Last night was a mistake. Let just act like none of this happened.

Kai chuckles to himself and crumbles the note in his hand.

“This is how a one night stand feels like.”

SeulMi had just gotten out of a meeting at KIM Corps. Mr. Kim, Xiumin, Suho, and Kris approaches her. She walks towards them with June not too far behind her.

“Hello SeulMi.” Mr. Kim smiles at SeulMi.

“Hello Abeoji, oppas.”

“So how are you doing?”

“Fine actually. I’ve been taking my medicine as prescribe and trying to keep my feelings away from my work.”

“That is good to hear. Your ajussi has been really worried about along with these oppas of yours.”

“There is nothing to worry about abeoji.” SeulMi smiles, “I’m the same old SeulMi. There isn’t anything you need to worry about.” She looks at Xiumin, “Oppa I heard you were going to send Kai to the branch in Ilsan.”

“Ne. Are you worried?”

“Ani, I was surprise you ask him instead.”

“I heard you were taking leave at Sujeong, why?” Ask Mr. Kim, all of the guys were surprised.

“Ne. I’m taking leave for treatment in a couple days or so, after the project is finished tomorrow. Ajussi and ajumma doesn’t want me working and doing treatment at the same time. EunMi unnie is also pestering me about it.”

“Who is going to take care of you?”

“No one is. I’m going to be staying in a ward at the hospital. Plus I don’t want to be a burden on anyone.”

“But you’re not.” Said Suho, “I’ll take you to treatment and back if that is what you need.” SeulMi felt grateful for her wonderful oppas but she didn’t want to burden them.

“Thank you oppa, but I have to face this alone. It’s time to face my fear and realize that I can’t always rely on people. Even if they are the one we need the most.” Mr. Kim pats SeulMi’s face.

“If you need anything abeoji is here.” SeulMi smiles as Mr. Kim leaves. The guys stood there not knowing what to say or do.

“Oppa.” SeulMi walks closer to the guys, “Why don’t we all go out tomorrow night. Bring the guys and unnie too.” Xiumin nods, “We’ll go to a karaoke bar. I want to hear all of your voices before I leave.” SeulMi sighs, “I might not get to hear it again. For a really long time.” The guys were puzzled at her words, “If you guys see Kai let him know he can bring Luna too.” SeulMi bows and leaves

As she walked out the building Kai walks into the building with his arm around one of the model’s waist that worked at KIM. SeulMi caught his attention. She just stops, smiles, bow and walks out the door without looking back. Kai stared at her, hoping she’ll look back, but she walked away from his sight.

“Kai.” Said the girl, “Is something the matter?” Kai looks at the girl

“Ani.” He smiles and they continue upstairs. Kai walked toward his brothers and Kris. Kai glared at Kris as he kissed the girl and she left. “Oh Hyung.” He walks towards his brothers, “So what did I miss?” Xiumin looks at his brother in disguise. He walks to his brother and taps his shoulder.

“Nothing much. We all just got invited to a dinner party by SeulMi. You can bring Luna if you want.” They all walked pass Kai.

SeulMi POV

I went to the train station and sat and watch as the train went by. I remembers that cold day when Kai held my hand for the first time. The warmth I felt and tingly feeling I felt inside.

“Sue?”

“Hmm?” I look up at him

“What are we going to do today?”

“I was thinking after we get off from the train we can go check into the hotel, then we’ll go sightseeing, have lunch somewhere, and then go to the amusement park and then dinner.”

“What about tomorrow?”

“I’ll let you pick.”

“Jong In,” I took the cap off the rack, “This one would look good on you.” He takes off the other cap and puts it on me.

“This one makes you looks even cuter.” I make a sour face and pinches his cheeks.

When I got down from that train and he was there waiting for me. I was so happy, did he really have feelings for me. There was still the Lovers’ rings that was around his neck.

“Sue.” I slowly looks up to find Kai standing at the station entrance

“JongIn.” He slowly walked to me, “Why are you still here?”

“I couldn’t leave without you.” I stared into his eyes, “I couldn’t bear to leave you.” He walks closer to me, “You made me fall for you like an idiot and expect me to leave you like that?”

“Who would have thought one stupid bet would have made all the difference in the world.” I looks down at my bracelet. “JongIn oppa, will always be my oppa and my best friend.”

DRIP

There was a red drop on my bracelet. I touch my nose and saw the blood on my finger.

Author POV

Kai sat at his desk with his head down looking at SeulMi’s wedding band. He gets up in frustration and walks around his office as the memory from last night plays in his head.

“My heart hurts when I see you with another man.”

“How do you think I feel when I see you with other women? It feels like a thousand knives piercing my heart all at once.”

He remembers SeulMi’s poker face when he walk by her with the girl. She just simply smile and bow.

“Aissh.” He swipes all of the paper of his desk and bangs his hand onto the desk, “Why don’t you just show me how you really feel? Why can’t you just show me that you’re hurting?”

“What is the point?” Kai quickly turns around. DongWon stood in the door way, “I’m sorry I couldn’t help it when I heard things dropping on the floor.” DongWon walks over.

“Why are you here?”

“I was here to talk to Xiumin about the wedding plans.” He puts his hands in his pocket, “Seems like EunMi wanted to get the wedding over with before her baby bump started to show.” Kai looks away, “I heard about you and SeulMi ssi.” Kai stares at him, “I’m really sorry.”

“Our personal matters doesn’t concern you.” DongWon smiles and walks around Kai

“I may not have known you for long but I can definitely tell you are a rash person from what EunMi tells me. You’re a player with feelings. That isn’t a really good player.” DongWon picks up SeulMi’s ring, “If you love someone you don’t play with the person’s feelings.” DongWon puts the ring in Kai’s hand, “Women are delicate creature. Everything is based on feelings. Why do you think SeulMi ssi has put up with you so long. She loves you, and love doesn’t come easily and it doesn’t go away easily either. But you should know all about that?”

“What do you know about marriage? Or Love? You’re not even in a relationship.” DongWon stares at him

“I know many things and seen many things in my line of work. Don’t think for a sec that just because I’m head of security I don’t know what love is. We are the one who lost love and had to give it up.” A sad expression appears on DongWon’s face, “But I know when to stop mourning over it and move on.” That hit a spot in Kais head.

(Skip to the Next day)

Everyone was in the karaoke bar waiting partying, except Kai who had not appeared yet. Everyone was singing their hearts out as they sang and grilled meat. The all agreed to no alcohol because of EunMi and SeulMi’s condition. The guys were doing duets together and dancing ridiculous dances to make the atmosphere a little brighter.

SeulMi kept looking at the door once in a while to see if Kai would appear.

“We told him already,” said Kris, “He’ll probably be late. Let just have fun and worry about him later.” SeulMi nods and grabs a beef wraps and eats it.

Xiumin and EunMi were told to do a duet. EunMi got force up there because she was shy.

“EunMi, Xiumin, EunMi, Xiumin” Everyone kept chanting

“Okay, okay.” Xiumin said into the mic and glance at EunMi, “We’ll sing.”

“Yeah!” Everyone screamed.

 EunMi and Xiumin started to sing ‘Nagging’ by IU ft Seulong. Everyone was clapping to the beat as they sang the song. SeulMi couldn’t help but laugh at the lyrics of the song. A smile that couldn’t disappear was what she needed. The song was indeed too high for Xiumin to sing, but he sang it to the end.

“Whoa!!!!” Everyone clapped and cheered, “Daebak.” Xiumin and EunMi came back and sat down. EunMi notice someone behind SeulMi and looks over.

“Oh, Kai,” SeulMi’s smile fades as she looks behind her, “When did you get here?” SeulMmi was surprised she didn’t see Luna.

“Just a little while ago.” Kai was smiling, “Great job with the singing. I haven’t heard hyung sing in years. You need some practice hyung.”

“Yah, who said that you can judge me on that?” Kai put his hands up

“I wasn’t judging I was just saying you’ve lost your touch.” They all laughed. He looks at SeulMi, “Did you want to sing a song with me.”

“Bwoh?” she broke out of her trance, “Me?”

“No I am talking to the air around me.” Kai gets up and puts his hands out, “Kaja.” SeulMi looks at EunMi for an answer.

“Ppalli and just go.” said EunMi. SeulMi gets up reluctantly and walks to the stage. Kai goes and picks up the mic and hands one to SeulMi.

“What are we singing?” SeulMi whispers

“Just wait and see.” Just then a kiddy song comes on and Kai starts to turn in circles and smiles at SeulMi

SeulMi and Kai dance to the song until the end along with everyone who knew the dance moves. She couldn’t stop smiling and laughing at how things were going. Everyone she loved and care about were in the room with her, celebrating what might be her last party. She looks over at Kai and smiles as he did the same.

*Keep smiling like that no matter what.* she said to herself.
